From the New York Times bestselling author of Taking Chances, From Ashes, and Stealing Harper, comes the new unforgettable adult romance Molly McAdams’ fans have been waiting for—the sizzling story of a young woman who must place her trust in the one man who can break through her defenses.

A night they will always remember…a connection neither can deny…a secret that could destroy it all…
When Kennedy Ryan moves to California, she never expects to come face-to-face with Liam Taylor-the intriguing man she hasn’t been able to forget. Somehow Liam managed to get Kennedy to let down her guard for a single night of passion that ended up meaning more than it was ever supposed to. Accustomed to disastrous experiences with men, Kennedy shields herself before he can break down more of the carefully built control she’s clung to for the last four years. But every time she sees Liam, she feels her resolve weakening.

Liam Taylor has been asked to befriend his boss’s nieces. But what starts out as a reluctant favor ends up leading Liam to the only girl who ever slipped away before morning-a girl he thought he’d never find again. And now that she’s within reach, Liam’s determined to never let her go.

When a secret from her past tests their relationship, will they be able to cling to the trust Liam has worked so hard to build?
Trying not to wake him, I slowly slid out from under his arm and off the bed to search for my clothes. Once I was dressed, I told myself to just leave, but I couldn’t help it—I turned to look at him in the light. I needed to be sure I hadn’t made him up.

The images from last night tore through my mind again when I saw the large, tattooed arm resting where my body had just been. The muscles were well defined even relaxed, and the face had a boyish charm now that he was asleep. Such a difference from the predatory stare and knowing smirk I kept seeing in my mind. Before I could stop myself, I gently ran my fingers through his dirty-blond hair that, now in the sunlight, I could see had a red tint to it. And I knew if he opened them, those arctic blue eyes would once again captivate me.

But I couldn’t risk that.

I’d already stayed too long; I’d already made a mistake with him. Drunken one-night stands weren’t my thing. Drunken one-night stands with strangers in Vegas were even worse.

Straightening, I turned and walked quietly from the room.
Series collide in this Taking Chances and Forgiving Lies crossover. Liam Taylor, Harper’s son (Taking Chances) and Kennedy Ryan, Kash and Rachel’s daughter (Forgiving Lies) meet when Kennedy temporarily moves to California.

But what neither know is that one year ago, they shared a night that neither has been able to forget.

Even as they connect the dots, Kennedy is hesitant to let Liam in, though that is Liam’s ultimate goal. She has her secrets, including the reason she and her sister have moved to California in the first place, and the real reason she doesn’t want to give him the time of day. She is closed off and always in control, at least until she meets Liam, and as she loses her balance with Liam, she can’t help but fight what she fears most.

Liam is confident that he’ll be able to break through Kennedy’s walls. He hasn’t forgotten the feelings that started during their one night together. He knows she is keeping something from him, but he also knows he has never felt like this about any other woman in his life.

These two were drawn together in a way that often happens in books, quickly and inexplicably. But I loved the way Liam gave Kennedy the space she needed to figure things out without completely leaving her alone.

As second generation characters, the ties to their parents are clear. Liam has grown up knowing who his biological father was, but also knowing the story behind all the drama that happened before he was born. The influence from Kennedy’s parents runs more towards references that make Kennedy sick because of the innuendo and meaning behind them.

But it’s not just references that tie this book to the original books. Brian, Chase’s tattoo artist, keeper of creative wisdom and a bottomless stomach is back with his stoner-like attitude and outlook. Brandon shares his insight from the year before Liam’s birth. Kash and Rachel bring their particular brand of banter to several scenes as well. I loved these little touches that made this world more than just Liam and Kennedy.

It is not necessary to have read the tie-in books to enjoy this book. There is enough backstory included that new readers will understand enough about Liam and Kennedy’s parents (which is really the only connection to the original books). The only thing that would be lacking is the actual depth of emotion gained from those books.
I was hesitant to read Trusting Liam, as I had such a strong reaction to Taking Chances that I was afraid. Yes, I’ve read and liked others from Molly McAdams, including Forgiving Lies and Deceiving Lies, but knowing this was tied to the characters in Taking Chances specifically made me nervous about the direction the story would take. I can say I am glad I took the chance to read this.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband and furry four-legged daughters. When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies, fried pickles and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm ... or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.
