Carly Reynolds doesn’t have much faith in men. She no longer trusts her heart to lead—not after doing her so wrong. Raising her sons alone, Carly must learn to stand on her own. But she’s stronger now, wiser, and determined to move forward.

Derek Taylor, the sexy tatted drummer for Three Ugly Guys, doesn’t have much time for women, except to hook up and get off. He’d rather focus on writing music and living the career he’s always dreamed. Fate may have other plans.

Dr. Garrett Brooks is the talk of Children’s Hospital. As the new surgical resident, he is young, charming, and attractive. He takes an immediate interest in Carly but his demanding work schedule and her single mom status don’t leave much opportunity for dating.

Between love interests, two boys to raise, and a full time nursing job, Carly’s ability to stand strong is put to the test. And when strange things start to transpire Carly must face the reality that her past has come back to haunt. Can the woman she’s become dare to hope for love again? And which man will win her heart?

Uncovering Hope is the third and final book in the Uncovering Love series, but can also be read as a standalone.

Carly Reynolds is a busy single mom and nurse. Her life has not been easy and she gets lonely.  Her love life progresses from bad history to non-existent to having two potentials.

Derek Taylor is a cocky, flirty, pierced, tatted band member who loves to proposition her with dirty innuendo. He's a womanizer and  a bad boy, but she begins to see his caring good heart. Some of his extra-curricular activities do not fit his hard image. She friend-zones him for self protection and tries to deny their spark. She's already shared her past with a bad boy and has the damage to prove it. She is determined not to be pulled in by one again.

Dr. Garrett Brooks is the new-in-town surgeon and is lusted after by all of the women at the hospital. He's handsome, smart, witty, and sweet.  He takes a liking to her and seems to accept her life as it is. He's the type woman aspire to marry...the good catch...the practical choice. He almost seems too good to be true.

Carly can't lose herself in a man again. She's got too much to lose. And her past still affects her and does not seem to  want to stay hidden. The full story is gradually revealed. Carly has definite fears, insecurities, and trust issues. Her faith in men is shaky and she strives to be strong, independent, and make good choices for her and her boys. But she also wants to be able to trust in the little hope that is slowly growing.

Carly has a choice to make and it will affect more than just herself. It should be an easy one, right?

The characters from the first two books are back: Carly's brother Tate and his fiancee Evie, Jon and Kate, and Carly's precocious boys Ezra and Eli. They add support, humor, and drama to the story. I love how they all look out for each other and have become a larger extended family.

This had a suspense story in the background. And another emotional one with a special character who just tugged at my heart. I enjoyed the dual points of view and seeing the growth and change in the characters. It was fun to get to see progression with the other couples and tie up all of their stories. It had a couple of surprises and interesting twists.  It was sweet, sexy, suspenseful, emotional, swoony, story of friendship, love, healing, and hope.

Derek Taylor, drummer for 3 Ugly Guys, is a womanizer and a party animal. Though not as hard of a partier as his bandmates, he likes to have a good time and let loose often. He doesn’t expect to fall under the spell of his buddy’s sister, nor does he expect to have to work so hard to get into a woman’s pants. But Carly proves a challenge and as he gets to know her, he only likes what he sees more and more.

Carly can’t let herself be overwhelmed by emotions or a man again. She has too much riding on her keeping her head that she can’t risk losing herself again. Dr. Brooks feels comfortable. Easy. But while things with Garrett are nice, she can’t help but lose herself a little whenever Derek is around. Even though they’ve decided to keep things in the friend zone. A single mom, she has only recently gotten her feet back under her with the help of her brother, Tate. She has worked hard to get where she is and doesn’t want to go back to that point again.

The chemistry is off the charts between Carly and Derek, but she struggles to let herself cave to her desires. She had been burned before by that passion and had vowed to never fall that hard again. I struggled with the Dr Brooks aspect of the story, but only because I liked what Derek and Carly were building together, especially as they start in that friend zone that is so foreign to Derek.

There was a good suspense angle to the story. Some parts were clearly coming, but there were a few twists that threw me for a loop. I enjoyed the way I was constantly questioning the motives of side characters, watching both the innocent and the suspicious ones warily.

The previous couples are present in the story, especially as Carly still lives with Tate and Evie, and Jon and Kate are around a lot. I loved getting more of the backstory that brought Carly and her boys to Tate’s house and the reason he is so protective of her. I also loved the addition of Luis to the story. His relationship with both Carly and Derek was a great bridge between these two, and added another emotional element.

Though this is the final book in the series, it is my favorite of the three. I loved both characters and the progression of their relationship. The suspense storyline kept me guessing, while I kept waiting for Carly and Derek to make their moves beyond the boundaries they had originally set for each other.

Kacey Shea

Kacey Shea is a mom of three, wife, and part-time bookkeeper who resides in sunny Arizona. She enjoys reading and writing romance novels as much as her son loves unicorns, which is a lot.

When she's not writing you will find her playing taxi cab to her children while belting out her favorite tunes, meeting friends or family for food and to share some laughs, or sweating it out in the gym. Kacey finds that picking up heavy weights repeatedly is good for her mental health as much as it is for the physical.

She has an unhealthy obsession with firefighters. It could be the pants. It could be the fire. It's just hot. On occasion she has been known to include them, without their knowledge, in her selfies outside the grocery store.

Kacey one day aspires be a woman hand model in a sexy photo shoot. You know, the woman's hand raking across the muscular back or six pack stomach of the male fitness model. Yep, that hand.

Until that day comes she will continue writing sexy, flirty romance novels in hopes to bring others joy!

Kacey enjoys interacting with her fans so please feel free to stalk her on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
