Wall Street meets the Sons of Anarchy in Damage Control, the smoldering, scorching next novel in the explosively sexy Dirty Money series.

The only thing more dangerous than a dark secret is a damaged heart…

Shane Brandon has been pushed to the brink, torn between his corrupt family and his explosive, all-consuming desire for Emily Stevens, who he now knows is not who, and what, she seems. Has he trusted the wrong person? Will she, not his brother Derek, be the ultimate destruction of his family Empire?

Emily tries to run from Shane, but he will stop her, confront her, force her to reveal all — one hot touch and kiss at a time, under every intimate detail of who this woman is, and what she wants, is exposed. But as he tears away the dangers of the unknowns with the woman in his bed, and in his heart, The Martina Cartel has set their sights on his company, his family, and the one piece of leverage they believe he won’t gamble with: Emily.

I knew the first moment I met Shane Brandon and Emily Stevens in the coffee shop of Hard Rules, I was going to love the hell out of this duo. Thankfully, neither they nor my instincts let me down. With each word spoken, I found myself tumbling head over heels, full speed ahead. It didn't take long before I was hooked, line and sinker. Every little quirk just amplified my need to devour them quicker.

I'd like to say Shane's unique in character but I wouldn't be honest if I did. I absolutely adored him, don't get me wrong, but he's pretty much your commonplace dominate alpha. You've seen him in a million and one books. Rich, successful, likes control in all aspects of his life, and loves to get downright kinky in the bedroom; just to name a few of the classic traits. Plus, as we know, 99% of alphas don't do relationships. They're the playboys of this genre; the hit it and kick it type men—until they collide head first with their heroine, then all bets are off. At that point, it's love, lust, and possession at first sight. Think Gideon and Christian, except not as overbearing. If you love this type of book boyfriend, than you'll love Shane as much as I did. I'd even venture to say, he could hold his own amongst all the other panty droppers. Yes, I totally went there.

Emily, on the other hand, was so wrapped up in cloak and daggers I can't really say for sure whether or not her character will turn out to be unique. While Shane was an open book, Emily was the exact opposite, quite the mystery with an abundance of cryptic behaviors just waiting for answers to surface. She's definitely one of those people I would describe as more than meets the eye. Ms. Jones did one hell of a job making sure we knew nothing about Emily, other than what Emily wanted us to see.

As individuals, they captured my attention, having no problems keeping me completely engaged. But as a couple, they rocked the hell out of my socks. Together, without a shadow of a doubt, they were the cat's pajamas. The electrifying sparks between them was not only fun and flirty, but scorching hot. Then there was their delectable chemistry, chock full of tangible tension. Add that to their opposites attract type personalities and it was easy to feel the magnetism radiating off the pages between them.

Lisa Renee’s tantalizing word play didn’t stop with her characters, though. Oh no, she proceeded to deliver quite the thought-provoking suspense. I quickly discovered that Hard Rules is the epitome of deceit, turmoil, and extortion. Corruption, greed, manipulation and a whole lot of secrets is the name of this game. The constant questioning of who, what, when, and why only caused my intrigue to become beyond piqued. With each well placed connotation, my mind began spinning with speculation while frantically trying to connect the puzzle pieces.

If you're a reader who loves authors that don't display all their card immediately, you'll love Lisa's writing style. This is my third book by her and once again she did not disappoint. Each time I end one of her addicting novels I am chomping at the bit for the next. I hate not being able to figure out the twists and turns, but without fail I always walk away from her work with more questions than answers.

In case you can't tell from my review, Hard Rules, in typical Lisa Renee fashion, ends on quite the cliff hanger. If you don’t do those, I would suggest waiting for Damage Control to release in February 2017.
