"A steamy and red-hot enemies-to-lovers romance like I've never read before!" - Beneath the Covers Book Blog

"It was FREAKING FANTASTIC! Sexy, charming, and full of witty banter, I couldn't get enough of Luke and Charlotte!" - Shayna Renee's Spicy Reads

Charlotte Freemont has taken off across the country to start a new life. Unfortunately her car decided to stop on her in a tiny town in Texas. The rich, city girl is now stranded indefinitely. She doesn't make great first impressions on the townspeople, especially broody Luke Wilder. He's rough, rugged, cocky, unfiltered, and a bit redneck. And he has no use anymore for spoiled city girls just passing through. He has paid his dues and now just works hard trying to make his family's distillery succeed with his twin brother and sister.

Charlotte comes from privilege, but is done with the lifestyle. She's intelligent, motivated, sassy, and has her own dreams of success. But she is determined to take charge of her own life and do what is best for her instead of trying to please others.

It's city girl vs. small town boy. Opposites attracting with volatile sexual chemistry. Once they figure out that it is better to use their strong reactions for pleasure vs. arguing things are much more pleasant.  They find more common ground than they expect. And Luke could use a little advice from a smart, business oriented woman. But the clock is running down and their lives are headed in opposite directions. And she is still harboring secrets that might not be looked at favorably.

A man too stubborn and scared to ask her to stay. And a woman too proud to beg for love and acceptance. They are both strong-willed, scared, and stuck in their own heads. It's a stand off and either they will both win or both lose.

This was a light, funny, sexy, and sweet read about taking charge of life and finding love and acceptance. I enjoyed the setting in charming Shady Grove, Texas with the quirky characters and close knit community. I especially liked his twin, Duke, and their sister, Molly. And Valentina and Audrey were both dynamic and fun. I could see the possibility of  a few more stories coming after this one.

Charlotte Freemont is stuck in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere with a broken-down car and no intention of sticking around longer than it takes to fix it. She is trying to change her circumstances and make it away from her family, but hadn’t planned on a stop in Texas before reaching California.

Luke Wilder has lived in the same small town his whole life, so the minute he sees her, he knows she is out of place. But knowing she doesn’t belong doesn’t stop him from giving into the attraction he feels for the spirited woman. Trying to keep his family’s distillery running leaves little time for himself, not that he’s ever complained, but he’s also looking for help to get things off the ground again and give them some breathing room.

Neither think they can have more than a few days of smoking hot chemistry, but neither is prepared for what happens when the chemistry becomes more than physical and opposites attract. Luke has been burned before and isn’t a fan of making himself vulnerable, while Charlotte feels the need to continue the plans she made before her car breaks down. Each has to battle their own preconceived notions before they can make anything work, and even then, there are outside forces that will make things even more difficult.

Overall, the drama level in the book was low. I enjoyed watching as Luke meddled in Charlotte’s car repairs both to help her out and further his own cause. Luke needs help too, and as it turns out Charlotte has skills that he is looking for to help the business. Together, they may just have what the other needs.
This is a fun enemies to lovers story with a small town twist. I always love small town settings, as the side characters have a charm (and nosiness) that is only found in small towns and this is no exception. Every minute spent reading this was filled with smiles and chuckles as Charlotte and Luke went from arguing about everything to battling a needs to see if they had a future.
