Wealthy socialite Olivia Barton never imagined her fiancé would disappear on what was supposed to be a routine business trip. She's even more heartbroken and confused when a hired private investigator tracks him half a world away, to a seaside town in Colombia. But the country has recently been ravaged by a massive earthquake and deadly tsunami, shutting down outside communication and making travel all but impossible. Still, Olivia is determined to make it to Colombia to find the answers she so desperately seeks. What she needs is a guide—a mercenary.

The man named Thomas arrives in shadows, an unmistakable air of danger about him, promising to help lead her through the ruined, crime-infested country. But when Thomas and Olivia find themselves fighting an undeniable attraction, danger takes on a whole new meaning. Then again, in the lush jungles of South America, all the rules are different and Thomas and Olivia are about to discover that sometimes the thing you seek, isn't necessarily the thing you find.

Seek is a STANDALONE novel with a small, fun connection to the Sign of Love Collection

So Mia Sheridan snuck this new release out there without much warning. It is a bit shorter than her usual ones(although it did not feel like it), and a bit different style. But she managed to write a romantic suspense book that still has all of the layers and emotional impact so that it pulled me in, kept me captivated, and put me through all the feels.

Olivia Barton is a woman who needs answers. Her fiance' has disappeared and was located in an unexpected place...a place that will require her to seek a guide to get her safely there. She's used to being left behind, not having love and support, but she cannot rest until she sees if he needs help or she at least gets closure.

Thomas is her new hired guide. He is stoic, mysterious, closed-off, intense, and capable. His own past has shaped the man he has become, and he has his own insecurities he keeps locked down. He is a mercenary, a hunter, a protector, and not afraid of danger. But he does not do feelings or attachments.

She has no real idea what to expect and no choice but to trust him. Their journey through Colombia will test both of them physically, mentally, and emotionally. They will face challenges, and threats, as well as a building of attraction, chemistry, and trust that could be the most real danger for them both. They keep getting closer as their mission progresses unraveling their hidden layers and motivations. Both have never felt like they belonged or had real love or family. And due to circumstances it does not seem like that is likely to change.

Thomas will do anything to keep her safe, but does that include keeping her safe from him or what she is seeking?

Their connection is raw, powerful, hard to ignore, and in complete opposition to both of their agendas. But there is even more at stake than either of them could know. This is the story of two lonely people who are finding more than they bargained for and not really sure what to do about it.

It is fast-paced, action-packed, mysterious, suspenseful, heartbreaking, passionate, and full of surprises. I could not put it down and became completely attached to the damaged, but strong  characters. Not only was I full of tension from the action, thrills, and suspense, but my heart took a beating from the emotional turmoil, angst, and drama. This book packed a lot in, and really did take me on an unforgettable journey. It should not have surprised me that Mia Sheridan can even make my eyes tear up during what I thought would be just an action, adventure story.

I was gifted a copy.
Mia Sheridan has a new (surprise!) standalone, and once again she has rocked it. This is a little bit of a departure from what I expect from Mia, as this has a great thread of suspense running through the plot. Though I guess by now, I should expect the unexpected with Mia, because she surprises me with something every time!

Olivia Barton knows something isn’t right with the way her fiance disappeared during a business trip to Miami. The PI she hired was able to track him to a tiny town in Colombia, which has also been wracked by a major earthquake and tsunami. Communication and travel in and out of the town is dangerous, but Olivia needs answers, so she also needs a guide.

Thomas is mysterious and dangerous, but he promises to get her where she wants to go. Their trip is filled with surprise and unknown as they move further away from everything Olivia knows and into uncharted territory.

The danger that ran in the wings of every scene kept me turning pages quickly, desperate to learn what Livvy and Thomas would face and how they could work through the various situations they faced. On top of that was wondering exactly what had brought Alex to Columbia instead of Miami in the first place, and what Livvy would find when she found him.

Watching things develop between Thomas and Livvy was both surprising and delicious. These two could not be further from similar. Though Thomas shares very little about himself, it is clear that his background is night and day compared to Livvy. They are both harboring broken pieces of themselves that drive their choices.

But there is that old saying that intense situations breed intense emotions and these two feel the tension building between them as they get closer to their destination. Things are raw and intense between them, especially as Thomas lets a few of his walls down in the jungle.

I loved that even though I thought I had some major plot points figured out, I was still surprised by the twists I couldn’t imagine. This is a great combination of suspense and romance, with heat and action at every turn. This was both a quick read and one that felt full and rich -- it didn’t feel like a short book.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
