Kiss Me Forever
Montgomery Ink Legacy #10

Falling for your enemy is bad. Falling for the man you only call your enemy is worse.

Reece Fox is a decade older than me but I’m his boss. And if the man growls at me one more time, he’s going to learn the true meaning of the Montgomery temper. Yet I can’t stop thinking of him.

After losing my fiancé, I’ve sworn off men, but when Reece does the one thing I never thought he’d do—ask for help—I can’t walk away.

Brooklyn Montgomery is too young for me. She’s not only my boss, but my friend’s family. The definition of forbidden. We both know this. But I can’t keep my hands off of her. When we finally give into the heat between us, there’s no going back.

Only when a little girl shows up at our work, she changes our world completely with one word:

Dad.

Kiss Me Forever is an age gap, workplace, surprise single dad contemporary romance featuring Brooklyn and Reece. Each book can be read as a complete standalone. An HEA is guaranteed!

Brooklyn thought she found the love of her life, but while planning their forever, he unexpectedly dies. Picking herself back up, she focuses on work and family, while trying to hold on to the memories of the life she was so close to building.

Reese has worked for the Montgomerys for some time, becoming the resident expert on fire restoration. He is startled when he learns he has a 12 year old daughter that he is suddenly the sole guardian for. Bella is grieving her mom, and Reese has no understanding of parenting or children, let alone helping Bella process her grief.

I loved Bella’s relationship with Brooklyn. I have suspicions about what drew them together, beyond a female presence, and I loved watching Bella settle in and form a connection with Brooklyn. There were times I loved the love these two were developing more than I loved the main storyline. But it is an important part of Brooklyn and Reese’s story and it was one of my favorite aspects of the book.

Reese and Brooklyn are explosive together. They bicker and push each other’s buttons in a way that points to simmering attraction. But Reese isn’t looking for a girlfriend (and doesn’t want to fool around with a Montgomery since he loves his job), and Brooklyn both hasn’t moved on from her fiance yet, and also feels like Reese is too old for her. But Bella’s need for support gives them a reason to spend more time together.

There is additional drama with Bella’s grandparents and the couple that would have been Brooklyn’s in-laws had their son lived. Both families are from upper-crust social circles and insert themselves in both business and family matters because of a sense of superiority and privilege.

This is an age-gap, surprise single-father, workplace romance that was easy to read and everything I have come to expect from the Montgomery world. There are plenty of cameos from family members of both generations. I always appreciate that even though this family is so large, and there are so many books in the various Montgomery series, it is not difficult to figure out who is who (or if it becomes confusing the characters joke about the confusion on page). This is a series that always feels like you’ve been invited to sit alongside the boisterous family.

 Just Playing For Keeps
Hockey Ever After #2
Lauren Blakely
Amazon
Audible ➜ Erin Mallon & Jason Clarke narrate in duet with a full cast! Goodreads
June 3, 2026

A grumpy/sunshine fake dating hockey romance from #1 NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely!Ever hear the story about the dating coach who got dumped on the hockey arena’s jumbotron?

Everyone did. But I lived it. Including the moment when Lake Axelrod, the team’s broody, tattooed right winger, swooped in on skates to rescue me from public humiliation.

Even more surprising? When the famously grumpy (and ridiculously sexy) hockey star insists on being my fake boyfriend for my sister’s high-profile wedding.

It’s the perfect plan. His family stops pressuring him to settle down, and I’ll get the ultimate revenge, since my ex is the best man. Bonus – I might even salvage my professional reputation.

We need rules though.

To pull this off, everyone from his teammates to my boss has to believe we’re a real couple. That means swoony touches and knee-weakening kisses are required. When it ends, we walk away. But the intensity in Lake’s eyes after every post-game kiss makes me wonder if he’s pretending. With each whispered secret, the line between fake and real bends. Until it shatters one night in a hotel room.

Soon, he isn’t just playing the protective boyfriend—he’s the only one who truly sees me.

If I’m not careful, I’m going to break the most important rule of don’t fall for your fake date.

This is Lake and Remy's romance. Tropes grumpy/sunshine hockey romance, fake dating, workplace romance, best friend's brother, obsessed hero

Remy just got dumped, and an unexpected hero emerges. Her friend's brother wants to make it better, and he is more than willing to say yes to a fake wedding date. They are sticking it to her former lover, and he is getting to spend time with his secret crush who he knows he would ruin.

How do I love Lake Axelrod? Let me count the ways. What’s not to like about a grumpy,  growly,  chivalrous, hockey guy with a sweet cinnamon roll center? Everyone kind of thought he was just  closed-off and a bit antisocial, but now that he has a chance to hang out with his secret crush, he’s thoughtful, generous, and just wants to make her feel cherished, even if they’re only spending time in a fake romance capacity to get through her sister‘s wedding events and publicity.

Remy has been through it. Getting dumped in a public way is definitely a hit to her ego, but Lake's attention certainly is a distraction and begins to become a little bit of an obsession for her as well. He’s secretly liked her for a long time, but just doesn’t feel like he’s worthy enough for her, and he has this hero complex where he wants her to have the best.

They’re both a bit banged up and broken from relationships, but they’ve developed this easy camaraderie, companionship, just have fun, and there’s just the zing and zap of electricity and attraction between them. They're secretly crushing but testing things out on a temporary, fake basis of this dating format, but under the surface, it may be more real than either of them is willing to admit.

But they both have fears, insecurities, and past relationship drama that make them think that nothing real could ever come of this. So there’s this escalation, and they’ll start really enjoying things and then one of them will realize that they might have to hit the brakes because this is getting too scary. But I loved seeing their vulnerability and then getting to know each other more intimately. I liked that they tried to be a safe space for each other to share. And then there are other relationship-type things woven into the plot between events and to-do lists.  But they are basically little adventures they can share together that just helped build their foundation even more. And in the background, you’ve got the girl gang and the teammates and the families really rooting for them and seeing that there’s more to it than just this helping each other out situation.

These two just made me so happy (and sad when they were apart). They are just such a breath of fresh air, and I loved how they moved on from their past pain and were able to fall in love, fight for it, and just bask in the glow of it. They had some challenges and things to work through, and showed growth in themselves, each other,  and with their families. I loved that no one believed it was fake but them, even when they were in denial or fearful of rejection. The list is a nice touch, and I loved how they are continuing it

Bless these two, they were a bit of oblivious, but I think it was rooted in a fear of rejection and the fact that they were just such good people that they wanted the other one to have the best, and they weren’t always sure if that was going to work out for them. But I honestly loved that Lake is a man of decision at least in his own mind. He may have had trouble getting it out there, but when he decides what he wants, he’s not wishy-washy. She has a hard time being totally honest, not only because of a fear of rejection but also because she feels like she’s got to be this perfectionist. So even though we know how they’re feeling it’s the actual communication of that in the situations they find themselves in that help drive the plot along with external factors. Sometimes it’s just refreshing when it’s not just a lot of fighting their own feelings, and it’s really just that they don’t fit in the boundaries that they set and they’re not sure how the other one feels about the whole thing.

Their family dynamics added a lot more depth to their own personalities and motivations for some of their actions. But I really loved the times where they were vulnerable and sharing secrets and developing this trust and rapport, and just began to hope that maybe there’s a chance that the good feelings they were feeling don’t have to be temporary and that they can have more with the right person.

It’s a hockey romance mixed with a bunch of wedding events, and it’s a grumpy sunshine, broody and bright, little sister's friend, opposites attract, fake romance, and revenge on the ex. It brings back the Golden State Foxes and some of the girl friends from the previous books. I absolutely adored these two together. They had me just smiling and captivated the entire time.
Remy gets the surprise no one wants projected on the jumbo-tron - her “let’s just be friends” breakup rather than the proposal she thought was coming. Lake is her best friend’s brother and a player on the hockey team Remy works for. He has always crushed on Remy, though she is none the wiser. What starts as a plan to fake-date, including attending Remy’s sister’s upcoming wedding, turns into a steamy fling that has them both questioning if their fake could turn real.

I loved watching these two together. Lake saw the breakup from across the ice and as someone who cares for Remy, did what he could to deflect the attention. Swooping in to support her and make sure she doesn’t wallow after the breakup gives him the perfect opportunity to spend extra time with her. He is attentive, devoted, and protective towards Remy, even as their public relationship is a farce. I loved all the ways he did what he could to help her heal from her previous relationship, and also to grow in her personal goals.

There are so many sweet moments throughout this book, as Remy plans dates for other people, her ideas for her own dates are full of creativity. But Lake has a knack for finding ways to surprise Remy with his insight into what she would enjoy (except maybe napping).

As usual for Lauren Blakely’s books, this is full of witty banter, adorable rescue pets, and a close-knit group of friends and teammates, creating a fun, easy romance. I look forward to more from the Golden Foxes and the community they are part of.

Remy

I lift my chin, look in the mirror in the dressing room, and meet his gaze. “Thank you. For coming in here.”
“Only place I want to be.” He lowers his face, gazing at my body as he runs his hands over my bare shoulders and coasts them down my arms, slow and sensual. When he reaches my hands, he slides his fingers through mine. A double clasp, and it feels like a reassuring embrace from behind me. I’m fizzy everywhere, bubbles popping in every cell.
He meets my gaze straight on in the mirror again. “You’d better go put on some lipstick, Remy. I’m going to do everything in my power to absolutely f*&k it up on camera.”

Our 4.5/5 star reviews

Breaking the rules has never tasted so good…

How did I end up opening a bakery with my brother’s hockey star best friend?

Start with one cake disaster, add a dangerously hot pro athlete, and mix in a steamy encounter that definitely wasn’t supposed to happen.

But when the sexy, single dad hockey player saves me from a cake contest catastrophe, I do something reckless: ask him to go into business with me.

I’m out of options—no loan, no backup plan—and this bakery is my last chance to prove I’m more than my past mistakes.

Now we’re partners, and we agree that one moment up against the door stays in the past.

Not that Corbin makes it easy.
He sends flowers when I’m down.
Braids my hair before we bake.
Gives me his jersey to wear to games.
Shows up late to test recipes… then stays way too long.

When we find a box of old love letters tucked inside a bakery cupboard, suddenly, our story feels just as risky—and just as impossible to resist.

Maybe some rules are meant to be broken. No matter the cost to our dreams.

Welcoming The Recluse
Forestville Silver Foxes book 7
Nora Phoenix
Amazon
May 28, 2026

I’m a man on a mission to stay as far away from everyone else as possible. I have too much damage as a veteran, and this is the only way to keep those I love safe—especially Boden, my teenage son, whom I haven’t seen in years.

I find a quiet spot on top of a mountain where no one bothers me. Until Arek shows up, the local doctor and a single dad to teenage twins. I help him with an emergency, but something happens. There’s a spark, a connection between us I’ve never felt before.

We become friends, and slowly but surely, he’s the reason I come down the mountain. Even though I’ve never been attracted to a man, I’m very much into Arek, and our friendship grows into more.

But the past never stays in the past, and if I want a future with Arek, I’ll have to deal with the mistakes I’ve made. Can I repair what I broke, or is it too late to find healing?

Welcoming the Recluse is a super slow burn, friends-to-lovers MM romance set in a small town, featuring two older single dads, a bi awakening, and all the hurt/comfort. This is book 7 in the Forestville Silver Foxes series but can be read as a standalone. Please mind the content warnings in the front of the book.

Macallister Heald is an army veteran with PTSD who self-isolates to protect others. He’s been living on the mountain, restoring an old campground and mostly keeping to himself except for necessary trips into town for supplies.

Arek Jacobson is a newer Doctor in town. He's a single dad with two teenage boys.  Mac and Arek’s paths crossed once in a very casual way and then in two more intense interactions. And it’s enough to make Arek want to be friends and possibly find ways to help him deal with his issues.

I really felt for Mac because he was basically trapped in his own self-isolation. He wanted to be able to have connections. He missed his son. But he didn’t want to ever do anything to hurt them, so he hurt himself in a self-sacrificing way and stayed out of people's lives.

Arek is kind, empathetic, and also dealing with his own issues he tries to hide. He is an overthinker, caretaker, fixer, and running on empty between work and his home life. I loved his relationships with his twins and enjoyed seeing the differences in the twins' personalities.

As a tenuous friendship and deeper connection develop between Arek and Mac, so does an attraction and need for touch and care.  I really liked these two guys together. They were both mature, caring, and really needed the connection, but at the same time were afraid of it. Seeing them be vulnerable and understand each other touched my heart.

It’s a new friends-to-lovers, bisexual awakening, hurt-comfort, small town, romance about healing, connection, and found family.
This was such a beautiful and heartfelt story. These two men seemed so opposite, but they both had built up these big walls and put on these façades for others to protect themselves and used coping strategies to just get through life. But as they started to truly see under their facades and their walls just started to crack apart, it’s just so emotional and intense at times.

From the little interactions to a burgeoning friendship to an unexpected attraction, bi-awakening, and relationship, it was just a very organic process. And then when you pulled in the aspects of each of them having teenage sons, it added a whole other layer to their lives. I loved seeing the family moments and seeing Mac's World just open up and change, and seeing Arek finally allow people to help take care of him instead of being the caretaker for everyone else. These men found something meaningful to help take away their loneliness and fear of not being enough, but it also meant a lot to the sons,  so the found family and the whole becoming part of the community aspects is as important as the love story. I honestly think this is my favorite of the series, and it took me by surprise how invested in them I was.

Would you like the long or the short version of my bio?
The short? You got it.
I write steamy gay romance books and I love it. I also love reading books. Books are everything.
How was that?
A little more detail? Gotcha.
I started writing my first stories when I was a teen…on a freaking typewriter. I still have these, and they’re adorably romantic. And bad, haha. Fear of failing kept me from following my dream to become a romance author, so you can imagine how proud and ecstatic I am that I finally overcame my fears and self doubt and did it. I adore my genre because I love writing and reading about flawed, strong men who are just a tad broken..but find their happy ever after anyway.
My favorite books to read are pretty much all MM/gay romances as long as they have a happy end. Kink is a plus… Aside from that, I also read a lot of nonfiction and not just books on writing. Popular psychology is a favorite topic of mine and so are self help and sociology.
Hobbies? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Just kidding. I love traveling, spending time near the ocean, and hiking. But I love books more.

TAI
Ten years ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life.

When Hawke left for the NHL and my hockey dreams went up in smoke, I ghosted my best and longest friend. It made sense at the time, but there hasn’t been a day where I haven’t missed him.

So when we run into each other again, and his only response is “Do I know you?”, I know I deserve it. But I refuse to let one mistake keep us apart forever. Especially when he has bigger problems, and I’m in a position to help him

JENSEN
All I wanted this offseason was to spend my time relaxing—not getting an emergency phone call from Mom to come home. My hometown is full of too many memories of me and Tai so I avoid returning there as much as I can.

But now I have one more memory to add to the list: my high school girlfriend.

And the kid we apparently had together.

Kasen hates me and thinks I abandoned them, and my only way to get to him is through his coach. My ex-best friend. The friend that has been impossible to forget. No matter how much I’ve tried.

Add to Goodreads Want to Read Shelf

“I have your friend here. You better come pick him up.”
“My friend?” I’m trying to work my sleepy brain. “Who?”
“Jensen Hawke.”
That’s the last name I’m expecting. Sure, we went out together there a few times when we were twenty-one but it wasn’t long after that Hawke left. How the hell does Derry even remember that? “He’s not my friend.”
“Well he’s here, he’s drunk off his face and causing issues, so if you don’t come and get him, I’ll be forced to call the police.”
Motherfucker. “Aren’t you supposed to make sure you don’t over serve people?” Apparently I’m irritable when I’m tired and being dragged out of bed.
I am getting out of bed though. One foot in front of the other while my body tries to tug me back down onto the mattress.
“Police it is,” he says.
“Stop,” I groan before he can hang up. “I’m on my way. Just give me a second to get changed and I’ll be there.”
“Appreciate it. See you soon.”
I pull a face at my phone when I hang up then hurry to tug on some shorts and a T-shirt. Sleeping only in my briefs makes that easier, I guess.
Hawke is going to owe me for this. I have private coaching classes from six tomorrow and I’m already going to be wrecked from a day of working outside.
I’m halfway to the bar when it occurs to me that I should have left Derry to call the cops. What the hell do I care? Mine and Hawke’s friendship ended ten years ago by my choice.
And here I am, running to his aid.
Okay, it’s possible that the fresh memory of him is dredging up things I’d always kept buried. No matter how many friends I make as an adult, there’s a disconnect between what I have with them, and the kind of ride or die friendship I had with Hawke.
Maybe friendships born out of stupidity, competition, and the shared trauma of high school isn’t something that you can replicate as an adult. It’s one of those priceless things you either have forever, or for the time you need to grow into yourself.
Hawke and I were that second option, but damn if I don’t wish it was the first.
I get to Derry’s too fast for my thoughts, and walk into the usual Saturday night thrum. The music is loud, the laughter is louder, and as I weave my way through people, I spot the one black cloud at the bar.
He’s hunched over, gripping his empty glass like it’s the only thing keeping him on his stool, and there’s a ring of empty space between him and the rest of the room that nobody wants to cross.
And I’m the lucky guy who gets to do it.
With a deep breath that does nothing for my courage, I pull out the stool beside him and sink down onto it.
“Should we try this again?” I ask.
All I get is a glower in return.
“Since your memory is so terrible, I’m Tai Barrett. The guy you were best friends with between the ages of … I dunno … thirteen and twenty-one.”
“Fuck off.”
My lips twitch. “Ah, so you do remember me?”
“I said fuck off.” He’s slurring, which means he’s drunk way too much to still be upright.
“I could, but Derry called me and basically said that you leave with me, or you leave with the police. Your call.”
“The police.”
I almost laugh at that. Hawke has always been a bit of a stubborn ass, but it was never in an aggressive or bitter way. More that he’d bet until he was blue in the face—or Google proved him wrong—that he was right about something and was always ready for any competition to prove that he’s the best.
Hawke’s a winner. It’s always been in his nature.
So this loser sitting drunk at the bar does not match up with my memory of him.
“I don’t think you mean that.”
His laugh holds no amusement. “You know shit about me. Go away.”
“I can’t do that.”
“Why?”
“Because who else will pull out their phone and record the great Jensen Hawke being arrested and post it for all the world to see?” His glare bores into me even as I tap my chin like I’m thinking. “Oh that’s right. The whole bar. Especially those guys over there who have worked out exactly who you are.”
Hawke grunts, goes to take another sip from his glass and then snarls when he remembers it’s empty. “Like it could make the day any worse.”
“Well it’s definitely not making a bad day better.”
“Neither is talking to you.”
Considering I wasn’t even sure I wanted to haul my ass out of bed for this guy, he should be annoying me more than he is. But even with him being an asshole, there’s something about his presence that’s reeling me in, the same way it always did when we were younger.
