Moments.

Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday's hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow's promises.

I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.

I was ten years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

6 HUGE STARS and that was with one of my biggest pet peeves in a book!!

Wow!! I haven't loved a book this much since I don't know when; it absolutely blew me away.

The. Feels.

Move over Kellan Kyle because Brooks Tyler just stole the show!!

The Silent Waters utterly and completely gutted me, in every way possible. My pain for Brooks and Maggie ran soul deep, shredding me. With each turn of the page, I was a twisted roller coaster of emotions. A total blubbering mess. My sobs and sniffles so loud I was surprised I didn’t wake up my family. And when I thought all was lost, Ms. Cherry put me back together, slowly piece by piece. Healing every inch of my soul, until there wasn’t any room left for heartache and sadness.

Brittainy C. Cherry's voice is absolutely stunning. So tangible and rich. Each word written was packed with intricate details and emotions. Each character developed to perfection.

If you are looking for a highly emotional book with low angst between the protagonists (angst comes from outside sources) than I really, really suggest one clicking this book.

P.s. Don't read in public, and make sure to buy stock in tissues. Oh, and be prepared, you may find yourself saying a few choice words for Ms. Cherry s time or two.

A few of my favorite quotes (for a girl who never highlights, I had about 67 of them in this book)...

"We were thunderstorms and sunlight all at once."

“You know that moment when you discover a new song? You think, no big deal, you’ve heard a lot of new songs, and this one’s gonna be like all the rest, but when the introduction hits
your ears and it rockets through you, you feel it in your bones. Then when it hits the chorus, you know. You just know. You know that song is going to change you forever. You’ll never be able to remember your life without those rhythms, those lyrics, those chords. When the song ends, you race to replay it, and each time you hear it, it’s better than you remembered. How is that possible? How could the same words mean more and more each time? You play it over and over again until it’s ingrained in you, until it races through your body, becoming the flow that makes your heart beat...

Maggie May, you’re my favorite song.”

"It didn’t matter how many moments gathered together to form the love. It didn’t matter if it was right or wrong. Love didn’t come with guidelines. It flowed into a person with only hope as its current. There wasn’t a list of rules to follow, making sure you cared for it correctly. It didn’t give you instructions to keep it pure. It simply showed up quietly, praying you wouldn’t let it slip away."

“Someday you’re going to wake up and leave your house, Magnet, and you’re going to discover the world. Someday you’re going to see the whole wide world, Maggie May, and on that day, when you step outside and breathe in your first breath, I want you to find me. No matter what, find me, because I’m going to be the one to show it to you. I’m going to help you cross things off your to-do list. I’m gonna show you the whole wide world."
