“Pain can leave even the strongest of people weak and hollow

Max DeLucca has spent seven years trying to forget the betrayal of his past.
He lives his life from day to day never looking forward and never looking back. The walls around his heart keep anyone from getting too close and prevent him from feeling too much… until he meets her.

Her entire life, Janie Silver searched for the kind of love that wouldn’t leave her broken and more importantly, wouldn't leave her behind. She longs for a love that can heal the wounds of her past and give her the future she knows she deserves. She thought she was looking for something that just didn’t exist…until she meets him.

Danny’s on Main is where their story begins.
A neighborhood bar where strangers become friends, friends become family
and some … become lovers
… it all started on Thursday Nights

Imagine CHEERS with hot people with troubled pasts and fear of relationships and you get THURSDAY NIGHTS. This is the story of friends who have become a pseudo family. It all began in a bar on Thursday nights and continued to "family dinners" on Sundays. The characters of Max, Janie, Lyla, Ashley, Ryan, Kyle, Julie, and Danny are all interesting, mostly likable, but damaged or troubled in some way.

This book focuses mostly on Max and Janie. They both have past issues that have scarred them and influence how they view relationships. Janie is looking for her Knight to save her and Max swears he will never be in a relationship again. But they really like each other and have hot chemistry together and get pushed into an attempt at "Friends with benefits". The benefits are fantastic, but they have issues being honest with themselves and each other about what they really wants and need. And a complicated dance begins of coming together, running away, pushing away, and being pulled back. Max is smoking hot and could be really sweet and protective. But he also has serious issues that he has to face before he can really even attempt anything more with Janie. And he might just require too much fixing for Janie to be able to handle. Janie is supportive, loving, strong, and kind.  I found myself really liking them together, but alternately wanting to shake them both or lock them in a room together and force them to talk honestly.

The desire to feel needed and loved kept leading her to the wrong guys, but she kept trying to find her own "Happily Ever After" anyway. As unrealistic as she knew it may be, she couldn't let go of her childhood fantasies, the ones where she dreamed that one day, someday, she would find someone who would make her feel whole. Complete. Cherished.

She was the one woman who made him wish he could have a relationship. If he still possessed his heart, he would give it to her.

Her sassy best friend Lyla has her own set of issues and complications. But she is a good support of Janie and even Max. She has a good heart, but also hides behind her insecurity. She is interested in Max's mysterious friend Sebastien Gage, but he also has issues that he needs to handle before he is willing to fully pursue Lyla. But they are seriously hot together and the sexual tension oozes off the page. Cannot wait to see more from them in the next book.

She was no longer a full person, just a bunch of broken pieces held together with glue and hope. She didn't want or need a man in her life. She could talk care of herself.

"You deserve a man who is going to worship you--body and soul. And I am going to be that man...But it is not going to be tonight. It can't be."

Kyle is kind of the lone friend with no attachment. But he is a big mess and is majorly troubled. He needs some work on himself to be fit to try to get close to anyone.

And then there are Ashley and Ryan. They are room mates with a whole mysterious quirky relationship that n oone can figure out. Are they or aren't they? Hopefully, we will find out in the next book Storm Front.

And the most easy going and healthy couple is Danny and Julie who own the bar and have kind of adopted this whole motley crew. They are smart, experienced, and level headed and provide good advice and support to their friends.

This book was angsty, emotional, sweet, sexy, romantic, and entertaining. It has heart breaking moments and sweet swoony ones. The characters are interesting and well developed. The book is steamy and  well written. I really loved how these people came together and became such a support system and family. They are a group of damaged, broken people, but share a lot of love for each other. It is told in multiple points of view so you get into the heads of various main characters. I am looking forward to more in this series, especially more with Lyla and Gage and Ashley and Ryan.

Thanks to Lisa N. Knight for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review
