Tough Guy and the Show Off
Relationship Goals #1
Mia Monroe and K.M. Neuhold
Amazon
October 2, 2026

Beau has been my right hand man on the ice for years, but this season I'm learning a lot of new things about his wrist shot.

We’ve been best friends since our rookie year. On the ice Beau is the tough guy, quick to slam any opponent into the boards so I'm free to show off with a goal. Off the ice, I'm his protector, his wingman, and the guy who's happy to speak for him when he's all done playing nice for the day.

We’ve roomed together hundreds of nights on the road, so I was bound to walk in on him cranking one out eventually. No big deal, we all do it. So why can’t I get the image of it out of my head now? The look on his face, the sounds he was making…

Chalk it up to mid-season stress and exhaustion, I guess?

And, hey, if we’re both going to be doing it anyway, no problem if we do it at the same time. We’re both only playing with our own sticks, right?

Neither of us are looking to be the token queer players in the league, but it’s getting harder and harder to deny that something is happening here.

Beau getting traded mid-season isn’t just going to screw up my game, it feels like a whole part of me has been ripped away. How are either of us supposed to get our heads around these feelings and still crush it on the ice?

If we can figure that out we might just have a scoring chance.

Tags: Wrist shots aren’t just on the ice, what’s a jerk off between besties, Show Off takes on a new meaning in private, the Tough Guy sure likes his cuddles, they’re a bonded pair, do not separate, no catching feelings allowed (spoiler: feelings will be caught) but wait, we’re straight guys. Do straight guys kiss? They do now.

Graphics from author's Facebook page

Beau and Travis are best friends, sometimes roommates, teammates, and together they are a force on the ice and play off each other well.  Beau is the tough guy defenseman who lets Travis "Show" shine on the ice. Off the ice,  Beau is the quieter, less social, protective teddy bear while  Travis is the superstitious, golden boy, and center of attention. But together they are "ShowBeau-t" and magic. I just adored them and their friendship.

They’re just inseparable best friends and bros until one day Travis sees something he cannot seem to forget but makes things a bit awkward. So Travis takes it into his own hands to try to fix it.

And what if two bros wanna just let off a little steam together? They already do everything together, so it shouldn’t be that weird, right? But one thing leads to another, and these two seemingly straight guys are finding themselves in an unexpected situation. And when life gets a little bit more complicated, it makes things even messier and makes them realize that maybe there’s more to this than they thought.

This is a best friends, teammates-to-lovers, double bisexual awakening romance with two bros just hanging out together with secret activities.

I was not prepared for this book to sneak in and hit me so hard in the feels. It got to a point where I was really, really feeling for these guys, seeing how intense their connection is and how much they relied on each other, but then things got complicated. It really hurt my heart. But it also gave them opportunities for growth and to figure out what they really needed to be happy and what was most important to them. Once things got going, their physical chemistry was off the charts, and they had already had this very established personal friendship and were in sync on the ice as teammates as well. So the physical and eventually emotional component just added layers to an already strong bond.

I liked getting the little cameos from the Gymbos, and I’m looking forward to more in this series.

Author K.M.Neuhold is a complete romance junkie, a total sap in every way. She started her journey as an author in new adult, MF romance, but after a chance reading of an MM book she was completely hooked on everything about lovely- and sometimes damaged- men finding their Happily Ever After together. She has a strong passion for writing characters with a lot of heart and soul, and a bit of humor as well. And she fully admits that her OCD tendencies of making sure every side character has a full backstory will likely always lead to every book having a spin-off or series. When she’s not writing she’s a lion tamer, an astronaut, and a superhero…just kidding, she’s likely watching Netflix and snuggling with her husky while her amazing husband brings her coffee.

Axe Backwards
Axford Brothers #3
May Archer
September 15, 2026
eBook | Audio | Model Paperback | Alternate Cover Paperback

A fake engagement to the hot sheriff who escorted me to family camp? Weirdly delightful.
Failing to tell him that my family is a bunch of professional thieves? Small oversight.

I left the Callahan family business years ago. These days I’m a law-abiding citizen. A photographer who takes nothing but pictures. A man who’s learned not to get greedy for anything… or anyone.

But my family hasn’t gotten that memo, so I expect my week at family camp to be filled with guilt-trippy attempts to lure me back into the fold.

Until Holden Axford comes along… and everything goes axe backwards.

Winsome’s gorgeous sheriff was supposed to be nothing more than a one-night-stand. He doesn’t have a clue why I’m dreading this week, but he takes his protection game seriously. So when he thinks I need a rescue, he steps in and declares himself my fiancé… and I’m too busy swooning to argue.

Now Holden’s sharing my bed, stealing kisses like Callahans steal Rembrandts, planning a camp heist (for fun, obvs!), and charming my family of criminals.

Our motto is ‘Callahans don’t get caught’ but nobody warned me about catching feelings.

Unfortunately, secrets don’t stay buried forever. And when someone forces the Callahans toward one last impossible job, protecting the family I love means becoming the man I swore I’d never be again.

But if Holden learns the truth about my past, it’ll be goodbye fake engagement, goodbye sheriff… goodbye heart.

Character Graphics From Author's newsletter

Holden Axford is the Winsome Sheriff. He’s loyal, responsible, a rule follower, witty, and not looking for love in any way, shape, or form. He’s a one-and-done type, and he tries to avoid his matchmaking mama's attempts at all costs.

It turns out that a one-night half-stand with Merritt Callahan isn't as anonymous as hoped, and things get too close for comfort, as Merritt is friends with one of his brother’s partners. And now he’s remembering the good parts of the night that he does remember clearly and trying to talk himself out of wanting to go back for a second helping. And his brain misfire causes him to volunteer to not only drive Merritt to his family camping vacation but also to stay there and pretend that he is his fake fiancé in front of Merritt's family. He is just protective like that.

So now they’re definitely too close for comfort, and the initial attraction that started it all is back in full force. Neither of these guys wanted a relationship; that’s problem number one. Problem number two is that they don’t live in the same area and Merritt is a traveling photographer.  And problem number three is that Merritt’s family are (secretly) former thieves, while Holden is a small-town Sheriff. And lying to everyone (sometimes even themselves) is also another problem. Messy, messy, messy.

I loved seeing Sheriff-Stick-Up-His-Butt start to let go and have fun, enjoy life, and have passion outside of work. And Merritt has been running so long and just alone, and I enjoyed seeing him reconnect with his family and also feel safe, protected, and cared for by Holden. Their chemistry is amazing and they balanced each other well. They both see to the heart of each other to what the other needs, unfortunately there is a secret and some obstacles to navigate and they could be a deal breaker.

This is a small-town, one-night stand that kept going, opposites-attract,
fake engagement romance with plenty of family shenanigans, secrets, lies, humor, and a pinch of suspense. It brings back the other Axford Brothers and their significant others and their parents, as well as introduces Merritt's quirky family. I have really enjoyed the series, and I’m excited for the last Axe brother, True, to find his true love. I am excited about the match up that was teased.

Kim's 5 star review

Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Grumpy/Sarcastic Sunshine
Opposites Attract, Fish Out of Water, Small Town

Living in a treehouse? Unavoidable.

Falling for the grumpy lumberjack hottie next door? Unthinkable.

After a viral PR disaster torpedoes my marketing career, I flee Manhattan. The only place left to land? A fairy-tale treehouse in a pickle-obsessed Vermont town, left to me by an uncle I barely knew.

Yes, I said pickles.

No, I’m not okay.

But I’m only here temporarily. Just long enough to regroup, let the notoriety die down, and figure out my next steps in peace.

Unfortunately, my new neighbor has other ideas.

Beckett “the Axe” Axford–cranky local heartthrob and unapologetic tree-murderer–claims Uncle Jim made him promises about the forest around the treehouse, and he’s none too pleased when I won’t take his word for it.

Unfortunately for him, I’m done playing by other people’s rules. I’m not backing down just because some sexy–I mean grumpy–lumberjack says so, and I can handle whatever he dishes out.

Tree climbing? No problem.

Pickle festival popularity contest? Sign me up.

Kissing my unexpectedly-tender, flannel-clad nemesis in the woods after dark? I can take it, bro. And take it. And t– Ahem. You get the picture.

I’m tired of losing, so I’m not giving up my inheritance or my heart without a fight.

And if Beckett thinks differently, he can kiss my axe.

Kim's 5 star review

Falling in love with my straight best friend? Tragically inevitable.
Telling him? Completely out of the question.

Everyone in Winsome knows Robbie and I are a matched set. A package deal. Ames and Robbie, Robbie and Ames.

He’s the calm to my chaos. The sun shining through my rain cloud. The guy who convinced me to be a firefighter. The man who’s known every single thing about me since we were thirteen…

Except for the teeny, tiny, inconsequential fact that I’ve been in love with him for years.

I planned to take this secret to the grave. Robbie’s straight. He’s engaged. And I’m finally–finally–ready to move on.

But one uncontrollable blaze, one daring rescue, one inconvenient injury, and one heavily-medicated, wildly inappropriate love confession later, my plan’s up in flames.

Suddenly helpful, perfect, shirtless Robbie is bathing me, dressing me, and nursing me back to health. And if being around my gorgeous bestie 24/7 wasn’t torture enough, it seems I’m not the only one having un-platonic thoughts.

But there’s no way I’m letting myself fall into the fantasy again. Because if I let myself believe this is real and it isn’t, it won’t just break my heart… it’ll break us.

And I refuse to risk our friendship, no matter how tempting the man’s hot axe might be.

Sasha
I'm prey. Weak little helpless prey. At least, that's what I let the wild men in Wilde's End think. I haven't trusted them one bit since I've been stranded here, and after Lynx tries to kill me, I know my instincts were correct.

At least until I'm forced to spend more time with the machete-wielding animal. He's got a past he won't talk about, and a protective streak that anyone else would find suffocating.
Anyone but me.

And when he extends that protection to me, it feels better than I expect it to.

I still want out of The End, but maybe I can have a little fun first.

Lynx
I'm a predator. When I was young, I promised myself that no one would ever get past my defenses again. People call me scary and unhinged, but they can think what they like so long as my town is safe.
The influx of outsiders to Wilde's End already had me on edge, and then in stumbles Sasha. A small, weak, walking tragedy. I have no idea how he's survived this long, but something about him calls to me. Everything from his pretty eyes to the way he bites back at me and fights battles he has no chance of winning.

I'd assumed he was prey.

But the more I push, the more I feel like I'm the one being hunted.

CW: Past instance of dubious consent (not between the two MCs), self-harm (non-suicidal), references to a child's death

How do you get yourself into these messes, Sasha?
The second I'm out of Lynx's view, my whole body deflates with that thought. It's not like I do it on purpose--how was I supposed to know that tight bend would result in me crashing my car, finding myself in the company of mountain dwellers, and then being stuck here with no way to escape?
I'm supposed to be in Portland by now. Supposed to be safe. If only fucking up and finding myself in danger was a new thing for me.
I scuff my hand through my hair, frustration leaking into my already whirling brain. I wish I could blame my entire life on absent-mindedness or a series of bad luck, but I think I've passed that point of delusion. I'm working on another theory for why I always feel on the back foot, but I'm not so sure I like the conclusion I've come up with.
In fact, even in my mind it sounds fucking insane.
Before I can follow that train of thought to somewhere that's going to deepen my bad mood further, I remind myself of Portland. All I need to do is survive out here long enough for them to fix my car and then I can go back to my original plan.
Meet up with my friend.
Change my name.
Disappear into the city.
Start a quiet and boring life.
It's supposed to be foolproof because I am, in fact, a fool and I needed to future-proof against my own damn self. Wilde's End is a ... detour.
One that will be over soon enough and it'll be like it never happened.
I reach the crop fields, impressed despite myself. Everything is laid out in neat rows and meticulously labeled, which in hindsight is what got me into this manual labor mess in the first place.
Sure, I stole some food. But I still maintain that I only had to steal it because the people who live here are the furthest thing from approachable that I've ever met. Maybe if they'd tried being a little nicer, I would have asked first.
I find the potatoes and kneel down next to their bed, already dreading the feel of dirt on my hands. My fingers are stinging and even with the spade, it's no help. There's no way I'm getting this done by sunset.
I dig down around the first potato, mind wandering to Lynx's threat. What will he do if I'm not back in time?
Something tells me that Lynx isn't the kind of guy to make empty promises and that ... intrigues me. How far will he go? Sometimes he seems more animal than man and I hate how much I want to see that animal side come out.
I've thought about the first time we met more than I'd admit to anyone. How scared I'd been. How he chased me. Looking up into his vicious eyes and seeing indecision there. Like he needed to kill me, but didn't actually want to. I still have no idea if he would have gone through with it if his pet bobcat didn't save me, and I hate that I don't have the answer.
I need to let it go. Obviously. It's not healthy to fixate on something so messed up ... except the more I dig, the further into the memory I go.
It's just the crack of the storm overhead, hair plastered to my face with rain, shivers racking my body from the cold and fear, and Lynx holding me down, features twisted inhumanly.
A dull thump pulls me back to the late afternoon where the rain is replaced by sweat, and my fear is quickly eaten by irritation.
I glance across to figure out what made the noise and find Lynx standing over me. I didn't hear him approach, which is a worry in itself, but even worse than that is the deep twist in my gut that I get every time I see him.
He's an ... odd looking man. Gaunt cheeks, sharp eyes that remind me of a cat, and that weird hairstyle with his bright red hair shaved on one side and growing wild on the other.
I only realize I'm staring when he drops eye contact and nods to something between us. Following his gaze, I find a pair of gloves sitting in the soil.
"Where are your gloves?" he asks.
I brush my hands off and snatch them up. "I don't have any."
"Then why didn't you ask for some?"
Is he serious? I wait for the gotcha moment that doesn't come. "Sorry, you don't exactly scream helpful and accommodating."
"What does being helpful and accommodating have to do with it? If you need supplies, you need supplies. You can't provide for yourself if you're injured."
"Cute of you to think I can provide for myself when I'm not injured."
Judging by his scowl, he doesn't like my answer. So be it. I am who I am at this point. My parents have long since given up on me and while it hurt at first, I've come to terms with it. We weren't compatible.
They wanted me to go to college and get a real job, I wanted to stay in Wayward and have fun. Too bad that fun disappeared quickly.
Lynx huffs suddenly, looking at something over my head. "Bob, I told you to stay away."
There's an answering mewl behind me and I turn just as the animal reaches my side. He's big for a bobcat, with a sweet face, and so much fur I want to bury myself in it.
"Hello," I coo, offering my hand that Bob sniffs once before head butting it. "Okay, okay," I laugh, giving in to offer him head scritches. He's so damn cute, eyes drifting closed, and purr loud enough that it almost drowns out Lynx's voice.
"What the hell are you doing?"
"Petting the little kitty."

The Boyfriend Proposal
Appleton Farms #3
Felice Stevens

September 2, 2026

Theo
I’m just me—plain, boring Theo. Everyone’s friend but no one’s boyfriend. Dating apps don’t work for me, and the one time I try to change my image is a total disaster.
All I want is someone to come home to and hold hands with. A boyfriend who’ll love me. It doesn’t help that I have this silly crush on Jaxon Polaris, our sexy, gorgeous, district attorney. He’s a flirt who’s never without a date. No matter how nice he is to me, I know the truth. A man like Jaxon would never be interested in someone like me.

Jaxon
I love being the district attorney of Appleton Falls, but I definitely have dreams of sitting on the bench. When the leader of the party approaches me, suggesting I run for a judgeship, I’m thrilled…until he tells me my image as a party boy might hurt me with small-town voters. I can’t deny it—I’ve had more than my share of lovers, and I’ve never hidden my desire to remain single. His suggestion? Find a nice guy and make him my boyfriend.
Problem is, I don’t know any nice guys…except shy, quiet Theo Sweeny.

Reluctantly, Theo agrees to my boyfriend proposal, and the man proceeds to challenge me at every turn. Shy? He’s stubborn and feisty. But his kisses are so sweet, and I can’t stop thinking about him. Being with Theo means I’ll have to tell him my truth—a secret that could prevent me from achieving my dreams. But the more I get to know Theo, the more I come to realize: Win or lose the election, what I’m searching for might be right here by my side.

Theo Sweeney is the pub owner in Appleton Falls. He’s a generous, nice, quiet, somewhat shy guy who would just love to find his forever person. But it just seems like he either doesn’t have things in common with his dates or gets ghosted.

Jaxon Polaris is the DA in the area who has just had some major career success. He’s out and gay, but he is a flirt and a player and has no intention of settling down. He’s charismatic, charming, intelligent, and successful. And now that they’re tossing his name around for judgeship, they are also scrutinizing his public life and suggesting that he settle down in his private life to compete with the other candidate who’s a family man.

So Jaxon comes up with a proposal for him and Theo to be in a fake relationship. He’ll help Theo gain more confidence and dating experience, and Theo will attend events and help Jaxon's image. They are supposed to have boundaries, and both know it would be a bad idea to catch feelings.

This is a slow burn, small-town, hurt-comfort, opposites-attract,  fake dating story about one man who wants love and one who does not believe in it. I loved Theo. He’s just so sweet and initially a bit awkward, and has so much love to give. But I also enjoyed seeing him gain confidence and be more honest and feisty.  And Jaxon has put on a mask for a long time to avoid getting hurt again, and I enjoyed seeing him start to let it slip and be more vulnerable. They really challenged each other and were such a good match. And they had undeniable chemistry. They both have opportunities to learn, grow, and figure out what they need to be happy.

I enjoyed spending more time in Appleton Falls, including with their friends who happen to be football and hockey players. The group keeps growing, and they look out for each other.

Kim's reveiw

Wow. I did not expect to run into Brooklyn Kings retired football star Harte McKinney in my hometown of Appleton Falls. It takes me back to my college days when I crushed on him in silence. All these years later, nothing’s changed. Even better, something in his eyes has me thinking he’s not as straight as I’d always believed.

When I find him hurt in a car crash in the snow, it’s my duty as a deputy sheriff to follow him to the hospital and make sure he’s going to be okay. Then we share an unexpected kiss, and I make him a proposal: come home with me to recuperate so we can explore these feelings behind closed doors.

Each day we spend together brings us closer, and we know we want to be together. But small towns have big eyes—we might not be able to keep what we have to ourselves much longer. My partner already suspects Harte and I are more than “just friends.” And when my mom gets an eyeful of Harte in his birthday suit…it’s time.

Let the snow fall where it may—we’re ready to come out.

There’s a fire crackling in the grate, the tree is decorated, and presents are wrapped. We’re all set to huddle together for the holidays and hope that love and magic of Christmas conquers all.

Hide And Seek

Kim's 4.5 star review

I’m finally living the life I want as a deputy sheriff in the small town of Appleton Falls. I gave up my job as a cop in the NYPD to search for the truth about a father I barely know, except finding him brought me no peace.

But I’m happy. Really. I’d love to fall in love, but it just hasn’t happened. Yet.
Then he shows up to join our force.

My old high school nemesis, Dominic Starr. The gorgeous loner and the bane of my existence.
As well as my secret fantasy.

Why did he leave the NYPD? Was he running from his powerful father? Or hiding from him?
It’s not like he wants to forgive and forget and be friends. At every turn he’s in my face, taunting and teasing me with that stupid nickname he loves and knows I hate.

Starr should be careful, because he’s got secrets only I know.

And one of them is mine as well.

But when the past we both want to leave behind crashes into our present—with deadly consequences—neither of us can hide what we’ve been running from all our lives: The future we both seek is in each other’s arms.

If we make it out alive.
