Blog Tour and Giveaway: Axel(Corps Security #1): Harper Sloan
Note from the author--This book is intended for a mature reading audience and isn't suitable for younger readers. Brash language, sexual hotness, delectable alpha males, some violence and adult situations are all over this book--you have been warned.
Fate hasn’t always been friends with Isabelle West. In fact, fate has been a downright bitch.
Isabelle has learned the hard way how hard life can be when fate isn’t by your side. It can hand you dreams on silver platters, but it can snatch them right back and hand you nightmares. One thing Isabelle knew for sure fate was consistent with was taking away everything she ever loved.
For the last two years Isabelle has been slowly clearing the clouds of her past. Happiness is finally on the horizon. She has a thriving business, great friends, and her life back. All she has to do is jump over the last hurdle…her ex-husband.
When problems start causing her to fear her new life, and memories that are better left forgotten start rushing to the surface the last thing she needs is a ghost from her past to come knocking on her door.
Axel never thought he would look into the eyes of Isabelle West again, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to now. He’s carried his anger for so long he isn’t sure he can just turn it off, but when he is faced with protecting her and an unexpected desire to have her again, life gets a little more complicated.
How will Axel and Isabelle deal when all their cards are put on the table and everything they thought was true blows up in their faces?

"One day I might figure it out, the reason fate hated me, Isabelle West. But, until that day I damn sure will be careful with my dreams and my plans; my heart and my soul. Fate might hate me, but that doesn't stop me from hoping one day she forgets about her favorite chew toy. When that day comes I hope karma has some fun with that bitch, fate."
Where to start with this one. Wow! This book had me all over the place...anticipating, angry, annoyed, frustrated as hell for the first part...And then swooning, tearing up, and sighing for the last half. And tense and in suspense through most of it.
Now communication issues in romance novels are nothing new, in fact they are very common. But I swear Axel and Izzy should win the award for worst communication skills in the beginning of this book. I seriously wanted to take them, tie them down in a room, and force them to talk. She was closed off, fragile, and angry. He was angry and fighting his feelings. They would not open their freakin' mouths and talk about the big elephant in the room. And some of their friends knew the past secrets and kept them too! I was seriously getting so frustrated....
"Get ready, Princess because I am done playing games. I don't care if it takes an eternity, you will fucking talk."
But then, once they finally got their crap together and talked. Oh my, it was sweet, it was hot, and it was swoony in a foul mouthed alpha talking way. Axel seriously does not hold back and his language and actions are not completely socially inappropriate, but on him, they work. He is all alpha bad-ass, protective, bossy, possessive, and does not play games. But he also feels deeply, loves with his whole heart, and is not willing to let go.
"I won't let you go until we figure it out. Not happening. Do you feel it? Every single thing we ever felt for each other, it is still there Izzy and I won't let you push me away. We walked back into each other's lives for a reason... There isn't one goddamn thing that will tear us apart again. Lost too much time already, Princess. Too much time that I should have had you right here in my arms… Not one day went by Izzy that my heart didn't belong to you."
These two had been separated over a decade due to a misunderstanding, communication errors, and life events. And their separation had huge repercussions on their lives, especially Izzy's. She ended up in an abusive marriage that was hard to escape. And even in the present, the nightmare continues. She drove me nuts at times. She had reason to have issues, but the whining, running, hiding, and pushing away got a little old. She has wonderful friends Dee and Greg Cage...Greg runs Corps Security and he and his band of big hot alpha hunks commit to keeping her safe. But in his attempts to bring in the best, Greg unknowingly brought her face to face with her past. But what could have been the worst thing for her, ended up a blessing.
Together Izzy and Axel have explosive chemistry, a deep connection and history, and seriously fit together. They were fated to be together and no matter how much karma kicked them in the ass, it was all worth it to get back to each other. But they shared such pain, regret, and loss that it ripped my heart out at times.
"Not one day went by Izzy that my heart didn't belong to you. To this day there has only been one woman that has and will ever hold it. Fuck, baby but the love I have for you is so fucking strong sometimes, I wonder if it will crush me."
“I still love him. This man that I have thought was forever lost to me. If I am completely honest with myself, I never stopped loving him. But, all this knowledge shouldn’t scare me. The teenage love we shared over a decade ago has grown with such a power that it will kill me if I lose it again.”
I loved each of the guys. Seriously I cannot wait for their stories. Greg Cage: Holy Moly he is all hot and sweet at the same time. He is the perfect best friend and they way he protects "his girls" is just beautiful. There is a little mystery going on with him at the end of this book and I cannot wait to find out what it is. And the others: Beck(there is already a story going on there with Dee and need to get more details!), Maddox(great friend, but his past haunts his dreams), and Coop(funny and flirty).
This is raw, gritty, emotional, sexy, and swoony read. I love seeing a big tough guy with deep emotions. And when said bad-ass cries...oh well that just does it for me...sigh... And all of these guys have great potential. But it is not a fluffy, rainbows and hearts kind of book. There are rough situations, danger, and violence. And our sweet talkers do not really talk sweet...they get their point across with their foul mouths and colorful language, but that just makes them more hot and irresistable. This book has a good mix of suspense, friendship and loyalty, and second chance romance. I am ready for the rest of the series! Next up is Cage...
Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husbands chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero--the super alpha kind!
Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
