Two secrets. One bet. Who will break first?

Taylor Caldwell can't decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate or punch him.

On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome blue-eyed bundle of charm. On the other, he's a tattooed, guitar-playing bad boy. Maybe that's why Taylor's afraid of falling in love with him, or anyone else. She doesn't want to get burned, so she needs him gone before it's too late.

Hunter himself has been burned before, but Taylor's sexy laugh and refusal to let him get away with anything make her irresistible. Determined not to be kicked out of her life without a fight, Hunter proposes a bet: if she can convince him she either truly loves or hates him, he'll leave the apartment—and leave her alone.

But when the man behind Taylor's fear of giving up her heart resurfaces, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.

The past will always find you.
Jos Archer was the girl with the perfect life; until the night it all came crashing down around her. Now, nine months later, she still hasn't begun to pick up the pieces. Even transferring to a new college and living under the watchful eye of her older sister, Renee, isn't enough to help her feel normal again.

And then she meets Dusty Sharp. For reasons Jos can't begin to fathom, the newly reformed campus bad boy seems determined to draw her out of her shell. And if she's not careful, his knowing green eyes and wicked smile will make her feel things she's no longer sure she deserves.

But even as Dusty coaxes Jos to open up about the past, he's hiding secrets of his own. Secrets about the night her old life fell apart. When the truth is finally revealed, will it bring them closer together;or tear them apart for good?

Author notes about My Sweetest Escape(from her Facebook page):
DON'T PANIC. You will see TONS of Hunter and Taylor and the rest of the gang...There will be shenanigans and you will find out what happens with Hunter and Taylor and their future. I PROMISE. Would I leave you hanging like that? No way!

I know a lot of you were hoping the sequel to My Favorite Mistake would be from Hunter's POV. My editor and I considered that, but in the end decided that it wouldn't be the best idea for a second book, for me. I know quite a few authors that have done sequels with the guy's POV, but it didn't feel right for this book, this series.
With that said, I am SO EXCITED for you all to meet Jos and Dusty and see all the things they get up to while living with Hunter, Taylor and the rest of the gang. Also, the release date is January 28, 2014, for those of you asking

"I don't like you."

Three College girls get a surprise room mate and his name is Hunter Zaccadelli! He moves in and totally changes the dynamic of their rooming situation. Taylor ends up having to share a room with him much to her horror. He makes a bet with her that if she can prove to him that she really hates him or really loves him then he will move out. It was altered later to include if she slept with him he would move out.

This book was fun and I loved the witty rapport with Hunter and Taylor. The characters were damaged, but it was not an angst fest. I loved Hunter and how he picked at Taylor and drove her to distraction. Not that it made Hunter have any more of a filter. I was pretty sure he was born without one. Well, I didn't have an anger filter. When those two things combine, it was anyone's guess.

He pushes her so hard. I really wish that we got Hunter's POV though. At least he was pretty vocal  so you did know what he was thinking much of the time. Taylor is angry, bitter, and has no interest in men or relationships. She could be little annoying as she was so resistant to Hunter's charms, but I guess that just made it sweeter when he did start to win her over. But she surely made him work for it.

"So what is with you and Hunter? I know you've got this weird I-hate-you-but-I'm-really-attracted-to-you thing going on, but could like, tone it down?"

Damn him. Damn him and his blue eyes and his interesting tattoos and his take-what-I-want-attitude. The fact that he had a tragic past just added to the mystery of Hunter Zaccadelli.

They both have incidents in their pasts that have scarred them, but it takes them a while to open up to each other about them. The build up had me in anticipation wanting to know more and wanting to see where it all would lead.

We'd been doing this dance around our separate secrets, getting close and then moving away. I didn't know which one of us was going to slip up first.

It seemed like whenever Hunter and I were together, at least one of us was trying to help the other not freak out. At least we were balanced that way.

We slowly have their secrets revealed during the book and see them grow and change. The characters find healing and love that helps them overcome tragedies in their pasts. They end up being just what each one of them needs to move forward in their lives.  These characters get under your skin and I also found myself laughing out loud at their interactions. It was a humorous, sweet, entertaining  read with underlying depth.

"I know we're both screwed up, but even screwed up people should able able to be happy."
