She's got three rules:
1. Trust no one… Eve Edens has been abandoned, used, or manipulated by almost everyone she's ever met. Born into ridiculous wealth, she's dealt with the petty jealousies and sordid little resentments for nearly thirty years. But after three botched attempts on her life, she can no longer ignore the truth. Someone wants her dead.
2. Avoid the bad boys at all costs… William "Wild Bill" Reichert, the wonderfully sexy boy who abandoned her years ago, is back in town. Only he's no boy. Now he's a covert operative - and he's all man. When Eve hires Bill to help her discover who is behind the attacks, Bill soon comes to suspect it's someone much closer to Eve than she dares to believe.
3. And never fall for the same ruse twice… The search for the killer takes Bill and Eve deep into the dark secrets and strange world of the rich and famous, and into the heart of red-hot passion re-ignited by the peril that threatens to consume them both. But does Eve dare risk her heart on Bill a second time?

Someone is trying to kill Eve Edens. She cannot get her father or the authorities to believe her and they are being ruled as accidents. She has no choice but to run to her best friend's brother William "Wild Bill" Reichart,  the guy whose heart she broke twelve years ago.

She was going to have to ask "Wild Bill" Reichart and his band of merry-covert-operative-men over at Black Knights inc. for help. Crap.
Eve and Billy have been circling around each other for the last couple of books after getting reunited 14 months ago when she and Bill's sister were taken hostage at sea in book 2: In Rides Trouble. These two have serious history with unresolved feelings and issues. He still feels hurt and rejected. She still feels guilty and lost. They avoid, seethe, and fight. But the sexual tension between them just sizzles under the surface.

Billy and his BKI partner Mac take on the task of trying to keep her safe, but danger keeps following her. And the more Billy realizes how much danger she is in, the more he realizes that he does not want to lose her or see her get hurt. But can he really forgive her for leaving him in the past?

I had to love their other BKI compadre Ace telling him to get over it:

"What you need is an old-fashioned ass-whooping....Because your ticket on the Poor-Me-I-Got-Dumped train has long expired. You need to hop off at the next stop, my friend. It's at the intersection of SuckItUp and GetTheHellOverIt."

They both fight what they really want due to trust issues, fears, and insecurities. Eve has changed from the shy, rule-following, rich Daddy's girl to a more empowered, tough, self defense wielding chick. She is done being told what to do and has learned to stand up for herself. Unfortunately, she has to do that a lot.

And Billy...He totally covers up his feelings with his macho, alpha attitude and sarcasm. But Eve is his Achilles Heel. She makes him vulnerable. He is still hurt and confused, but he never really stopped wanting her and now is forced to spend time with her and protect her.

He shook his head. At himself. At Fate. At the goddamned, never-ending, roller-coaster ride that happened to be his feelings for Eve Edens.

I really loved them together. They had been dealt a crappy hand and had made mistakes. But they obviously had something special. Fate gave them a second chance. But they have to be brave enough and care enough to take it.

It is another mysterious, dangerous, shoot 'em up story with a woman in peril and with BKI the only ones who can save the day. And it is also a second chance romance that has been brewing since they came face to face again. It is a race to figure out who the mysterious person is plotting against her. And as the secrets  are revealed, so is more information from their rocky personal past.

We also meet Delilah, a biker bar owner with an attitude and a slight fascination with Mac. He better watch out because she has her sights set on him even though he acts like that is the last thing he wants. They will be the subject of book 6: Hell for Leather.

No matter how much she liked Mac, no matter how much his sense of humor, his solid build, and his dauntless loyalty to his friends appealed to her, Mac always treated her like she was covered in poison ivy. And for the life of her, she couldn't fathom why that should be.

It was a fast paced read that was full of mystery, suspense, action, and sexual tension. It was told in multiple points of view: Eve, Billy, Mac, Delilah, and even the villian. It keeps you guessing. I was not disappointed in Billy and Eve's story and it has been a long time coming. I am looking forward to more with Mac and Delilah.
