Night After Night - CoverNIGHT AFTER NIGHT
Seductive Nights #1
A sensual, emotionally-charged erotic romance from the New York Timesand USA Today Bestselling author Lauren Blakely...

He plays to win and isn't afraid to break all the rules...

Fiery bartender Julia Bell has been hit on by her fair share of customers, but has never been tempted to dip so much as a toe in that particular dating pool. She wants a man who can claim her body AND captivate her mind. Enter Clay Nichols, a lawyer with a dirty mind and a mouth to match. Confident, sexy, and commanding, he takes Julia to new heights of pleasure. And after one unforgettable weekend together, he craves more of her. If only she hadn't taken off without saying goodbye...

Julia has no room in her life for commitment, not while she has serious trouble breathing down her neck, thanks to the criminal dabblings of a former flame. She doesn't want to involve anyone she cares about in the kind of danger that's chasing her and that's the problem with Clay--she's falling for him. Hard. He makes her heart race, and sets her body on fire.
He’s determined to keep her in his life, no matter the cost. She’s the woman he desires in every way. But when the past threatens to destroy any chance at a future, she has to make a choice --keep running, or give love a shot with a man who can hold her imagination, and her heart, night after night...

Please note: This book is intended for 18+ due to dirty talk, light bondage, and lots of sexy scenes. This ebook edition also includes the prequel novella First Night, which precedes Night After Night. The sequel, After This Night, releases May 12 and can be pre-ordered now.

Night After Night playlist highlights -

Some of the songs are mentioned in the book including:

Ignition Remix by R Kelly - This song plays in the New York restaurant scene where Clay does something to Julia under the table…

Candyman by Christina Aguilera - Julia does a striptease for Clay to this song…

And here are some of my favorites...

Roll the Dice by Koufax - I LOVE this song!!! It has such a fast, poppy beat, with just a hint of hipster to it. I heard it on a TV show called Betas that Amazon produced and carried on its video service, and the title is perfect for Julia, since she’s a gambler.

All or Nothing at All by Billie Holiday - this song is fitting for After This Night, and that’s all I’ll say about that :)

We Can Make Love by SoMo - This is Julia and Clay’s theme song. I can’t think of a better song for the two of them. “I can be tender, I can be rough” - that’s Clay in a nutshell. Then, there’s this line - “We can make love, we can just fuck.” Yep, that’s how these two lovers are together.

Brilliant Disguise by Bruce Springsteen - This is one of my favorite songs ever about lovers struggling with trust.

If you thought Clay and Julia were hot in the short novella First Night, get ready for scorching in Night After Night. Oh my...Fan yourself kind of hot chemistry, passion, naughtiness and dirty talking.

They both like control and they trade it back forth. Both always grappling for the upper hand.  They are compatible in personalities and definitely physically, but are challenged by living locations and past issues. Julia especially has some things to work out before she can really move on...some really tense, dangerous things that her ex left her to deal with on her own. Clay has some lingering ex effects as well.
Clay is flirty, bossy, magnetic, and commanding. I loved him. He knows what he wants and is not afraid to go after it. But he also has a vulnerable side too and a past that still affects him.
Julia is kick ass. She is sassy, feisty, and not afraid of adventure. But her past is not behind her and is screwing up her present and potentially her future making her think a sex only fling is all she can handle.

He hates secrets and lies. She has some big ones and is lying by omission. She wants to protect those she cares about, but will she end up losing the best thing that has happened to her?

The odds are stacked against them with distance, their pasts, and current threats. But letting go is proving to be difficult.  And even though they both exhibit fight for flight tendencies based on heir fears, insecurities and history, they keep coming back for more. Their connection and chemistry is so strong that they can't seem to forget or move on easily even when they think they should. One runs, the other chases, but how long will this go on before one gives up?

This was fun, sexy, tense, intriguing, and engaging. I really loved Clay and Julia's fiery interactions and witty rapport. Even though they both could frustrate me at times, I really want them to work everything out. And it is fun to see all of their little character connections to the other books especially with her sister McKenna and her fiance' Chris, and Davis and Michele Milo. The short story First Night made me want to see more with these characters, and Lauren really brought us some unexpected, interesting back stories and issues for them to deal with.

It will all come down to trust, opening up, and having faith in the other other one. Things that both of them have been burned by in the past. Julia has a lot to deal with that she has been doing on her own. Clay is not going to tolerate anything but full honesty. Their relationship is full of complications and challenges. I definitely want to see more of Julia and Clay. Their story is not quite over and I cannot wait to see how it all turns out in After This Night.

Holy hotness. I would fly across the country to visit Clay anytime.

After their first weekend together in First Night, Julia and Clay have planned for Julia to join Clay in New York for a weekend. But as the weekend progresses, and they spend time heating things up in Clay’s apartment and at several locations in the city, it becomes clear to both of them that this could be more than a quick fling, but also brings up several hangups that could make moving forward difficult.

Julia is hiding something big from Clay as they grow closer over her weekend in New York. Something huge. But it is also something that has her reevaluating whether she can begin a relationship with Clay. She is afraid of the blowback that could happen if anyone knows her secret, and so to protect her friends, family, and now Clay, she tells no one. But Clay has his own hangups that have kept him away from relationships. And when his biggest fears seem to be repeating themselves his reactions have little to do with his feelings and everything to do with those fears.

I love Clay, from his dirty mouth to his absolute confidence in and out of the bedroom. But his one fear may be enough to ruin what he feels building for Julia. To me, Clay is the perfect dominant rich character. He’s not so dominant as to strip the object of his desire of her own power (and in Clay’s case is just as happy to be the one dominated), but he is confident enough to know what he wants and how he wants it - in all aspects of his life.

Julia has me torn. As an individual I love her. She’s strong, sexy, and confident. Characters like Julia make me wish I had learned how to walk in sky high heels so I could carry the same confidence. Alas, I didn’t, so I just have to fake it. But she’s also got a protective streak that is getting her deeper in trouble than I think she’d be if she shared her trouble. I wish she would fess up and tell Clay what’s going on, but her reasons for keeping it a secret make sense. Sort of. She’s holding on the only way she knows how, trying to clean up a mess she didn’t create.

Knowing what we know about both characters it’s hard to fault either one for their thought processes, but at the same time, I wanted to shake both of them. Repeatedly. Night After Night left me wanting. Wanting After This Night, that is. It was hot. It was fun. It was emotional. It reaffirmed how happy I am glad that Lauren Blakely decided to write Clay and Julia’s whole story instead of just leaving it with their first night.

She holds the cards, but he doesn’t want to play her games…
Clay Nichols can’t get Julia Bell out of his mind. He’s so drawn to her, and to the nights they shared, that he can’t focus on work or business, only her. And she’s pissing him off with her hot and cold act. She has her reasons though – she’s trying to stay one step ahead of the trouble that’s been chasing her for months now, thanks to the criminal world her ex dragged her into. If only she can get out of the mess she’s in then maybe she can invite the man who ignites her back in her life, so she can have him – heart, mind and body.

He won’t take less than all of her, and the full truth too. When he runs into her again at her sister’s wedding, they have a second chance but she’ll have to let him all the way in. And they’ll learn just how much more there is to the intense sexual chemistry they share, and whether love can carry them well past the danger of her past and into a new future, after this night…
