Wyatt Banks is ready to give one woman the world. Unfortunately, his job as a cop tends to interfere with other goals. When Wyatt is sent deep undercover to investigate a sex slave ring, he doesn’t have time to do anything but focus on staying alive in a dark and dangerous underworld.

Wyatt isn’t alone though in his quest to save the women that are being sold into sexual slavery.

His partner, FBI Agent Andrea Somerville, is immersed just as deeply as he is, and she’s the bait to lure the sex slavers out into the open, as she poses as an erotic dancer in an attempt to snare the enemy. But danger runs as high as the sparks between them, and now Wyatt is caught between the job he loves and the woman he wants.
*WITH A TWIST  can be read as a stand-alone*

Police Officer, Wyatt Banks is leaving all of his friends in the Outer Banks for an undisclosed amount of time to go undercover. So even though he wants nothing more than to find a woman to settle down with like his friends have, he has to put his life on hold in order to progress in his career.

He becomes "Raze" and  works his way into a sleazy strip club and becomes immersed in the world of illegal activities. A little general manager duties, a side of prostitution, and selling of sex slaves is all in a day's work. But this honest cop is determined to stay hidden as long as he has to in order to protect women and make the arrests.

Andrea Somerville is an FBI agent who is also going undercover to further her career. Soon she becomes  "Nikki O" and working alongside Raze as a stripper.

This newly formed team is hidden in a dangerous situation doing what they have to do in order to bring in the bad guys. But there is an underlying attraction that they both try hard to deny. However with the situation as precarious as it is, any false moves could put them both in serious danger. The first part of the book is truly a suspenseful, dark, undercover crime scenario. It is risky, tense, unstable, and truly a matter of life and death. Wyatt and Andrea take their jobs very seriously. Wyatt is determined to protect her and keep her from truly becoming the next victim of this operation. And Andrea literally does what she has to do to maintain her cover.

I have always liked Wyatt, the good guy cop, in the other books. But now we see he can  play the bad boy as well as anyone else. He can act unaffected or threatening if he needed to, but  he is also protective and possessive. He has this charisma and intensity about him, but he is also compassionate and understanding. And Andrea is quite feisty and tough herself. She is very brave and she does what she has to do to get the job done. But she is also vulnerable and has been hurt recently. But that makes her appreciate Wyatt even more.

In some ways their timing is way off, but in other ways it seems like it is meant to be. Neither of them can do it alone. They really need to be in this situation together for support,  to protect each other, and to follow it through.

But going through something like together forms a bond that neither of them truly realizes until it is over. And when the job is done, it is hard to stop thinking about the other. But distance, lack of communication, and fear pose challenges. She has recently been burned. He has never had a real serious relationship. They are both  confused and lacking closure, so one of them has to be brave enough to make a move or else just let it all fade away.

The remainder of the book is more of an exploration of their relationship outside the confines of the intense situation. Sometimes a connection formed in such a desperate set of circumstances cannot be sustained back in the normal real world environment. They are two people with demanding careers that are pretty much locked into their locations,  but they've got these unresolved feelings that are so deep and volatile that they don't know what to do with them.

Together they have some serious scorching sexual tension and chemistry that just sizzles under the surface. And when it is let out, oh holy hell, it is combustible. They also have such a fun rapport and are compatible in so many ways. They understand how much their jobs mean to them and how hard they work. But they have to explore it in a different environment in order to figure out if they really do feel that strongly or if it was exacerbated by the nature of the job they shared. They are fully entrenched in their own lives across the country from each other. And would never want to ask the other to give anything up. So it is a complicated situation.

I really enjoyed them as they tried to explore if they could fit into each other's real lives and to figure out if they were meant  to be long-term or just a passionate memory.
I love this series and how each book  has it's own unique vibe. This one was  dark, suspenseful, and gritty, but also sweet, romantic, and steamy. The whole undercover cop and FBI story line gave it a different feel and edge. I adored both Wyatt and Andrea. It was told in both of their points of view allowing us full access into both of their heads even when they were hiding out and being secretive .

This can easily be read as a stand alone, but I still highly recommend this series and getting to know the other inhabitants of the Outer Banks...Hunter, Gabby, Brody, Alyssa, Gavin, Savannah, and Casey. I enjoyed visiting with these friends that I have come to love during the previous books and seeing how their lives are progressing. This group is just so much fun. They tease, they taunt, but they are also protective, loving, and completely immersed in each other's lives. They definitely added more humor to the story.

I am looking forward to Casey's book next. This strong-willed woman is the last one standing and needs to be taken down by love. Her book will be Shaken Not Stirred.

I think each time a new Last Call book is released I declare it my favorite one yet. And once again, I think this is my favorite Last Call book yet.

Wyatt Banks has been asked to work undercover in Raleigh to bust a sex-trade operation. His friends are all “heart whipped” and settling down, his family has done the same. He has no reason not to go away for a few months, and maybe going away will help him because he can’t help but feel a tinge of jealousy at the happiness his friends have found.

Andrea Somerville has been waiting on word from the FBI about a position in the Behavioral Research and Instruction Unit, her dream job and ultimate career goal. While she’s waiting her boss asks her to go to Raleigh to help out an investigation there. She accepts, not only because she has the skills needed for this particular job, but also because it will look good on her BRIU application, bringing her one step closer to that dream.

As partners, Wyatt and Andrea play strangers, and though they are partners, they may as well be strangers. A connection develops between them as they perform their dangerous task that begins to blur the lines between the job and emotions.

Is the connection that forms undercover one that can last in the real world? One that can survive the taint of what had to happen while they were undercover?

I loved watching the way they worked together, hiding and planning while keeping their target in focus. And I also loved watching how things unfolded when they could drop their covers.

With a Twist was in some ways harsher than I remember the other Last Call books being. The situations Wyatt and Andrea find themselves while undercover are enough to challenge anyone’s sense of right and wrong, of morality, of what is real. In other ways, it is filled with the things that tie these books together: strong friendships, family, and the future.

He’s utterly alone…

Tortured and existing in a dark spiral of despair, bestselling British author, Gavin Cooke, has come to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to escape the seedy lifestyle he had been living in London and in a desperate attempt to regain his writing focus. He’s twisted, bitter and angry at the world. He’s a loner… needing not a single thing other than his Scotch and a laptop upon which he can bang out his next erotic, dark thriller.

She’s running in place and getting nowhere…

Savannah Shepherd’s life is falling apart. Her dream of being a wildlife photographer seems a distant memory and she’s barely able to make ends meet. Driving herself forward with no clear goals apparent, she’s about ready to pack up her bags and head home with her tail between her legs.

Two unlikely lovers…

He’s raw, forceful and a dirty talker. She’s a flowers and romance type of girl. Yet within each other, they find a mutual craving that can only be satisfied by giving in to their desires for one another.

Lust turns into something more… something they were not looking for but tentatively accept. Will it be enough to push them past the obstacles of Gavin’s bitter past?
