At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it’s always worked well—until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.

Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won’t be toyed with. What Leary starts, he’ll finish—in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve’s job is to ruin Leary’s case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he’s come to love.

Leary Michaels and Reeve Halloway meet on opposite sides of the courtroom and begin waging a battle of the sexes where they are not afraid to use any advantage in their arsenal to bring each other down....which leads to going down in other ways.

Leary is the perfectly polished and confident lawyer who uses her feminine wiles to make her point and get her competition right where she wants them. She is also stubborn, hot tempered, but passionate about righting wrongs and protecting those that can't protect themselves. She fundamentally believes in helping the meek, powerless, and downtrodden. She likes to be tough and play hard ball, but underneath she is sensitive and emotional.

Reeve is the sexy, in control, alpha who tends to lose control around her, but won't give up the fight to keep it and knock her off balance. He is hot...panty melting hot and likes getting the upper hand, but is also sweet and caring.  He's caught up in corporate law and big business greed that is all about making money versus the truth. He may work for greedy bastards but he's got  a heart and integrity so that puts him in a difficult situation.

They spark, they grate, they irritate, but they have serious sexual tension and feisty foreplay. They taunt, tease, goad each other and turn each other on. They walk the fine line and are veering off appropriate and ethical. They both thrive on power plays and take turns at gaining control. They are crossing the line and exploring sexy, sensual, flirty, and dirty banter. They are intrigued by each other's cunning and sex appeal, and their intense reaction to each other. Simmering foreplay turns into explosive need and passion.

Attraction, addiction, and the addition of feelings lead them into dangerous territory. Can their need to tear each other's clothes off coexist with following the needs of their clients? Once the gloves come off in the courtroom will it destroy their connection in the bedroom and with each other?

Their passion is hot, their chemistry is off the charts, but their jobs put them in impossible situations that could make them both lose. I really liked them both. But I was totally nervous about how this whole situation was going to play out.

I loved getting a little cameo by a NY friend from another Legal Affairs story. I liked their friend, Ford and truly hope we see him as the hero in an upcoming book. There was a bit of a tease about him. I am completely intrigued by her boss Midge and would like to see more of her. And her friend/client Jenna was also a notable, strong character. And who can resist a big dog named Mr. Chico Taco? Not me...

This was  a flirty, feisty, sexy, sweet, tension-filled Lawyer romance.  Sawyer Bennett knows her law and she managed to mix in enough to make it realistic but not to much to weigh down the story. It was told in both characters' points of views giving us full discovery of their feelings and fears. It was completely engaging and had depth, drama, and twists. I am looking forward to more Legal Affairs...

Leary Michaels is a take charge litigator with a fantastic record. She has worked her way to partner at Knight & Payne, having learned that she could use sex appeal as part of her legal plan as needed. Her confidence and success did not come naturally and were learned on the job.

Reeve Holloway is opposing counsel in a case that is very personal to Leary. She pulls out all the stops in order to build her client’s case and take down the big insurance company Reeve is defending.

Though they have not met before early in court proceedings, sparks fly immediately. But they have an ethical line to skirt as they explore the heat between them on a physical level. It wasn’t supposed to go beyond a physical relationship, but as time passes the physical reasons for their encounters deepen beyond the surface. Though they set out to leave the case at the door when they are together, knowing they will have to battle in the courtroom makes things tense, especially with the vastly differing missions of their respective firms.

This book had me hooked from early on. I was intrigued. The heat between them was one thing, but it was the case that really kept me coming back for more. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out what Leary’s tie to the case was, whether they could balance the ethics between them, and how far each was willing to go for his or her client.

While this was a new firm, with new characters and a new location, I could feel the foundation of the series built by Mac and Matt, and Macy and Cal. Though the connection with either of the original couples is loose and doesn’t really come into play until later in the book, the solid legal backdrop and confident, professional characters gave me enough of a tie to not miss the original characters too much.

There is a whole new set of side characters to get to know. I loved the little glimpses of Midge, the mentor behind the curtain. Her influence on Leary is clear and I loved the mystery and rumors surrounding her habits. Ford was in interesting bridge between these two and I can’t help but think he needs some happy after the things he realized watching his two friends find each other.
