REEVE IS COMING!

Meet Reeve & Emily in First Touch releasing December 29th!

When Emily Wayborn goes home to visit her mom while on hiatus from her hit TV show, she receives a voicemail from her former best friend, Amber. Though the two were once notorious party girls, they haven't spoken in years. Although the message might sound benign to anyone else, Amber uses a safe word that Emily recognizes, a word they always used to get out of sticky situations during their wild days. And what's more chilling than the voicemail: it turns out that Amber has gone missing.

Determined to track down her friend, Emily follows a chain of clues that lead her to the enigmatic billionaire Reeve Sallis, a hotelier known for his shady dealings and play boy reputation. Now, in order to find Amber, Emily must seduce Reeve to learn his secrets and discover the whereabouts of her friend. But as she finds herself more entangled with him, she finds she's drawn to Reeve for more than just his connection to Amber, despite her growing fear that he may be the enemy. When she's forced to choose where her loyalty lies, how will she decide between saving Amber and saving her heart?

This is one of those book you can't say too much about without giving too much away. It is strangely addictive, mysterious, unpredictable, and full of twists and surprises.

Emily Wayborn knows her friend Amber is in trouble after receiving a cryptic message using their safe word. Her search for answers leads her to a luxury resort owned by multi-billionaire Reeve Sallis. He's dark, aloof, intriguing, magnetic, sexy, commanding, and possibly dangerous.

Thus begins a web of Emily's deceit to find out answers. But Reeve has his own secrets too and it is hard to determine if they are nefarious or not. It is a multi-layered plot lined with lies, secrets, mysteries, foul play, suspense, and danger.

I found myself desperately trying to figure out what was really going on. I really don't know what I really feel or think about it. There were many times I did not even like the main characters. He could be so cold, intimidating, dominant, and threatening. She had her own agenda and was not afraid to use whatever means necessary to get info and enjoyed being treated poorly and demeaned. They were really flawed, egotistical, and had so many lies and secrets that it was hard to see their redeeming qualities for much of the book. I was not really a fan of the sex scenes  and sometimes they seemed to overtake the plot.
It was so tied into the lies, secrets, games, using each other, and their fake facades. It was not so much their dominant and submissive personalities, but the extent to which they were compelled to act upon them and some of the situations that I guess bothered me. Sometimes it was just too much. I get that some people get off to that, but I  just had a hard time condoning their behavior and did not find it all erotic. I know that I am in the minority here and this is just my feelings  about it as I was reading the book.

Learning about Emily's past did not endear her to me and her present fascination with mysterious Reeve and how she enjoyed being treated turned me off at times. Her own needs got all mixed up and often surpassed her need to find the truth.. But
I will admit that Reeve especially grew on me more towards the end as we got to see more under his layers. And I found myself wanting him to be innocent of any wrong doing,

With that being said, I was still morbidly curious about the mysteries surrounding him and his past girlfriends. There were layers of secrets, lies, and hidden truths. Since it was only in Emily's point of view, Reeve was more mysterious and we were trying to figure out him and his motives at the same time she was. I became more and more invested. I liked seeing some of their walls come down, And I was already prepared for a big cliffhanger and did get it. I was left pondering, re-thinking and trying to put all of the pieces together. But it is no use because there is still more info needed, There were some definite surprises and twists. It was dark, intriguing, raw, suspenseful, steamy, and at times hard to read. But it left me wanting to know the rest of the story. It is going to hard to wait til June for the next one Last Kiss.

Emily is on a mission to rescue her former best friend. Six years after they went their separate ways, Amber has left a message using their safeword -- she is in over her head. But Emily doesn’t get the message until the trail Amber left has run cold. Emily’s search leads her to Reeve Sallis, a hotelier with a dangerous reputation. She finds herself drawn to the controlling man in a way that threatens her search for Amber.

She owes it to her friend to find her and rescue her, but what does she owe her heart?

I don’t trust either character. Emily has her own motives for remaining close to Reeve. Her actions show an odd mix of strength & courage and weakness & passivity. But even Reeve is not easy to like. I still cannot decide which of his actions were purposeful. For as controlling and almost paranoid as he is, he makes some decisions and oversights that seem too convenient to be accidental.

But the overall plot, the suspense angle of the story, absolutely carried this book for me. The questions about where Amber was, what kind of danger she had found, and what happened to make her use her safeword were continually in the back of my mind. I couldn’t help but question every move made by both Reeve and Emily, and though I rarely trusted either of their motives, I couldn’t help but wonder what games are afoot that readers are still in the dark about.

I’m quite unsettled by this book -- which is the best way to describe my feelings through the entirely of this book. I still have no answers for most of my questions, especially after the massive cliffhanger at the end. But even the parts of the book that didn’t work for me couldn’t overwhelm the need to know what happened and what is going on and the wait for June and Last Kiss is on.
