Watching Tucker’s anguish about his missing family through Ryley and Evan’s eyes was one thing, but to have his narration, with Penny’s alternating, made the heartache that much clearer. This was a man who loved his family, and suddenly had no clue how to protect them, nor what they needed protecting from.
Knowing where Penny was, and eventually what had led to her midnight flight, I couldn’t help but be torn. On one hand I wanted Tucker to find her so he could have his happy, but I knew that when he did find her there would be a lot to sort through in order for him to have his happy.
Penny is a smart woman. Resourceful, suspicious, and protective, her every move over the 6 years since Tucker was declared dead have been to protect her daughter. The fear she felt only drove her father and faster and the lengths she went to were what any mother would do for her child.
There were some surprising events that I can only hope mean there will be more books in the series. Many of my questions from the end of Choose Me were answered, but I always want *everyone* on a team to find resolution and it kills me that there are still members who are hurting.

This story was less about them adjusting to the men’s return, as was the case with Here With Me and Choose Me, and more about Tucker’s search and the team’s continued attempts to clear their names and find out who is targeting them. The suspect list is long, and the mystery surrounding exactly why this team was targeted is blurry. But the action and suspense kept the story moving even when it did not appear Tucker and Penny would find each other again.
Save Me can be read as a standalone and for those who have read the first two Archer Brothers books but need a refresher, there is a great recap of the previous events so no one is left in the dark.

Having Penelope on my bike now, with her hands caressing my skin, even if she’s not meaning to, makes me realize that I like her there. I’m enjoying the way her legs are pressed against my hips and the way her fingers graze my skin so innocently.
Pulling off to one of the lookout points, I set both feet down and shut off my bike.
“Watch,” I instruct, pointing to the sky. Without hesitation, she rests her head on my shoulder and I instinctively lean into her. I like it. I like the way I’m feeling with her right now. She’s here because she wants to be, not because of who I am.
"What am I watching for?”
“Birds.”
“It’s dark, I can’t see a bird in the dark. No one can.”
Realizing my mistake, I shake my head. “Fighter jets. They’ll be coming to land in a second.”
“How do you know?”
Because I wanted to be one until I found the SEALs.
“When you live on base, you follow patterns.”
Before I can say anything else, two jets appear and align themselves for landing.
“Are you a pilot?”
“No, I’m not cool like that.”
“So what do you do?”
Kill bad people.
“I’m the guy who protects you while you sleep.”
