Navigating the world alone is all Josephine Geroux has ever known. Life altering tragedy struck early on for her. She endured an admirable struggle through her youth and learned the hard way how to adapt and survive. She managed to arrive at adulthood in one piece in spite of it all.
After such chaos, maintaining a life free of complications is a priority for her.
Everything changed when a man with amber eyes came through her door and claimed her heart. She fell hard in more ways than one. The pull between Jo and Damon seemed like fate bringing things full circle.
With another devastating loss looming, Jo fights to hold on to the very thing that brought her to her knees. She finds herself torn between a promising future and clinging to a devastating past.
But that’s not the most worrisome problem on her hands.
She must convince more than just herself to let the past stay in the past, where it belongs, but on her journey to find closure and resolution, she does the exact opposite. An old wound caused by a heinous act becomes exposed for what it is. The truth is catastrophic and Jo is helpless, watching as the ruins of her fragile world endure more turmoil.
Can something conceived from tragedy and malice end well? Can something so completely poisoned conquer adversity? Jo is left to make a decision; accept the circumstances she finds herself in or fight with unwavering ferocity to restore what has been damaged.
Painfully perfect. It makes me abundantly aware that loving him can be painful as hell, but being without him is a hellish agony.
I have to preface this review by saying that I am a big fan of Jaimi Mac, I chat with her often, and I adore her. But while reading this book I wanted to grab her by her little red head and shake her for putting me through this! Just kidding...kind of....lol. You really do have to read book one: Wreck Me before reading Restore Me or else you will be missing out on too much of the back story. And Jaimi literally did wreck me at the end of Wreck Me and left me gasping and cursing her then. And now I have waited all this time to find out Damon's fate. The beginning of Restore Me is very emotional, heart wrenching, and totally had me on edge. I did not know what to think or how it was going to turn out. There were unexpected situations that never crossed my mind when thinking about where this book would go....but Jaimi went there. Of course she went there. She found ways to rip my heart out, throw it down and step on it. She frustrated me and made me mad on a few occasions. She made me giggle especially at Gram's antics. She my heart happy in few parts and made me tear up in others. And then made me wonder and go hhhhmmmmm about some things. All of this makes for an interesting read.

Familiar hopelessness swallows me up and I let it. F*** it. There's no running from this, so I might as well not fight it. It's better to embrace the hurt than to struggle against it. I know this better than anyone. It's like being swept out to sea and having to choose between battling in vain against the current or letting it take you under. I'll let it take me under, but I damn sure hope that I surface at some point with a breath of life still in me.
I felt so bad for Jo. She has had such a hard traumatic life and just when she got a glimmer of happiness, the bottom fell out of her world. And now she is guilty, angry, frustrated, and sad. But Jo is tough and has some good support with Damon's assistant Brian, her friend Noni, and the hilarious frisky Grams. We even are introduced to some new eye candy in the form of Andy the Handy Man. I love Jo's kick ass attitude especially when she gets all empowered, determined, and starts cursing. She has a lot of challenges to face both in the present and in facing the past. We also learn more about Damon's past and what shaped him and caused his hidden emotional scars. These two people were so broken that I guess it should not have come as a surprise that they were not going to get the easy happy fairytale. Their whole lives they dealt with struggles and trauma.
I'm so f***ing tired of getting the short end of the stick. I'm pissed off that I can't be one of those lucky b**ches cruising through life with a stupid grin on my face and a pleasant little life to show for it.
There were interesting story lines, twists, secrets, questions, and little subplots going on in this book. And it leads right into the 3rd installment Accept Me. I was totally not ready for this one to end. And now I wait for more...I always seem to be bugging Jaimi to give me more!
If you loved Wreck Me then you will enjoy Restore Me. I love Jaimi's writing style and her characters. She mixes up humor, romance, heartbreak, and mystery and just captures your attention so you have to keep going. Then leaves you wanting more. She makes it so you will never think of some things the same way again...for example strawberries and zombies. Her humor and just the way she puts it all out there just makes me devour her books.
Thanks to JL Mac for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
