Mackenzie (Mack) Harper is a twenty-four year old school teacher who moves to Rose Cottage in Cape Elizabeth for the summer. She arrives with her six year old nephew, Lucas, who’s staying with her for a few weeks ¬while his parents are in Europe.

Placing storage boxes on top of the kitchen cabinets, Mack finds a diary, opening it to the first page it reads, ‘This is the diary of a Rose, dated March 4th, 1947’. Settling down to read this diary, Mack discovers a love story between Rose and a man named Jacob Evans.

Realizing that Jacob is still alive and around eighty-eight years old, Mack tries to contact him to tell him Rose’s story. She leaves a message with Jacob’s housekeeper and hopes that he returns her call.

While talking to her sister on the phone she watches a, denim and leather clad, guy dismount his Harley and move in next door. Unbeknown to Mack, he’s Jacob’s thirty-two year old grandson, Dean, who has come to Cape Elizabeth to find out why she wants to talk to his grandfather about a diary and to make sure she isn’t after his grandfather’s money.

Within an hour of actually meeting, Dean has his hands on her legs, although due to spilled coffee, he discovers he can’t stop touching her. Dean was only too glad to escape to Cape Elizabeth, away from his mother, who wants him to be married to Cynthia, her friend’s daughter, who he has no interest in.

Together Mack and Dean try to unravel the mystery of what actually happened to Rose in 1947.

Thomas Degan the owner of Rose Cottage is a loveable eighty year old man who befriends Lucas, taking him fishing and spends time with him reading ‘Our Gang’ Comics.

All these characters come together in a story of loss, love and friendship.

Excerpt:

To try and keep his libido in check, Dean took some deep breaths as he waited for Mack to climb off his bike, then he followed her into the cottage.
She dropped her jacket on to a chair at the kitchen table, then turned and perched on the edge of it, looking up to meet Dean’s eyes. She stared at him, then licked her lips and watched his eyes go from hot to blazing in seconds. “Make love to me, Dean.”
“My pleasure.” He couldn’t wait for her anymore, and dropped his jacket to the floor, ripped his t-shirt off over his head, and with a couple of strides over to Mack, his lips met hers in a very hot fiery kiss.
Mack was seeing stars, and before she could think anything else, Dean’s hands were on her butt as he pulled her into him.
She raised her arms so Dean could remove her t-shirt, then as he looked down at her bra-encased breasts, his eyes glittered. He moved his hand between them and unclipped her bra. First he pulled one cup away and placed a kiss to her rose-colored nipple, which had shivers shooting down Mack’s spine. He removed the other cup from her breast, then pulled the bra down her arms and tossed it on a chair. He bent and gave her other nipple a quick lick before he pulled away slightly to take in much needed air.
He looked down into Mack’s eyes and moved in for another taste. She tasted of chocolate and woman and he couldn’t get enough of her.
Her hands stroked up and down his back. He was so close to losing it, and needed her to stop, if he had any chance of making this good for her. Breaking away from her mouth, he kissed and nibbled along her neck, down to her collarbone, and then kissed and sucked her nipples.
“Dean,” she groaned.
Her breasts looked well loved. He pushed her back, so she was lying on the table while he unzipped her jeans and pulled them down her legs and off with her underwear. Mack was so aroused. She wrapped her legs around him and couldn’t stop rubbing herself against him. Dean wasn’t faring any better as his hips had a mind of their own, grinding against her. “You drive me totally crazy. You know that, Mack?”
She moaned. “Dean, now!” Mack grabbed hold of Dean’s arm and pulled herself up. She unzipped his jeans, pushed them down past his hips and took hold of his erection, which was throbbing and weeping in her hands.

Author Bio:

I was born in Bolton, Lancashire within the United Kingdom, where I lived, and worked at the University of Bolton. In 2010, I moved to Ireland with my husband, 4 kids and pack of animals. I can tell you it wasn't pleasant traveling in a car with 5 cats in cat boxes. Climbing back into the car after the ferry journey to Ireland was the most unpleasant thing we had to do on moving day!!

We are now settled in a lovely town, in County Cavan. The kids love their schools (once they get there that is!) and the little one loves her play-school where she goes with her imaginary friend, Katie.

My eldest daughter, is on the Irish Junior Archery Team, and spends her time training. At least she does when her dad can get her off her ipad, reading or listening to music.

After writing under a pen name for a short while, I decided to try my hand at writing in third person past tense, instead of first person. Rose is my first published book under my own name, and will not be the last, as I have a head full of ideas, plus covers for some of those ideas!

I have recently joined the book review blog, Book Addict Mumma and made a wonderful new friend in Kristy Louise Garbutt, my new boss!

My kindle is loaded with too many books to mention, and I absolutely love to read when I have the chance.
