Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?
Not always....

Evelyn goes out on the town in to celebrate her twenty first birthday in Vegas with her best friend and wakes up the next morning on the bathroom floor. As awareness dawns, She realizes she is not alone and is face to face with one gorgeous, tattooed, long haired hunk of a man. And she is now sporting a big rock on her left ring finger and bears a tattoo with the name David. Oops! Apparently, he is not only the lead guitarist in one of the hottest rock bands, but he is also now her husband. Unfortunately, she doesn't remember anything and he remembers everything about his amazing night.

“It’s not fair that I remember you and you don’t, Evelyn.”

She is thrust into David's world with all of its' fame, complexities, and fake people. That one night totally shakes up her little safe world. After a rocky start, they escape the press for a breather. And they begin to rekindle the connection from that fateful night. Slowly the events are revealed in pieces. And they have new sweet moments and seriously hot sexy ones, at least until real life encroaches into their happy little bubble.

I loved David from the very beginning. Sure he is a hot, tatted, wealthy rock star, but he does not act like one. He had such  a vulnerability to him and you could tell how much Ev affected him. She brought out all kinds of emotions in him and need for closeness, protectiveness, and to be real. I felt his disappointment that he could remember every minute, but she had no idea what they had shared. But he is not perfect. H is also jealous, stubborn, and could use some assistance with anger management. He cannot control all that is going on around them and what happened in the past. But I liked how he was down to the Earth and did not act like some pampered mega rock star. He just saw Ev and did not care about the rest. But he has major trust issues and secrets left to be revealed.

Evelyn has been the good girl her whole life. Her one walk on the wild side totally backfired and got her into this mess. Ev is not a fan girl. She is not impressed by his wealth, status, or social station. Her life is planned out and her future is set. But the slowly begins to realize that maybe plans need to change. She is also strong willed and has a temper. I liked that she was not a wall flower and was not afraid to challenge David or those around them. So sometimes they clashed, but they did well making up.

"Can you feel what we're doing here? We're building something."

Trust is hard and fighting old demons is harder. And sometimes trust is broken and promises aren't kept. And with two very different and  stubborn people it just exacerbates the situation. So they have to decide if what they have is worth fighting for or to just chalk it up to a big impulsive mistake.

"They're love songs, baby. Love isn't always smooth or straightforward. It can be messy and painful...Doesn't mean it isn't still the most incredible thing that can ever happen to you. Doesn't mean I'm not crazy about you."

There wasn't enough room in me for all the feelings he inspired. Not even close.

I rode this rollercoaster and enjoyed every bit of it. I might have mentioned...I loved David Ferris...And I really liked Ev too. And his band mates Mal, Jimmy, and Ben, her room mate Lauren, her brother Nate all rounded out a great cast of supporting characters providing humor, ass kicking, and support. I am looking forward to seeing which band member is the subject of the next book....I am hoping for wise cracking Mal who says he is not ready to settle down. He cracked me up!  I think he needs a good woman!

This book drew me in, kept me interested, and had me totally invested in this couple. Kylie Scott's writing style is engaging, entertaining, dramatic, steamy, and emotional. There was great passion and some smokin' hot scenes. There was humor, depth, and sweetness. It was nicely paced and I really enjoyed seeing the growth in the characters..

"But I married you, Evelyn, because you made sense to me. We make sense. We’re a whole lot better together than apart.”

I have to say that  for some reason I was not initially drawn in by the title or cover and I overlooked it. It  actually was not on my radar until someone else mentioned a rock star alert and I looked at the synopsis which totally sparked my interest. So definitely give Lick a try and fall in love with David and Ev and see how one crazy night really started it all..

Thanks to Kylie Scott, Pan Macmillan/Momentum, and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
