One simple lesson in seduction between two friends can turn into so much more…

Despite her outgoing demeanor, Olivia is painfully insecure around the opposite sex—usually, she can’t get up the nerve to approach guys she’s interested in. But moving to Edinburgh has given her a new start, and, after she develops a crush on a sexy postgrad, she decides it’s time to push past her fears and go after what she wants.

Nate Sawyer is a gorgeous player who never commits, but to his close friends, he’s as loyal as they come. So when Olivia turns to him with her relationship woes, he offers to instruct her in the art of flirting and to help her become more sexually confident.

The friendly education in seduction soon grows into an intense and hot romance. But then Nate’s past and commitment issues rear their ugly heads, and Olivia is left broken-hearted. When Nate realizes he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he will have to work harder than he ever has before to entice his best friend into falling back in love with him—or he may lose her forever…

We met Olivia, Jo's cousin and Nate, Cam's friend in Down London Road. She is a library assistant transplanted to Scotland from the US and he is a photojournalist/movie and video game blogger. They both hit it off and are able to embrace their inner geekdom together. They have an easy going friendship and rapport. They have a shared group of friends and their social lives revolve around them. And their friends already treat them like a couple.
Olivia is inexperienced and shy when it comes to men. Issues in her past kept her from having much of a social life growing up so her experience with the opposite sex is limited. Nate is a womanizer and does not do attachments. He was in love once but lost and has not been able to move on from that. Being the great friend he is, he offers to help her gain confidence and work on her flirting skills in order to impress a guy she has a crush on. But as they start traversing down unfamiliar territory and more extreme closeness together, their sexual chemistry heats up during these lessons. But they are both afraid of losing their close friendship and ruining it all. But lines become blurred and feelings of jealousy, guilt, lust and need infiltrate their safe little bubble.

I really liked both Nate and Olivia. She was smart, funny, sweet. and a good friend. But she was shy and insecure. Nate was hot, sexy, loyal, and nice guy. But he had demons that haunted him and made him put up walls. I will admit that I was not sure how I liked their "lessons". They had serious chemistry, but it was such a tenuous situation that was bound to explode. There were lots of mixed messages and feelings and at times it all became awkward.

For two people that communicated easily as friends, they had a horrible time sharing their real feelings. They put up these walls that really got in the way. They knew so much about the other due to their close friendship that it actually caused even more intense issues. And they had to work on themselves and see how much they would be missing if they did not find a way past the barriers that sprung up between them.

But I really liked that both of the characters showed personal growth and really challenged the other. They were such a great match together in that they loved the same activities, had the same friends, could appreciate each other's sense of humor. But they definitely had communication issues and misconceptions. At times I wanted to smack him, then her, then him again and so on. I really wish we would have been able to have Nate's point of view. I really wanted to get more into his head at times. But we were right along with the confused Olivia trying to figure out what was going on with him. This one had some emotional components, pain and loss, but it was not quite as dark and angsty as the first two books. It had a more lighthearted feel to me even with the emotional undertones.

It was good to see Joss, Braden, Ellie, Adam, Jo, Cam, Cole, Hannah and the rest of the characters from this series as we see their stories progressing. I am looking forward to Fall from India Place with more about Hannah and Marco that we have been teased with already.

Before Jamaica Lane ends at about 75 percent and then she put Until Fountain Bridge(#1.5) in the back of it which is Ellie and Adam's novella. I really enjoyed getting to see their relationship through Ellie's journal entries as she explained to Adam how much he had meant to her over the years. And his new understanding of how much he really had affected her at various stages of her life. They are such a sweet couple and I enjoyed more of their story.
