But Matt Connover’s issues run deep. I know Cal hurt him deeply, and he keeps himself protected because of that. I also sense there is something more to his pain that even I cannot comprehend.

Angry frustrated Matt who lashes out at everyone.
Drunk off his Ass Matt with fewer inhibitions.
Desperately lonely Matt who might just be finally realizing what he is missing.
Scared Shitless Matt who is not sure what he can handle.
We also many sides of Mac (again not necessarily in order)...
Destroyed Mac who has to make one of the hardest decisions of her life.
Hopeful Mac who dares to dream of more.
Pissed off Mac who wants to back slap many of the not so pleasant versions of Matt.
Bad Ass Mac that is going to stand up for herself.
Depressed and confused Mac who is not sure what to do about this whole messed up situation.
Sex kitten Mac who cannot resist the physical charms of sex machine Matt.
So much happens in this one. I ranged from swooning, smiling, frustrated, pissed off, laughing, heart broken, and happy all at various times. This has been my favorite segment so far. These characters have had so much trouble getting to a place that could possibly work for both of them. I hope that Matt is redeemable and I want to see more of the sweet guy that we see glimpses of. I am keeping the faith. Two more installments to go!

In this installment of Legal Affairs, we see more new sides of both characters than we've seen in the other volumes. Matt and Mac both take steps that we haven't seen before and the story really makes some huge strides forward. After he spends some time comforting Mac, she thinks their relationship may be taking a turn. At least until she gets home again. Mac lays down an ultimatum and sticks to her decision, causing Matt to spiral into bad moods of epic proportions.
I think I had a goofy grin pasted on my face the whole time I read Mitigation, even when the scenes weren't humorous. There was just something about the direction this volume took that made it impossible to read without that grin.
As this serial progresses I find myself settling into the format. Each time I have a new volume in my reader I get excited and giddy again and am quickly drawn back into Mac and Matt’s lives. Ad as much as I hate it when I reach the end, it has given me a chance to slow down and digest the story in a way I don’t normally do when I read. Once again, I cannot wait for the next volume to come out!

I crossed a line with my boss and there’s no taking it back.
Not that I’d want to.
You see… Matt Connover? Well, he’s something else. Strong, magnetic, sexy as hell… but yeah, he’s still my boss.
What am I doing? Why is he so irresistible to me? Maybe it’s because I finally saw a different side to him. I saw, for a brief moment, that Matt is vulnerable, possibly damaged. Is it wrong that it makes him even sexier in my opinion?

My life is in a tail-spin and I’m about ready to crash.
I’ve cut Matt Connover out of my life… well, at least out of my bedroom… but I still have to deal with him at work. I have Lorraine intent on raining hell and destruction down upon me, which at least provides a nice diversion from my miserable feelings over Matt.
About the only good thing that has happened to me lately?
Cal Carson asked me out… and I accepted.
