New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery invites you back to Fool's Gold, where a newcomer to town might finally meet the man she never knew she needed…

Angel Whittaker earned his scars the hard way, but the scars that can't be seen are the ones that haunt him the most. Since he moved to Fool's Gold, California, he's cobbled together a life for himself as a bodyguard trainer. If he's not exactly happy, at least his heart is safe.

Working with pro-football superstars taught tough-talking PR woman Taryn Crawford one thing—she can go toe to toe with any man. But then dark, dangerous former Special Ops Angel targets her for seduction…and challenges her to resist his tempting kisses.

Even in four-inch heels, Taryn never backs down. Unless, somehow, Angel can convince her that surrender might feel even better than victory.

A new Fool's Gold novel is always one of my favorite introductions to summer. Susan Mallery is back and better than ever with an all-new trio of heroes/heroines. I am practically jumping up and down with excitement. Angel is finally here; this wickedly delicious male will leave women around the world melting!

I have been waiting for his book since we met Angel in Justice's book; it has felt like forever ago. And, let me just tell you, the wait was so worth the anticipation! *Sigh* I really want an Angel of my own now. Ms. Mallery has left me with a wicked new addiction. I definitely see lots of rereads in Angel’s future. Everything about this broken and damaged man had me falling head over heels, especially the scenes with his Acorns. As a mom of three boys, there was just something about a rough and tough, scarred special ops soldier, so far out of his element, French braiding the hair of seven-year-old little girls. I promise; if you were not all about Angel before, you will be after reading this book. Angel may very well be my favorite Susan Mallery hero yet. Not sure if she will be able to top his character; however, I sure look forward to finding out soon. Bring on Sam (Before We Kiss) and Jack (Until We Touch)!

Angel and Taryn were a powerhouse couple—an enticing game of verbal word play, flirty moments, a dash of sass and a whole lot of alpha. The connection between these two was explosive. I could not help but adore them even as they left me feeling a mixture of entertained and frustrated. Fool’s Gold’s newest lovebirds make one heck of a recipe for a quick yummy read!

If you are looking for a great contemporary read with some off the charts sizzling chemistry, look no further. Taryn and Angel provide oodles of this! You will find yourself wrapped up in their “mating game.” Another Fool’s Gold hit that I highly recommend.

**FYI—these books can be read as a standalone. You can pick the books up from anywhere in the series and know exactly what is going on. The nice thing about reading the series in whole is the reoccurring characters and town history.**

Thank you, Harlequin and NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review a complimentary edition of When We Met in exchange for my honest opinion.
