Review Tour and Giveaway: Burn For Me: Lauren Blakely
She’s the one fire he can’t put out…
Jamie Lansing has had it bad for firefighter Smith Grayson for as long as they’ve been friends. Yes, he’s ridiculously charming and she might stare a little too long at his abs, but his dirty-talking, rough-around-the-edges ways aren’t for her. Plus, she knows that as a serial dater, Smith isn’t the type to settle down. But then a terrible, fantastic, mind-blowing mistake leaves her body craving more than one night.
Smith Grayson has only ever had eyes for one woman in town—his best friend Jamie. But convincing her a relationship between them will work is next to impossible with her refusing to see beyond his past. But when she asks for a week of no-strings-attached sex to get him out of her system, Smith knows this is his one chance to prove he’s not just the man she needs in her bed, but the man she needs in her life.
Note from Lauren Blakely: I will be donating 10% of all pre-order and release week sales for this book to the National Volunteer Firefighter Support Fund in honor of the amazing work firefighters do.
Smith is one hot, sexy, delicious fireman with a heart of gold. Jamie is an organized, controlled, party planning, bar manager. They are friends. They are opposites. They are not each other's usual type. But nothing can seem to stop these friends from fanning the flames of their desire.
He wants more. She is too scared and thinks it safer to try sex without strings. It is fun to see these two flirt, tease, and explore their sexual chemistry. But at times they have conflicting personal agendas.
She was supposed to fall for someone classy, who courted her with odes and stanzas, not hot bossy words as he pinned her to the wall.

"...I'm not proper, I'm not a poet, I'm not the romantic sensitive perfect guy. You like the wild side. But I'm never gonna be the kind of guy you want to take home to your parents."
Smith...now he is hot...really hot. It's not only that he is a fireman and construction worker...not even that he is totally sexy and charismatic. But under that rough around the edges exterior, he has such a good heart and honest feelings. But he is also passionate and a dirty talker. He is totally swoon worthy and every woman's fantasy.
Jamie is less sure about everything. She is the girl who likes lists, plans, control, and stability. She longs for sweet, romantic, poetic words and men she reads about in books. But she never realized how much fun dirty talk and a walk on the wild side could be. But she has trust issues, fears, and insecurities that put up shields and keep her grounded.
They have a connection, rapport, chemistry, and are very compatible physically(Oh, are they ever). But will she be willing to risk her heart on a wild card? And is Smith the kind of guy who will stick around once the physical needs are met?
This was a sweet, fun, fast, sexy novella. Just one of those that you can pick up, get sucked right in and devour in one sitting. But it still felt like it had depth, drama, and a complete story. I liked the characters, the small town setting, and their community. Their banter was fun, flirty, and full of innuendo. I totally fell for Smith. He was just one of those men that you could not help but to first want to hug because he was so sweet and supportive, and then have your way with because he was that irresistible. It was told in both Jamie and Smith's points of view which was needed in order to see their various thought processes as they were both trying to figure out what they were doing and what they really wanted.
I also liked the side characters. There of course were a couple of other hunky fireman, Becker and Travis. I also liked her sister, Diane, and her friends, Megan and Kaitlyn. Becker, who is also the brooding, bar owner especially has potential for his own story. I would like to see more of these characters in future installments of this series.

Burn For Me, Lauren Blakely’s new Brazen novella, was a great mix of chemistry, heat, hesitation, and heart.
Jamie has harbored feelings for Smith since he moved to town and they became close. They talk regularly, bowl together, and meet for drinks. But she isn’t his type, and he’s not hers. She is looking for someone stable and serious, while he is much more laid back. She relies on him for so much that she is afraid to change the relationship and risk losing him completely.
Smith is one of the town’s hot volunteer firefighters and he is the star of the town’s firefighter charity calendar. He has been interested in Jamie since he moved to town, but because she quickly friend-zoned him, he hasn’t approached her as anything more than a friend. He is as smoking hot as his job would imply.
A stolen dance in the backroom at a party made them both face the feelings they were each trying to hide and led to a secret relationship. As they learn more about each other beyond the friend-zone, Smith has his work cut out for him proving to Jamie that he can be the man she needs.
I loved the complete opposites between these two. From their personalities, to their outlooks on life, everything about them is polar opposite. But despite their differences their attraction is absolute, and completely swoon-worthy.
As short as this novella was, there were definitely times I wanted to smack Jamie (and her sister) for projecting her sister’s problems onto a relationship that hadn’t even been given a chance. Granted, if she had given it a chance right away, a big part of the book would have been cut.
Overall, this was a fun friends to lovers story. The chemistry between these two is such that it was clear from the beginning they would find a way to be together, but that road was not an easy one for either of them.
