In the third unforgettable book by New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase, Matthew Fisher—the best friend of Drew Evans from Tangled and Twisted—wants to settle down, but he’ll have to overcome the mistrust of the vividly unique Dee Dee Warren. Includes a bonus short story, Holy Frigging Matrimony!

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.

It’s a good story. But it’s not our story. Ours is a lot more colorful.
When I met Dee I knew right away that she was special. When she met me, she thought I was anything but special--I was exactly like every other guy who’d screwed her over and let her down. It took some time to convince her otherwise, but turns out I can make a convincing argument when sex is at stake.

You might know where this story’s headed. But the best part isn't where we ended up.
It’s how we got there.

This is a companion novel to Tangled but can be read as a stand alone even if you did not read Tangled or Twisted.

TAMED goes back in time to the Tangled days. But this time around, it’s not Drew dishing out the advice and opinions – it’s his best friend Matthew, who of course is dealing with Dee Dee.

She puts on the helmet, but doesn’t climb on the Ducati right away. She stands on the sidewalk, hands

on her hips, looking thoughtfully at it. “What would you say if I said I wanted to drive your motorcycle to

the party?”

“I’d say you’re shit out of luck. I don’t ride bitch.”

She knocks me upside the head—but my helmet softens the blow. “Then let me take it for a ride myself.

Just around the block.”

“I . . .don’t think so.”

She pouts.

I sigh. “Have you ever driven a motorcycle before?”

“No, but I’ve always wanted to.”

“Well, I’ve always wanted to fly, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna strap on a squirrel suit and skydive

from the god damn Empire State Building.”

She steps closer, and rubs her placating hands up my chest. “Come on, please? I’ll be really careful and

grateful. Really grateful. Like . . .deviantly, let you handcuff me to the bed, kind of grateful.”

Forget the national broadcast system—this is the test. Am I going to stick to my man-guns, keep my

pride, and protect my cherished vehicle from almost certain carnage? Or, am I going to be ruled by my

dick and swayed by the promise of kinky, have-Dee-at-my-mercy-all-night-long, sex?

No contest.

“Riding bitch, it is.”

Now we already know where Matthew and Dee ended up thanks to Tangled and Holy Frigging Matrimony, but we never really got to see how they got there. Tamed takes up back to the Tangled time period but gives us their story from Matthew's point of view. He is Drew's best friend and Dee is Kate's best friend.

It was only supposed to be a one night stand or casual fling. When Matthew Fisher met Delores aka Dee-Dee Warren that was the plan. But one night is not enough and Matthew soon realizes he "likes likes her" more than he expected. He becomes the one on the chase and intent on trying for more. But Dee is the wild card (She might as well be the Drew of this situation).  She is intelligent, strong-willed, honest, and volatile, hiding her vulnerability, insecurities, and fear of being hurt.  She likes challenges, change, and new adventures. But she is scared, resistant, and fearful at times. Matthew does his best to keep up with her and finds he wants a chance to keep her. But even Dee knows she is not the relationship type and her issues run deep.

They are fiery, compatible, and exude chemistry. She likes excitement, but also honesty, trust, and safety at the same time. They tend to get caught up in all of the chaos that is Drew and Kate and at times if affects their burgeoning relationship as it increases  her worry and reinforces her ideas that men are not trustworthy. And he just wants her and is willing to put in the work. He could be so thoughtful, sweet, and endearing, but was also hot and charismatic. But does he have the patience and stamina to deal with her deep seated trust issues?

This story filled in the gaps on Matthew and Dee and gave us a whole new perspective on their relationship. The vibe is different than Tangled.  Yeah, Matthew was also formerly a playboy, man whore like Drew, but he is not quite as arrogant, scared, and emotionally stunted. He is not the runner Drew was. He is not as over the top dramatic as Drew, but I really liked his sense of humor and big heart. I enjoyed getting into Matthew's mind and his dialogues with the audience. He is funny, cocky, but also sincere and vulnerable. I always felt like he was a good guy despite his past and sometimes questionable behavior.

It was not about being chased or even being tamed, it really just comes down to trust, honesty and acceptance. These two have their work cut out for them, but it is an interesting ride.

There is a little of Kate, Drew, Billy, Alexandra, Steven, and little precious Mackenzie from the other books in this story too. It was fun to revisit these characters and see them more in depth. It is fast-paced, humorous, romantic, and sweet. This series is quirky, romantic, and  a lot of fun and this installment is no exception. Holy Frigging Matrimony(short story) is also included in Tamed so if you have not read it, you can get more with Matthew and Dee's progression.  I am looking forward to more with Drew, Kate, and the gang in Tied (book 4) as Drew and Kate prepare for their wedding.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Our 5 star reviews

Drew Evans is a winner. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. He has loyal friends and an indulgent family. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed?

He’ll tell you he has the flu.
But we all know that’s not really true.

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. She refuses to let anything - or anyone - derail her path to success. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

Then, just when Drew is on the cusp of having everything he wants, his overblown confidence threatens to ruin it all. Will he be able untangle his feelings of lust and tenderness, frustration and fulfillment? Will he rise to the most important challenge of his life?

Can Drew Evans win at love?

Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks he knows. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

What does Drew Evans have to say next? Find out in this forty page short story, filled with his sexy charm, unique advice and hilarious one-liners.

Marriage: the final frontier. Steven went first. He was kind of our test subject. Like those monkeys that NASA sent off into space in the fifties, all the while knowing they’d never make it back.

And now another poor rocket is ready to launch.
But this isn’t just any posh New York wedding. You’ve seen my friends, you’ve met our families, you know you're in for a treat. Everyone wants their wedding to be memorable. This one’s going to be un-frigging-forgettable.

Holy Frigging Matrimony takes place about a year after Tangled’s end and is from Drew’s POV.

There are two kinds of people in the world. The ones who look first, and the ones who leap. I’ve always been more of a looker. Cautious. A planner. That changed after I met Drew Evans. He was so persistent. So sure of himself – and of me.

But not all love stories end happily ever after. Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset? Join the club. Now I have to make a choice, the most important of my life. Drew already made his –in fact, he tried to decide for the both of us. But you know that’s just not my style. So I came back to Greenville. Alone. Well, sort of alone....

What I've come to realize is that old habits die hard and sometimes you have to go back to where you began, before you can move ahead.

TWISTED picks up two years after Tangled’s end, and is told from Kate’s POV.

In the fourth sexy romance by the New York Times bestselling author of Tangled and Twisted, Drew and Kate can’t wait to tie the knot—if they can survive the pre-wedding festivities.

For most of my life, I never imagined I’d get married. But Kate did the impossible: she changed me. I think we can all agree I was pretty frigging awesome before, but now I’m even better.

The road to this day wasn’t all rainbows and boners. There were mistakes and misunderstandings worthy of a Greek tragedy. But Kate and I made it through with our inexhaustible lust, boundless admiration, and everlasting love for one another intact.

That being said, there were some unexpected incidents in Vegas last weekend that could have been a problem. It was kind of…my final test.

I know what you’re thinking—what the hell did you do this time? Relax. Let’s not judge, or call for my castration, until you’ve heard the whole story.

And hold on tight, because you’re in for a wild ride. Did you expect anything less?
