It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – with eight stories featuring your most beloved characters and their families – it’s time to get comfy with a cup of hot cocoa and take a sneak peek at the holidays, Assassins’ style.
Join Lucas and Fallon along Tate and Audrey as they await life-changing gifts; Erik and Piper, and Phillip and Reece who have decisions to make that could lead to exciting developments ahead in their lives; and Claire as she makes a Christmas wish and choices for her future. Spend Christmas morning with the Adler family and see what the New Year has in store for Karson and Lacey, as well as Kacey King. The King family faces significant changes and resolutions that will leave readers alternately cheering and maybe a little heavy-hearted…all wrapped up in a big bow.
Join in on the holiday cheer and see who’s been naughty or nice in New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Toni Aleo’s novella – A Very Merry Hockey Holiday.
Toni Aleo and Nashville Assassins fans will enjoy this sweet Holiday novella featuring all of our fave couples: Lucas and Fallon, Tate and Audrey, Erik and Piper, Jakob and Harper, Phillip and Reese, Shea and Ellie, Karsen and Lacey, and Jude and Claire from the Bellevue Bullies spin off series. We even get a bit more with Kacey King who is Karsen's sister, and her "anti-relationship" with JT that was teased in Laces and Lace and will be featured more in the next book Overtime.
We catch up with all of them around the holidays and see their crazy lives, joy, stress, and worries. There are blessings, babies, pregnancies, wedding plans, kids, happy couples, reunions, vacations, and life changes. This is such a tightly woven group of friends and family that support each other in good times and bad times. But also love to tease and taunt each other as well. There is the humor, romance, and camaraderie that we love with these Assassins players and their significant others. And it is fun seeing them now as stronger couples and growing families.

But I personally don't recommend reading this unless you are familiar with the Assassins books because they are more like little fun epilogues for each couple showing a window into their lives during the holidays that reference back to their individual books. But it was a perfect sweet, quick holiday read to catch up with all of our favorites, tease us a bit with future stories and events, and it left me with a smile on my face.

For fans of the series, this is a fun look at each of the established couples at Christmas, and a small glimpse into the setup for the next full novel. Each couple has a short series of scenes that update readers to their current situations without adding unnecessary drama to these established couples.
Each of these glimpses were full of sweetness. As each couple’s next steps are explored and they prepare for and celebrate Christmas with their families, the happily ever after that Lucas and Fallon, Audrey and Tate, Piper and Erik, Reese and Phillip, Claire and Jude, Shea and Ellie, Karson and Lacey all worked for in their own books is reinforced, reimagined, and renewed.
But that last one? That last story did not have the sweet happiness from the rest of the story. But I love the hints it gives to Overtime (coming Spring 2015).
This is a great holiday short story for established fans of the series. But if you haven't read previous books in the series, there isn't a whole lot of traditional conflict, nor is there much characterization, since these are established character dynamics. It does a great job, though, of teasing the next book in the Assassin's series and giving a glimpse at where Kacey's head is going to be at the opening of her book.

When not rooting for her beloved Nashville Predators, she’s probably going to her husband’s and son’s hockey games and her daughter’s dance competitions, taking pictures, scrapbooking, or reading the latest romance novel.
She lives in the Nashville area with her husband, two children, and a bulldog. Read more about Toni here.
