A gorgeous bounty hunter. A wanted woman. A passion they can’t deny.

Accused of a horrific crime and on the run, Kat has been rejected by everyone she loves. She’s a fugitive from her past, flitting from town to town with nothing but the clothes on her back—until she meets a man who literally stops her in her tracks.

A notorious bounty hunter with powerful instincts, he never fails to capture his prey. But there’s something about Kat that gets under his skin–and it’s not just the naked innocence he sees in her pretty eyes. Behind his ice cold demeanor, he has his own darkness... and now his lively, vulnerable mark is about to crack him wide open.

As they travel across the country together, both captor and captive are unable to deny the spark of attraction between them. Will their journey bring them together…or will their dangerous secrets tear them apart?

Katherine Percle's life has completely unraveled and now she is a wanted woman on the run. After a chase, she is eventually caught by our nameless, serious bounty hunter. Soon they are on a trek back to Texas alone trying to fill the time and dodge another person in pursuit.

Their interactions are humorous and entertaining. Kat's feisty, sarcastic, and resourceful. Her quirky sense of humor and constant eighties references made me smile. He's alpha, asshole-ish, tough, and no nonsense. He tries to be cool, aloof and unaffected, but she gets under his skin like no one ever has before. The more he is around her, the more conflicted he becomes. They've both got secrets. He's a loner and very few people really know him, and he wants to keep it that way. They seem like complete opposites, but deep down they share some similarities that bond them in an unexpected way and on some levels help them understand the other.

There is sexual tension, fear, avoidance and fight or flight mixed in with a bit of murder and mayhem. It is hard to tell who to trust and if he is a more dangerous option or safer one. But all along their attraction is building as they get  more deeper into their complicated situation.

This romantic suspense story had me thoroughly engaged throughout. It was dangerous and suspenseful with a big dose of humor, chemistry, and passion.  I loved the characters and I enjoyed both of their points of view. There was mystery that built from the beginning and there were plot twists and surprises.  It was fun to see Kat slowly creating holes in his armor and seeing more of a sense of humor and personality emerge. He had many layers to him and really needed saving just as much as she did. Their pasts and issues were slowly divulged as the story went on.  And just when they would get through one hurdle, it seemed like another issue popped up. It was a wild ride full of lust, longing, secrets, and revelations. I loved watching these two during their adventures and how they affected each other and I kept hoping there was some way for it to work out positively.

Katherine Percle is running from the law. Hitchhiking and bumming rides up the west coast, she is finally caught by a bounty hunter to be returned to face trial. Though her bounty hunter remains nameless, she slowly chips away some of his mystery and finds herself attracted to him, even as she hates that he is returning her to what will likely lead to life in prison, at best.

But what happens when their travel back is disrupted by someone else out to get Katherine? And who is her captor?

Alternating his and hers points of view, the tension remained high and motives, pasts, and what each knew were gradually revealed. Especially as he remains nameless for much of the book, his thoughts and perspective are necessary for reader to connect with his otherwise closed off person.

Kat is spunky and full of wit and sass. For the serious situation she finds herself, she takes her plight fairly lightly for the most part, though that doesn’t mean she makes it easy on her bounty hunter.

Her captor is the best of the best and has the ego and attitude to match the title. He’s bossy, an alpha, and used to doing what needs doing to get the job done. I found myself continually hoping for the best when it came to him, and loved finding out what was behind his hard exterior.

Held Against You has great twists and turns. It was a quick read that kept me engrossed from start to finish. I was continually surprised by the revelations and the suspense made this hard to put down. The characters had great chemistry, great back stories, and though quite a bit of the story took place from inside a car, there was action and sparks flying the whole time.
