He wants the world and the admiration of everyone in it.
Sean Taiden, the inconspicuous drummer of Reckless Beat, is sick of living in the shadows of his bandmates’ success. He’ll do anything to gain the recognition he deserves. Even if it means dancing in a music video to the Reckless track that drives a knife into his broken heart whenever he hears it. The saving grace is the tempting choreographer who may be the one person able to distract him from the agony his life has become.

All she wants is the peace that comes with solitude.
Melody Jenkins knows all about fame. She knows enough to determine she doesn’t want a part of it anymore. After quitting her professional dance career, she set up a quiet studio and focused on starting a new beginning away from prying eyes. Until a sexy drummer strides into her life, making her crave something she can’t have while also pushing her to expose secrets she can’t bear to reveal.

Conflicting aspirations and one inextinguishable passion.
She needs to hide from the world she once owned. He wants to rise to the top, proving to himself and his friends that he’s always been the heartbeat of the band. Caught between what they need and what they want, Melody and Sean have to decide which is more important—their individual plans for the future or their feelings for one another.

Sean Taiden, the drummer for Reckless Beat,  is in a a bad place.  He's feeling left out, shoved in the background, and struggling with feelings for his best friend's fiancee.

He was sick of pity. Sick of rejection and sulking in someone else's shadows. Moving on was his only option.

But when he is introduced to Melody Jenkins, his new dance instructor for Reckless Beat's next music video, the red headed pixie offers him a much needed distraction from his current issues. But Melody is also having a hard time after her whole word collapsed. After some serious life changes, she hides her pain under a facade and doesn't let anyone see it. Both have baggage but are afraid to reveal it.

But they have an attraction and spark sizzling under the surface waiting to ignite. They have a flirty rapport and tease each other. But they are drawn to each other and challenge each other.

"Are you always so nauseatingly flirty?"
"Are you always this reluctant to have a good time?"

"Such a stubborn little pixie."
"Such a pushy thug of a man."

They fit together well in so many ways--they share passion and compatibility. But they both have secrets and insecurities that hold them back and put up barriers. She especially can't really believe in herself so she finds it hard that Sean would still want her when her secrets are exposed. She just wants to hide away from the limelight and be behind the scenes. Sean has been seeking more of the spotlight and fan adoration. So their professional lives and futures seem to be going in different directions.

I have always liked Sean. He had always lived in the shadows of the other guys. He was trying so hard to find something to make him feel better that he veered off in directions that weren't good for any of them. But Melanie made him realize what he had been missing and looking for. She could handle his bossy, dominant, rougher side, but could appreciate his softer, cuddly side as well.

This woman not only had the ability to distract him from his thoughts, but also the qualities to bring him to his knees.

But her deep fears, insecurities, lack of trust and confidence made her keep putting up walls between them. It got frustrating at times seeing her put herself down and her lack of self worth. This was also a journey for her to find herself, confidence, and believe in others.

She'd been reborn from a confident, in-your-face diva, to a frail and pathetic excuse for a woman. It wasn't an easy transition.

They were both stubborn, strong-willed, unsure of how to be in a relationship, and afraid of baring their darkest secrets and fears and the risk of rejection. But at the same time, they had the potential to be just what the other needed if they gave it a chance.

She was caught between wanting something she couldn't have, and having something she couldn't want. The more time they spent together, the more she ached for it to continue. It was the height of cruelty, slowly pulling her toward a temptation she had to resist.

Once all of their baggage is exposed will they find the courage to come together or will one runaway?

I was easily sucked back into the Reckless Beat world and with these characters I have come to care about. This was told in dual point of view that was very important since they kept so much hidden from each other and had such fears. It was humorous, heartbreaking, passionate, and inspirational. They both had past pain and issues to deal with on their own and that needed to be exposed and dealt with together before there could ever be a chance at something more.

This one was predominantly about Sean figuring his life out, but the rest of the Reckless Beat guys are back: Mason, Mitchell, Blake, and Ryan, as well as the girls Sidney, Alana, Gabi, and Leah are all present at times. I recommend at least reading Undesired Lust before reading this one because it gives you more history  about Sean, Mason, and Sidney. Mason and Sidney's relationship was still something that Sean was still coming to terms with and they were all affected by what they went through. Ryan was dealing with his own issues in his marriage and their manager Leah has the task of keeping it all running smoothly but even she has a breaking point. I am looking forward to more with Ryan and Leah  as this series continues.

I was gifted with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
