From the world of Carolina Bad Boys! Hunter Sexton is too hot to handle . . .

Hunter:

My call-sign is GHOST. My roadname, too. I keep my head down, stay off the grid, fly under the radar. I’m the rough, gruff, good guy who does bad things for pay.

JB is my most recent mistake. The MC babe is innocence wrapped up in a rockin’ body. Don’t get me wrong, she has a wicked side, too. She’s kickass in bed, when we make it that far. But she’s the ultimate wholesome good girl, and I don’t want to dirty her up.

Hey, no one said life was all fun and games, right?

JB:

Good girl? I prefer to think of myself as a rebellious hellion. I live my life like I ride my bike: carefree, in your face, and full throttle. My soft side? Well, that’s reserved for my job.

I’m not looking for love, and I certainly don’t need any relationship complications. Too bad complicated is the only way Hunter comes.

He’s a quiet, deadly storm. He prowls. He hunts me. He wants me. He’s sexy, sinful . . . secretive. Hunter will turn my life inside out no thanks to his dangerous past about to come back and bite us both in the ass.

Who’s gonna save us now?

Warning: Graphic sex, graphic action, graphic language. Triple X caution.

An hour later, I slid onto my motorcycle. Helmet in hand, I ramped the Deus Grievous Angel to life.
JB materialized next to me, huddling inside her padded leather jacket. “Sorry about before. Rayce has issues.”
“And where’s your bodyguard now?”
“I don’t need one.” She unfolded her arms, and her jacket gaped open at her chest. She took my helmet from my hands and slung it onto the handlebar.
“Beg to differ.” She definitely needed protection from me.
JB made the first move, I’d testify to that shit in court. She leaned over me and licked her lips. Then my hands were in her hair, burrowing deeper, and I dragged her to my mouth. She straddled me when I lifted her onto my lap. The moist touch of her tongue parted my lips.
I groaned, opening up to her talented lunges, following the sleek kisses into her mouth where our tongues collided. I wanted to thrust down her throat with my cock. Rip her pants apart and fuck her until she screamed. Take her on my motorcycle and spray my come all over her body. The intensity of my reaction steered all coherent thought from my head.
The soul-searing kiss lit me up inside. I wanted more.
Bad move. One of my worst. I’d regret it later. Right now I’d savor the way JB moaned, riding my thigh, getting off on me.
I wanted to have this for one more minute.
I wanted her.
I couldn’t have her. I shouldn’t stain her. My soul wasn’t even intact.
With a growl, I pushed her off me. I steadied her with a hand on her hip as she found her footing.
“What’s your problem?” JB frowned, her lips swollen from my kisses.
“I can’t. Not with you. Not like this.” I wouldn’t meet her eyes.
“Damn right you can’t. I’m too good for you.” She zipped her jacket all the way to the chin.
Nothing hotter than a woman with an attitude who knew what she wanted, but I couldn’t take advantage.
“Exactly.” I throttled my raging black bike, shouting over the roar of pipes, “We agree. Never gonna happen.”
Peeling out of the parking lot, I glanced back one last time. Big mistake. JB stood under the halo of a streetlight with one stiff middle finger raised in my direction. And I wanted her even more.
Not gonna happen.

Only one good thing had come out of my life, and I had nothing left to give.
We met Hunter in Steele Into Your Heart, but there is a definite air of mystery around him. His job and past are full of secrets and danger, but he is trying to put that part of his life behind him and make his life into something he can share with his son.

JB, nicknamed Jailbait, is a new face around Retribution MC. She knows what she wants, and goes after it. But she also has another side, a sweeter side, and the two sides of her life don’t mix if she can help it.

I loved that these two both held secrets about themselves. It made sense, as they hooked up as a one time only deal, but watching the impending collision of their worlds outside the club had me turning the pages as fast as I could.

This book started out with great character building. I was intrigued by the characters secrets, how those secrets would be revealed, and how fallout would affect the individuals. But I had the same challenge with this book that I have had with some of Rie’s other books. For reasons I can’t quite put my finger on, the sex scenes just don’t work for me. But skimming over those scenes, I was still able enjoy the rest of the storyline.

There were also a few moments where I had a hard time getting lost in the fiction of the story. I finished parts thinking there is no way that could happen they way it was written.

But despite those couple of hangups, these two were fun to read. I enjoyed most of the story and couldn’t help racing through to the end. As the beginning of a spin-off series, there is a good mix of new characters and familiar faces. Readers of Rie’s other books will be familiar with most of the men in this series, and I am excited to meet the women who will change their lives.

We met Hunter Sexton in Steele, Into Your Heart as he was working undercover in the Presidents of Retribution MC club. He is secretive about his past. He is a ghost. He is a Gun for hire. But now he is trying to put down roots, go legit, and avoid the darker side of life  he has been entrenched in. He wants to be able to spend time with his young son.

When he spies a new biker chick named JB at the bar, she knocks him on his ass and continues to do so. They have chemistry and are hot together, but he keeps trying to push her away...for some good reasons. There are some definite conflicts of interest. His past is always a threat. And he wants to keep those he cares about our of harm's way. But at the same time, he finds it hard to resist her.

He is a dirty talking, sexy, alpha male with an edge of danger. His past is dark and it haunts him. But he is also vulnerable due to his attachments.

JB has a sweet side, but is also sassy, feisty, and tough. She's a  mix of naughty and nice. She challenges him and at the same time compliments him well.

With his luck it is only a matter of time until all hell breaks loose. When he is the target, can he keep his loved ones safe?

This is a spin off form the Carolina Bad Boys series so some characters from that series were either mentioned and Brodie and Boomer Steele were featured along with some other MCers we previously met.

This had a different feel than the Carolina series. It is not really humorous or quirky like those. It is told in Hunter's unfiltered point of view that is rough and crass, and it is darker and has some suspense. I have to admit that I had some issues and a bit of a disconnect with it, but it is hard to put my finger on why. Maybe his voice. Maybe some of  the plot issues or character interactions. At some times their sex scenes turned me off more than they turned me on. But there were some sweet moments especially with his son and the fact Hunter made a real connection and never thought he would. It was not solely about the MC club but also dealt with his past in black ops. But as the next three books unfold I imagine we will get more invested in the club and this one also set up Boomer's book Chrome: With a Heart Forged in Steele.
