Michael Sloan is all of the above, with a hard tough edge to boot. He's not the guy he used to be. Years ago, before all the s&%t went down, he was laidback, carefree, and even happy-go-lucky.
Life changed him. Hardened him.
There's one woman though who can break down his walls. Someone who knew him then. Who can reach inside to that heart he protects fiercely...because she's the only one he ever gave it to. When they collide, it's tender and savage, gentle and rough, and makes them both hungry for more of this electric, once-in-a-blue moon kind of sexual chemistry. But it's a battle of wills between Michael and the woman he loves, with words and emotions held close to the vest.
She doesn't believe she can ever move on from her own heartache, but when Michael makes her feel for the first time in years, it's both thrilling and scares the hell out of her, setting off all her flight instincts. He's determined not to lose her again, but he'll have to learn to let her in if he ever wants to fully heal from the past...
The problem is, she knows something about the night his family shattered. She has the missing puzzle piece...but neither one of them realizes it.
YET.
SINFUL LOVE is the fourth and final book in the steamy, sexy, suspenseful New York Times Bestselling Sinful Nights series from Lauren Blakely, author of the wildly popular Seductive Nights series...
I have been waiting so long for Michael Sloan's book and the conclusion to the Sinful Nights series, and this one did not disappoint!
Michael Sloan is now coming face to face with Annalise Delacroix his "What if?" girl. She was his "one that got away" and who he unconsciously measures all other women by. They were young and had many teenage dreams, but lost them all when their lives went different directions. And soon after his life took an even harder turn due to a family tragedy. Now eighteen years after their young love affair initially began, they have a chance to meet again.
There is such an intense chemistry and true connection between these two tempered with so much regret and both fond and heartbreaking memories. They are each other's ghost from the past. But the affinity, sparks, and interest come roaring back quickly.
They both have issues and challenges, some of them are the same that broke them apart in the first place. They have both changed over the years due to circumstances. Annalise has suffered loss and has been virtually dormant the last couple of years. She is trying to find a way to live again and move on, but she feels guilt at the thought of doing so.

Michael has been emotionally unavailable, but was not really sure why until seeing her again. He is caring, vulnerable, protective, and at times insecure. But he is also afraid of getting attached again and getting hurt, so his heart has been guarded. But the passionate pull is hard to resist, and they both think they can finally give into temptation, have all of each other, and be able to move on without further regret.
As adults, they are more intense, needy, and desperate to come together. Michael brings out her hidden wild side with his hot, alpha, naughty ways. They both had walls up, but now they are breaking down and unlocking their feelings, passion, and fears. But there are built in complications around their lives that would have to be addressed in order to move forward.

They both had walls up, but now they are breaking down and unlocking their feelings, passion, and fears. But there are built in complications around their lives that would have to be addressed in order to move forward.
Their pasts, their life experiences, their personal challenges, and distance all affected their ability to believe in a future together and hope to hold onto it. They both also had so much healing to do and fears to overcome.
Are the fates that tore them apart now on their side? Or are they destined to end up hurt and alone again?
There is a lot to this story that is heartfelt, sweet, renewing, and romantic. It is also scorching hot and steamy. Sweet, sensitive Michael is also a dirty-talking beast in the bedroom(or any other location that strikes their fancy). And it is also thought-provoking, intriguing, and suspenseful as they peel back the last layers of the mystery of his father's murder. Finally all of the answers are gradually revealed and the big picture comes into focus.
This installment is about facing the past, living life in the present, and the healing power of love. They have an unforgettable bond that traversed time, distance and heartbreak. The romantic portion was an emotional, tender, sexy, and a heartwarming second-chance love story. But it was also a mystery and suspense tale that finally brought all of the pieces of the puzzle together. It was full of twists and surprises. It was told in many points of view giving us access to many character's motivationz and feelings. We got to see the present, but also flashes into the past. It kept me guessing and trying to figure out how it would all come together and it kept me completely enthralled and emotionally invested.
I loved getting more with all of the series regulars: Brent and Shannon, Ryan and Sophie, Colin and Elle, Marcus, Mindy, and John. They have all played a part in solving the mystery and have provided much needed support and guidance for each other. And I get all excited when Lauren throws in some little character crossovers. This series gave us beautiful, fun, sexy love stories while building on a tragic family past and mystery that needed to be unraveled. All along we have gathered information about the case and I love that we finally get the chance to see resolution. I was even surprised at some of the details.

I have adored all of the couples, but I have to say that Michael and Annalise have become my fave of this series. I really enjoyed both of their personalities, passion, and their relationship built on both fondness from the past and an intense bond in the present. Michael Sloan was a swoon-worthy, hot alpha hero with just enough heart, tenderness, loyalty, and protectiveness to make him completely lovable and charismatic. And Annalise was a wonderful match for him both in his past and present. This is coming from a fan who always wanted to see Michael coupled with Mindy (and made that quite clear to Lauren during the plotting stage), so the fact that she won me over is saying something.
I was so thrilled to get a full epilogue. I will miss these characters, but if anyone deserves happiness, it is the Paige-Prince (Sloan) siblings. This was an epic romantic journey and a satisfying conclusion to the mystery embedded in this quartet. It was everything I hoped it would be and more.

Michael Sloan is the oldest Sloan brother and has always watched over his younger siblings in the absence of their father. He is haunted by the loss of their father, particularly because he was so close to the man and looked to him for guidance and knowledge.
Annalise Delacroix was Michael’s first love. When she returned to her home in France, they were determined to make it work despite the distance between them. But they were young, and circumstance found them slipping apart. But he never forgot her. The women he dated claimed he was stuck in the past and could never love them. He couldn’t figure out what they meant until Annalise came back into his life.
When these two cross paths again, so much has changed for each of them. I loved watching as they navigated the present while remembering the past. Those years they were together, and the ones they were apart.
Michael is such a protector that his personality has changed drastically since he was in high school. After his father's death, he felt the need to step in and take his dad's place in his siblings lives. Doing so gave his siblings the stability they needed, but left him closed off and more serious than he had ever been before. I loved both his dedication to his siblings and the way he began to loosen up when Annalise returned to his life.
These two are a natural fit and their chemistry picked up right where it left off all those years before, only projected as adults rather than the teenagers they had been. Though they had known each other as teenagers and felt like they already knew each other, there was a lot to learn about each other as adults. The change in their status is clear when they pick up their relationship once again. Things they remembered did not always translate to their present situation and feelings. I loved watching them navigate their pasts, the what if moments, and the possibilities in the present.
This final Sloan family story is the perfect cap for the series. Not only does Michael have his story, but the final pieces of the puzzle this family has been grieving for 18 years are finally put together. The picture that is left when all the pieces fit is a twisted, amazingly crafted drama that I knew would be waiting at the end of the series. The full epilogue at the end gives readers a good feeling about the direction this family will head in the future beyond the series.

A rush of heat flooded him at those three words. He wanted to be the only one for her, even if he was only able to have her for a small moment in time. He would take what he could get, and he would savor it. She was here right now, with him and no one else.
“You have no idea how glad I am that I’m the one you thought of, Annalise,” he whispered.
A smile tugged at her lips.
Then, he went for it. Just fucking let it all out. A hope, a wish, a what if question. “Do you ever wonder what would have happened that day if you weren’t engaged? If you’d never have met him?”
She shook her head. “No. I don’t think about it. I don’t have to wonder,” she said, her tone steady and certain as she looked straight at him, the rest of the restaurant fading into a blur. “Because I know what would have happened.”
His hands shook and his heart stuttered as he rasped out, “What would have happened?”
She leaned in closer, placing a hand on his cheek. “I’d have stolen you. Taken you away from the army. Brought you home with me to Paris. Kept you all for myself for all the years and made up for lost time,” she said, and his heart beat furiously, slamming against his chest, loving those words.
“Stop saying those things,” he whispered, shaking his head.
“What things?”
“Things that make this harder for me.”
“Why is it hard for you?”
He drew a breath. “Because you say things like that and it makes me want to steal you away. Maybe this is my only chance.”
“What if it is?”
That was the question, wasn’t it? What if this night, this trip, these hours were all they’d have? He didn’t know if he could risk putting any more of his heart on the line for her. One thing was certain—his original notion that one touch and she’d be out of his system was well and truly gone. “Then we make the most of it.”
