Gabi and Lex hate each other, but Lex can get through two weeks of training Gabi to take on male clients for Wingman, Inc, can’t he? But what he won’t let himself admit is that his “hate” for her really covers the feelings he has for his best friends “little sister.” Gabi and Ian may not be related by blood, but Ian’s feelings towards his lifelong friend are as tight as siblings and that’s a line Lex has sworn to never cross.

The heat between these two is explosive. That they each hide their feelings behind hatred says a lot about a) Lex’s feelings towards his best friend, and b) Gabi’s hurt at Lex’s first brush-off. This is not a story that happens on a quick timeline, no. Gabi and Lex’s first chance was long before the present day action begins, though each remembers that night with a slightly different perspective. I loved watching them try to work together and ignore the fire between them.

But as things progress between them, their need to keep secrets from Ian only increases, and Gabi is keeping secrets of her own. She needs this job at Wingman, Inc, but doesn’t dare tell anyone around her what is going on in her life. She is fiercely independent, sassy, and sweet. Though her innocence holds her apart from Lex’s vast experience, she knows what she wants and that hasn’t changed.

Lex is a great mix of geek, jerk, and alpha, which pairs nicely with Gabi’s fire and innocence. While there were times his confidence and swagger were over the top and grated on me, he eventually grew on me to the point where I could see his appeal to Gabi and was rooting for them to figure things out.

This was a fun, feisty read with a lot of banter, secrets, and humor. Once again, Rachel has entertained, challenged, and created a rich world that took me away from reality for a time. I loved seeing Ian and Blake in their world, happy and a little clueless as to what others around them are up to.
