Fate. Hate. Love. Lies.

Which four letter word will change their lives forever?

Sydney Paige was never so mortified to hear the words "wrong number" in her life. She meant to tell off the guy who broke her best friend's heart, but unleashed her anger on a perfect stranger instead. And now her world is turned upside down by the captivating man who wants to keep her on the line.

Brian Savage is living a life he's quickly come to hate-until Sydney's wild rant has him hooked and hungry for more. Soon the sexy woman on the phone becomes the lover in his bed. But Brian has secrets, and the closer he lets Syd get, the harder it is to shield her from the devastating mistakes of his past . . .
A wrong number and angry phone call leads to an unexpected phone pals scenario.

Brian Savage could use a distraction from his life. He's had rough few months. He's suffering from guilt and regret and he is working hard to try to make things right. But in the process he is spiraling down into other soul-sucking choices. He is a bit of enigma as we gradually learn about previous events. He is all alpha, no-nonsense, and unfiltered, but also caring, empathetic, and loyal.

Sydney Paige has got her own issues. She is newly separated and trying to start a new life. In trying to stand up for her best friend, she makes the call that changes both of their lives and gives each other something positive to focus on. Their calls and texts bring laughter, flirting, a connection, and feelings. They drive each other wild and are hooked without even meeting. But Brian is holding back taking it further due to fear of her finding out his secrets and losing what they have.

The tension keeps building and when their paths finally do cross, they are combustible. Everything on the phone translates to their real lives. It is that honeymoon period where everything is perfectly happy and better than expected.

Brian is hot, sweet, selfless, and thoughtful. He just wants his girl, but he's still got guilt, secrets and serious decisions to make. But he lives with  that underlying fear and doubt that his past might sneak up on him. Syd is finally finding herself again and is happy. She is realizing that she was stagnant and not really engaged in her old life, but now her fire and sass are returning. Things seem to be crazy, but good. They are finding ways to heal each other and grow.

This was a unique story due to some of the plot elements and back stories. Even their initial contact and falling in "like"  period was cute and different. From the beginning they were full speed ahead. Lots of four letter words are appropriate: like, lust, heat, feel, love, wild, free, heal, fate, and f*ck for sure. But secrets do not always stay buried and Sydney is a girl who has already been burned. So some other words like risk, tell, lies, fear, loss, rage, dark, hate, and pain come into play.

Can Brian protect her from his past or will the secrets destroy them and their newfound happiness?

I liked it and enjoyed getting dual points of view. It was fast-paced, steamy, humorous, sweet, and even emotional. I have to admit that I got a little tired of the crass language, dirty talk, and sex scenes. I was not a big fan of one of the big plot elements and it turned me off a bit in the beginning. But I did like them together. They both had good hearts and their connection and chemistry was intense. I was rooting for them to get past all of their baggage and find a way to make it work.

Her bestie, Tori, and his best friend, Jamie, have serious sexual tension, frustration, anger and avoidance going on. They will be the subject of the next book, Hit the Spot. And Jamie has a long way to go towards redemption. However, sweet Shay and loner Stitch, and moody restaurant owner, Nate have already piqued my interest as well.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Is this love or just a game?

Tori Rivera thinks Jamie McCade is rude, arrogant, and worst of all . . . the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on. His reputation as a player is almost as legendary as his surfing skills. No matter how her body heats up when he’s around, she’s determined not to be another meaningless hookup.

Jamie McCade always gets what he wants. The sickest wave. The hottest women. And Tori, with her long legs and smart mouth, is definitely the hottest one. He knows Tori wants him—hell, most women do—but she won’t admit it. After months of chasing and one unforgettable kiss, it’s time for Jamie to raise the stakes.

Jamie promises that soon Tori won’t just want him in her bed, she’ll be begging for it—and he might be right. Somehow he’s found the spot in her heart that makes her open up like never before. But with all she knows about his past, can she really trust what’s happening between them? Is Jamie playing for keeps or just playing to win?

This book can be read as a stand-alone.
