Smith is charming, intelligent, successful, and sexy. He is struggling a bit with his own attraction to the woman who used to feel like a little sister to him, but now is becoming more and more appealing. And the incident just makes it worse. He does not want to upset his best friend or make things more awkward with Evie since they are spending time together in close quarters.
Evie knows she wants more, but finds it hard to believe Smith would ever be on the same page. So she was mentally prepared tor casual sex followed by heartbreak. And she is also well aware that her brother would not approve. Smith has generally been a casual relationship guy because he is afraid of women getting too close to hurt him. and he has difficulty trusting and hoping for more.
She wants him. He wants her too. But he has a strong sense of loyalty to her brother. But once Evie realizes there might be a chance, all bets are off. Friend-zone failure, stolen moments, scorching interludes, and general enjoyment of each other's company leads to them sneaking around and keeping secrets from big brother.
They were actually sweet, fun, and passionate together. I loved when Smith's vulnerability and her trying to be more bold. They could also drive each other absolutely crazy with sexual tension and mixed signals. But they could also bring out the best in each other. But their lives are all entwined and they will have to be careful not to ruin friendships and business dealings.
This was a fast-paced, sweet, sexy, best-friend's-little-sister-off-limits story. It was fun, flirty, and light, but one of those easy reads that just leaves you smiling. It was told in dual points of view and is a complete stand alone. None of the characters in this one are related to the first book, The Room Mate. The stories are tied together in the forbidden love them.

She has always been nearby, almost as much his friend as her brother is, but now he finds himself wanting more, wanting everything.
Their chemistry was great, as was the history they shared from their childhood. Their new venture working together was unexpected in its timing, but the perfect challenge to force them to face the feelings that had been growing.
At times this was frustrating at the way both Smith and Evie treated the relationship in relation to her brother. They want to keep things secret from him, but given their work circumstances, that is easier said than done.

This was a quick, fun standalone read. Evie and Smith have an easy way about them that kept things relatively drama free even as they battled with what her brother would think. They were fun characters with good backstories, which made for an entertaining weekend read.
