ARC Review: Ghosted by JM Darhower

He's a troubled young actor, Hollywood's newest heartthrob, struggling with fame as the star of the latest superhero franchise. Through scandal after scandal, addiction on top of addiction, a flurry of paparazzi hunt him as he fights to conquer his demons.

She's a single mother, assistant manager at a grocery store, existing in monotony with her five-year-old daughter. Every day when she goes to work, lurid tabloids surround her, the face of a notorious bad boy haunting her from their covers.

A man and a woman, living vastly different lives, but that wasn't always the case. Once, they were just a boy and a girl who bonded over comic books and fell in love unexpectedly.

When Kennedy Garfield met Jonathan Cunningham back in high school, she knew he had all the makings of a tragic hero. With stars in his eyes, and her heart on her sleeve, the pair ran away together to follow their dreams.

But dreams, sometimes, turn into nightmares.

Now, years later, the only thing they share is a daughter—one who has no idea her father plays her favorite superhero. But Jonathan is desperate to make amends, and at the top of his list is the woman who gave up everything for him and the little girl he hasn't yet met.

I’ve been in a writing slump, which has me finding it hard to tell you in proper, detailed words how much I adored Ghosted. So just know my short review won’t even come close to doing this book any justice.

With that said, I highly recommend one clicking! You won't be disappointed. I know I wasn't. I completely and utterly loved the hell out of this crew. Johnathon, Kennedy, and Maddy totally stole my heart with their irresistible charisma and dynamics. Their journey, for me at least, was such a unique story. One filled to the brim with a myriad of emotions, flaws, hope, forgiveness, mistakes, and a second chance at love.

This trio held all the right ingredients for the perfect narrative. So much so, they drew me in from the very first page and absolutely consumed me until the very end. I never once felt like I was reading a book. Instead, I felt as though I was a part of their very real world; a friend watching everything unfold from the side lines.

And I have to say, those are my favorite types of reads. The ones that have me leaving my own reality behind long enough to slip into someone else's.

FYI: Ghosted was soooo different from JM's normal writing style. Don't let that deter you though, it is every bit as good. Once again, proving why she is an automatic buy for me!

JM Darhower is the author of the New Adult Sempre series (Sempre & Sempre: Redemption), and the paranormal romance novella, Extinguish. She lives in a tiny town in the Carolinas with her family, where she churns out more words than will ever see the light of day. She has a deep passion for politics and human rights, and when she isn’t writing she’s usually ranting about those things. Chronic crimper with a vulgar mouth, she admits to having a Twitter addiction. You can find her there.
