Get ready for the darker and dirtier side of New Orleans with a brand new alpha romance from USA Today bestselling author Meghan March.

New Orleans belongs to me.
You don’t know my name, but I control everything you see—and all the things you don’t.
My reach knows no bounds, and my demands are always met.
I didn’t need to loan money to a failing family distillery, but it amuses me to have them in my debt.
To have her in my debt.
She doesn’t know she caught my attention.
She should’ve been more careful.
I’m going to own her. Consume her. Maybe even keep her.
It’s time to collect what I’m owed.
Keira Kilgore, you’re now the property of Lachlan Mount.

*Ruthless King is book 1 of the Mount Trilogy. Mount and Keira’s story is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2017 with Defiant Queen and Sinful Empire.*

**No spoilers per the order of Lachlan Mount**

This book blew me away! Meghan March dug deep down and has brought us our darkest, most dangerous, sinfully seductive, and downright delicious alpha hero (well, maybe more anti-hero) so far. Lachlan Mount is the unspoken King of New Orleans. Myth. Legend. Devil. Puppetmaster. He sees all and knows all. He is filthy rich, powerful, charismatic, intimidating, and in control. He does not believe in limits or weakness. People fear him and rightly so since his actions show him to be a ruthless opponent. But he is also a little bored as far as women go and he thinks Keira Kilgore just might change that. And he always gets what he wants.

Keira is more of a good girl, with just a bit of trouble underneath. She's loyal, dependable, smart, and witty. But she's also stubborn, sassy, strong-willed, and as fiery as her red hair. All she has been trying to do is save her family's distillery business. But some of her choices and the fall-out has put it in jeopardy. And then enters Lachlan Mount to up the stakes.

Will she make a deal with the devil? And if she does will she survive it unscathed body and heart?

I loved the push and pull between these two characters. Mount is all about taking control and wanting her to submit, but also appreciates her fire and challenge. And she wants to be strong and stand up to him, but finds that her mind might resist, but her body does not always follow. She just might be his biggest challenge yet. The power plays and fighting between these two keep it interesting. They challenge and push each other out of their comfort zones and to their limits. Their chemistry is sizzling and there is so much sexual tension. And there are such intense feelings: Fear. Anger.  Rage. Hate. Lust. Jealousy. Frustration. Need.

We get mostly Keira's point of view so we know more about her feelings and issues. But I was thrilled to see there were some chapters in Mount's point of view as well. But he is still mostly an enigma, but we do get to see small pieces of him along the way.
I can totally see why the author ended up turning this into a trilogy. There is just too much going on with these characters as well as external factors in play to be able to do them justice in a single book. I love the setting with the darker side of New Orleans. I like that Mount is a different kind of male lead and that Keira is a strong, brave woman.

This book has some twists and surprises that I honestly did not see coming. I love it when an author pulls something over on me since I am always looking for clues as I read. And the fact that she took a character that would be easy to hate due to his actions, and managed to make me actually like this anti-hero is another reason this is one of my fave reads of the year. I was completely enthralled throughout, and was not ready for it to end. I cannot freaking wait for Defiant Queen and Sinful Empire!

His name alone is enough to strike fear in those who deal with him. She is struggling to keep her family distillery afloat.

Kiera Kilgore has caught the attention of Lachlan Mount, and he always gets what he wants. His methods are unorthodox, but his results have built him a reputation most go out of their way to avoid.

These two are fiery together. Kiera’s stubborn streak keeps her centered as she faces off with Mount, but also leads her to deeper trouble. There are mind games at play and the big question is, who will be the victor?

Told almost entirely from Kiera’s perspective, this dark story takes on a tense, out of control feeling as she navigates the agreement she made with Mount. There are a few brief glimpses of Mount’s point of view, but even at the end of Ruthless King he remains a mysterious character.

This is the first of three parts of Mount and Kiera’s story, and there is so much depth to what is happening that it absolutely needs multiple parts to flesh out their journey. I was repeatedly surprised by the direction this story took, Ruthless King is not a love story, rather, Kiera hates everything she learns about Mount, but she is drawn to him as much as she hates him. That strong emotion is what had me turning the page again and again, and I can’t wait to get my hands on more from these two.

The Mount Trilogy continues with

Defiant Queen...

I’m his entertainment. His toy. Payment on a debt.

I tell myself I hate him, but every time he walks into the room, my body betrays me. How can I want him and fear him in the same moment?

They told me he’d mess with my head. Make it go to war with my body.

But I didn’t realize it would be complete anarchy.

I should’ve known better. When Mount’s involved, there are no rules.

I will not surrender. I will not show weakness. I’ll stand my ground and make it out of this bargain with my heart and soul intact.

But he has other plans . . .

Defiant Queen is the second book of the Mount Trilogy. Mount and Keira's story concludes in Sinful Empire.

Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She's also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she's ever had.
