From #1 NYT bestselling author Lauren Blakely comes a sexy new standalone romance!

The first time I met him, his sexy British accent almost talked me into giving him my number on the spot. The second time, he nearly charmed the panties off me with his wit. Then I learned he's the key to success in my new job in Paris. The man who tempts me into fling-worthy dirty daydreams has turned out to be my personal translator, and his accent is the hottest thing I've ever heard.

My mantra is simple -- Don't mix business with pleasure. I do my best to resist him as he teaches me how to converse with my co-workers, navigate the metro and order the perfect bottle of wine at dinner. But I also figure out how to tell the charming and clever man what I most want to say -- that I want him to take me back to his flat -- tonight.

Except there's a catch...

One more assignment before I take off on my big adventure...

And it involves the toughest work ever -- resisting the fetching American woman I spend all my days with. But you know what they say about best intentions. Soon, we're spending our nights tangled together, and I don’t want to let her go. The trouble is, my wanderlust is calling to me, and before we know it I'll be traveling the globe to fulfill a promise I made long ago.

What could possibly go wrong with falling in love in Paris? Nothing...unless one of you is leaving.

This is probably Lauren Blakely's swooniest, dreamiest, and most romantic and beautiful love story to date. The Parisian setting is as enchanting as the characters themselves.

Joy Danvers-Lively is going on a much anticipated adventure to Paris for a new job and a new life. She's ready to leave her past behind and live her life on her terms. She's sassy, vivacious, smart, creative, and energetic. But it is hard  navigating a new foreign city with limited use of the language .

Griffin Thomas is her new translator and he is British.  He has his own plans and dreams to follow through on after he finishes this last extended translation assignment. He's funny, charming, handsome, and easy-going...and that accent...

They develop a fun, flirty rapport as he tries to help her with the French language. They try to be friends, to resist the pull, and not act on their attraction. Neither was looking for a relationship, but Paris is the City of Love...

His flirty, dirty words in an English accent or in French. Ooh-freakin-la-la! He is adorably sexy, thoughtful, and romantic. But he is a man of his word and has made promises he needs to keep. And Joy just has this zest for life and an awareness of the world around her. She is likable and relatable. Together they have oodles of sexual tension that just keeps building. The moments when they are vulnerable, letting down guards on their hearts, and daring to dream touched my heart the most.

But they have a set time limit, different plans and dreams. They don't want to hold the other back. Their time together is intimate and magical, but scheduled to come to an end with no easy resolution for them both to be able to accomplish their dreams.

This story is told in dual points of view so vividly that I could almost see, taste, and smell it. Paris came alive. I felt like I was on vacation with this hot man showing me the city and speaking French. It made me crave chocolate and pastries. The connection between the characters was intimate and well developed. Their back stories had difficulties and pain that had shaped them and their choices. I just fell in love with them and the treasures of the city. But these two have new choices to make and there are no easy answers.

I liked their respective friends Elise and Christian. They both had interesting personalities and I would love to see them explored more in  a future story  and to get more in this setting.

This is a captivating, sweet, witty, and swoony romance between an American and a Brit in Paris. It's about living life to the fullest, pushing boundaries, taking chances, and finding your own place in the world.
I was drawn right into their experiences and felt I lived it with them. And I enjoyed it all. Now I really need some pastries and chocolate...seriously!

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Joy is setting off on a new adventure: new job, new country, new everything. She is aptly named and jumps into each new situation with an energy that shouts her American background. She is excited for everything this new job offers, but carries scars from her previous relationship that leave her questioning her judgement.

Griffin Thomas needs one more assignment until he can fulfill a dream and promise. He has language skills that keep him in high demand as an interpreter. As a native English and French speaker, with conversational skills in several others, he has the unique ability to be able to express multiple languages fluently and colloquially. And it doesn’t hurt that he has a British accent, Joy’s kryptonite.

As Griffin translates for Joy at work, it becomes clear she needs help learning the language if she is ever going to be fluent and independent in Paris. As they navigate the city, a friendship builds that only emphasizes the spark they found before they formally met. These two just click and even though they know there can’t be anything permanent with Griffin’s trip planned, they find themselves questioning if they have found something they didn’t know they were looking for.

I loved watching Joy settle into herself as she found her comfort in the city and language that had been so daunting upon her arrival. Griffin’s own revelations were equally wonderful to watch as he opened himself up to Joy, but waiting for his trip to arrive added a deadline to an otherwise sweet relationship.

This was a swoony, sweet story with the most romantic city as a backdrop. The side characters are great, light additions to the story, with their own backstories and characteristics that intrigue me and have me wanting to know more about them.
I was gifted a copy.

Forget oysters. Screw candlelight and champagne. A sexy accent is the truest aphrodisiac. I’m talking a weak-in-the-knees, flutters-all-over, fast-track to euphoria.
I’ve tried to analyze precisely why the sound of a man’s words can elicit this reaction in, frankly, millions of women. But when I break down an accent and study it like a chemical reaction, it’s nearly impossible to draw a logical conclusion. The ingredients in and of themselves don’t seem swoontastic enough.
And yet, accents have been known to induce major swooning.
That’s why, in my professional opinion, the sounds aren’t the rocket fuel for the tingles. Instead, it’s the associations evoked. Italian is food, wine, and days drenched in the pleasures of the senses. Australian is the laid-back twang of a surfer. A Southern drawl says a man will take his sweet time. Oh, yes, darlin’, will he ever.
But British? Dear God. A delicious British accent to my oh-so-American ears triggers wave after wave of goose bumps across my skin. My knees wobble. My stomach swoops. My skin heats. All the turned-on centers in my body are cranked to high.
A British accent is James Bond in a bottle. It’s sex, it’s style, it’s sophistication, and it’s the man who’ll find his way out of any jam, save the damsel, and do it all with silver cuff links on.
Wait. Make that platinum.
Charmed, indeed.
That’s why I say it’s a damn good thing I’m moving to a country that won’t be chock full of my personal vocal kryptonite, since I don’t have the time or inclination for distractions in my life right now. Look, I don’t have a single problem with the French accent whatsoever. A hot French man can voulez-vous coucher avec moi, if you know what I mean.
But it’s a British accent that turns me to Silly Putty, so in Paris I’ll be mighty fine.
Then, I meet him.

A sexy new standalone romance from #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Lauren Blakely!

I’ll say this about Christian — he made one hell of a first impression.

When I first saw the strapping man, he was doing handstands naked on a dock along the canal. His crown jewels were far more entertaining than anything else I’d seen on the boat tour, so I did what any curious woman would do — I took his photo. I might have looked at the shot a few dozen times. Little did I know I’d meet him again, a year later, at a secret garden bar in the heart of the city, where I’d learn that his mind and his mouth were even more captivating. But given the way my heart had been trampled, I wanted only a simple deal — No strings. No expectations.
Our arrangement worked well enough until the day I needed a lot more from him…
***
Let me just say, this whole part-time lover thing was her idea. I’d have gone all-in from the start, but hey, when a gorgeous, brilliant woman invites you into her bed, and only her bed…well, I said yes.
But then, one hysterical phone call from my brother later, begging me to find myself a wife so grandfather’s business stays in the family, and I need a promotion with Elise. Turns out a full-time husband suits her needs too, and a temporary marriage of convenience ought to do the trick, until we can simply untie the knot…
As long as no one finds out…
As long as no one gets hurt…
As long as no one falls in love…

But our ending was one I never saw coming.
