A one-night stand with the boss was never in her plans. Neither was falling in love . . .
The rumors are true. I am a hot mess with an awful track record at love. Single mom. Down on her luck. Yeah, I’m bad news.
So if the hardest part of moving back home to Jackson Harbor was going to be people talking? I’d be fine. I’ve kept my chin up through worse than their decade-old gossip.
I was wrong. The hardest part is resisting my boss. Brayden Jackson is the very picture of tall-dark-and-handsome. And thanks to an ill-advised one-night stand we had seven months ago, I know exactly what I’m missing when I turn him down. Every. Single. Delicious. Inch.
But I have my son to care for and my job to keep, so I’ll keep on saying no.
Until my string of bad luck continues, and suddenly my precious four-year old and I find ourselves with nowhere to live. At Christmas, no less. It’s for my son that I accept Brayden’s offer to stay at his place. One by one, my defenses are falling, as fast as I am. If Brayden was smart, he’d run, because it’s only a matter of time before he realizes he deserves better than what a girl like me can offer.
Brayden is the serious, intense, work-a-holic of the Jackson clan. Molly is a single mom with a bad reputation in Jackson Harbor and survived some difficult situations. She has worked for the Jacksons in New York. She and Brayden had a one night stand and she has kept him at arm's length ever since. But now she is now transferring back home for a new position in the company and they will be working closely together.
She is a hard worker and determined to give her son the best life she can. Her return and the secrets exposed caused some issues in the family, but she has since been finding her place and acceptance. But she lacks self worth and always feels like she cannot escape her past and reputation.
When she finds herself in need of a place to live, she begrudgingly ends up staying with Brayden. But she is very clear about rules and boundaries. Both have secretly longed for more, but she has so many fears and insecurities that she does not feel like she deserves someone as good as Brayden. Not to mention he is her boss. And he is not sure what to do with his feelings and risk spooking her, and the fact she is an important employee.
So there is plenty of back and forth with these two due to communication issues, fears, and imposed rules and restrictions. And as the rules start to change, it gets even more complicated. This installment is angsty, emotional, sexy, and sweet. Brayden is a wonderful hero. He is so protective, caring, and loyal, but also sexy and intense. Molly is fiercely independent and hates to be pitied or judged, so she could be prickly and resistant at times. But she is also a caring woman that craves unconditional love even if she is afraid to reach for it. They have good chemistry and make a good team. But they are both stubborn and see things differently. He wants it all. She does not think she is worthy. Can she let go of the past in order to look towards a future? Can he convince her to give him a real chance?
I loved getting more with his brothers and their significant others. They have a diverse group of family and friends that both support and tease each other. And this family is the heart and soul of the series. I am looking forward to Carter's book and hopefully their sister, Shay as well in the future.

Brayden is a bit of a workaholic. His focus is on making the family’s business as successful as he can. But he is a bit distracted by his assistant and head of the new event center.
Molly left Jackson Harbor and had no plans to return until her boss offered her a promotion she couldn’t refuse. Now that she’s back, she is paying for decisions she made long before she left town in the first place. Weeks before Christmas she finds herself needing a new place to live, when she didn’t want to act the way people remember her acting, and she has nowhere to turn but to Brayden so her son doesn’t have to spend Christmas in a hotel.
These two had a one night thing before Molly moved back to Jackson Harbor that neither one has been able to forget. They try to ignore that there is chemistry, but working together daily makes it nearly impossible. When Molly needs a place to live and Brayden finds himself offering, it becomes even more of an impossible task to ignore the sparks that fly whenever they are in the same room.
I hated that most people in town hadn’t forgotten or gotten over the choices Molly made when she was younger, making her pay for choice she now regretted and didn’t want to make again. The way she pays for her past decisions in the present was an emotional pain that hurt to read. But I also love Brayden’s effort to treat Molly for who she is rather than who she was, and his need to help her move past those previous hurts.
These two may be my favorite Jackson Harbor couple. Molly had held in so many secrets from her childhood in Jackson Harbor that people remember the persona she showed rather than who she was in the moment. I loved watching as they fought to ignore what was between them, and then again as they maneuvered testing the waters in secret.
Returning to Jackson Harbor and the rest of the Jackson family is always a warm return. The entire family rallies around each other, and is always welcoming to anyone important to one of their own. I loved the influence they each put into pushing Brayden and Molly in the right direction and the way they pulled Noah into the family even before Molly and Brayden had worked things out.

“Oh, and this box wasn’t labeled. Where do you want it?” Brayden pulls open the flaps of the box he set on the bed when he entered. “Looks like there are some washcloths in here. And . . .” He lifts a stack of washcloths and peers at the contents beneath. His eyes go wide. “Oh.”The moment my brain registers what he’s looking at, I lunge for him and smack a hand over his eyes. I intentionally put that box in my car, separate from the others. And I forgot.
Brayden’s chest rumbles with laughter, and I want the floor to open up and swallow me whole.
Brayden Jackson just saw my entire vibrator collection.
He gently pulls my hand away, revealing eyes full of mischief.
I squeak. “Don’t look in that box again.”
His lips twitch. “But I really, really want to.”
I point a finger at him. “Don’t you dare.”
He presses his lips into a thin line, amusement dancing in his eyes. Then, as if he can’t help himself, he asks, “Are they all pink?”
“Shut up!” My cheeks are on fire.
His voice is the softest caress of a whisper when he says, “Molly, your cheeks are almost as pink as your vibrators.”
I smack both hands against his chest. “You did not just say that word!”
“Vibrators?” He grins. Not one of his smirks or half smiles, but a grin, and damn me and my stupid chemical attraction to this man, because it makes me want to slam the bedroom door closed and climb him like a tree. “If you don’t like the word, why do you have—”
I throw my hand over his mouth. “Don’t say it. We agreed we’d keep our relationship professional—that’s what we both wanted. So don’t say it. Don’t even think about it.” Then, because I realize his lips are pressed to my palm and it reminds me too much of our night in New York when his lips were everywhere, I back away.
The warm amusement in his eyes turns to heat. “First of all,” he says, his voice like silky steel, “those were your rules, not mine. I agreed for you, not because that’s what I want.” He drags his gaze over me, and my heart pounds so fast it feels like a hummingbird’s trying to escape my chest. “Second, even if I tried not to think about you using your little collection of pink toys, I’d fail miserably.” He dips his head, and I can feel his breath against my ear as he says, “I’m already thinking about it, and I will be for a long time yet.”

Straight Up Love (The Boys of Jackson Harbor #2)
Our 4 star reviews
From New York Times bestselling author Lexi Ryan comes a sexy new standalone romance about a woman who’d do anything to have a baby and the man who’d do anything to have her…
For my 30th birthday, I’m giving myself the one thing I want most: a baby. Sure, this would be easier if I had a husband—or even a boyfriend—but I refuse to be thwarted by minor details.
When I drunkenly confess my plans to my friends, they convince me to ask Jake Jackson for help. Jake, the best friend who’s been there for me through thick and thin. Jake, who also happens to be smart, funny, ridiculously good looking, and the winner of all the genetic lotteries.
So when Jake takes me up on my request—with the stipulation that we get the job done the old-fashioned way—I’d be a fool to decline.
The only problem? I don’t know if I can separate sex from all the things I feel for this amazing man. If I can’t keep my heart under lock and key, I risk losing the relationship I need the most.
Jake has his own reasons for granting my baby wish. But when I discover his secrets, it could mean the end of us. I have to choose—run or stay and fight for love.
Fall for the boys of Jackson Harbor in Lexi Ryan’s sexy new contemporary romance series. These books can all be read as standalones, but you’ll enjoy reading them as a series!

I’m in love with a man who tried to kill me. At least that’s what they tell me . . .
Six weeks ago, paramedics found me unconscious in my apartment. Beaten. Bruised. Hardly breathing. When I woke up, I couldn’t remember the last three years or anything about my life in Jackson Harbor. They tell me my fiancé, Colton McKinley, is on the run for what he did to me. They tell me I’m safer if I stay away.
I don’t care if my memories ever come back. I want nothing to do with those missing years . . . until a sexy stranger with angry eyes shows up on my doorstep and demands I stop ignoring him.
Levi Jackson is my fiancé’s best friend, but seeing him sparks something inside me. As the truth unravels in my mind, I know they’re wrong about Colton. My own secrets are far more dangerous than the man I was engaged to.
I return to Jackson Harbor to search for answers and find myself running from a faceless boogeyman and seeking refuge in Levi’s arms. And in his bed.
I can’t deny my feelings for Levi. But as the pile of lies between us grows, I realize that sometimes the truth can’t set us free. Sometimes, it’s the very thing that can destroy us.
