Release Blitz and Review: What We Do in the Night by Stylo Fantôme

by - Friday, June 21, 2019

Just five months ago, Valentine O'Dell started working at a very special kind of club - one where you can dance the night away, or live out your greatest fantasy. She's learned to lose herself to her nights, forgetting all her day time woes as she charms every man she meets. It's easy enough to do when she doesn't let her feelings get involved.

Then Ari Sharapov walked in and changed everything.

Working for his father's law firm has left Ari with very little control over his life, so when he meets Valentine for the first time, he sees a girl who is desperate for someone to take care of her. To take over her. So what he can't get for himself in the day time, he'll simply take for himself at night. But when power struggles lead to real feelings, who's actually controlling whom?

Some relationships are better left in the dark.

I really, really, really wanted to love this hardcore kinky version of Pretty Woman more than I did. Especially when I read that Fantome was going old school, Jameson Kane style. The anticipation was high going in. Until it wasn't.

HELP! I truly think I'm broken. I mean dominate, asshole douchebags are my thing. They are my kryptonite. Ari should have dinged all the feels and tingles. I should have been a quivering mess. Because ladies and gents, Ari was a dominate, asshole douchbag of the highest form. But I got nothing. What the fuck?! *que frustration and disbelief*

Seriously, What We Do in the Night is my type of jam. I thrive on books like this. I hate that I can't scream from the rooftops about it. I hate that I can't gush about the hot douchebag who brought me to my knees with his heart of gold and sweet hidden soulful side. I wanted to be all about Ari. I wanted to be his biggest fan. Sadly though, he and I just didn't mesh. *hangs head* Instead I was his girl's biggest fan.

I could leave Ari behind and never look back. But Val... that girl was something special. She made this book for me. And that says a lot because I am extra hard on our leading ladies. Valentine was a fierce, spitfire who took loyalty and love to a whole other level. She was the one with the heart of gold and sweet soulful side. She was so damn intriguing. I want to call her my best friend. She was a chick after my own heart. On top of all that, Val's sarcasm and take no shit attitude was just the cherry on top. I adored the hell out of the fact that she was just so unapologetically her. Next to Tate, I think she is one of Fantome's best written heroines.

Although, I wasn't the biggest fan of Ari, I can't deny the chemistry and connection between him and Val. It was off the charts hot. Their push and pull—holy fuck. Enough said.

Now lets move on to that ending, it needs to be mentioned. What the ever loving hell, Ari?! I hope to god Val makes you beg and plead like you've never before. I hope she makes you pay big time and cuts you off at the knees before she even begins to forgive your asinine ways. *shaking my head*

Overall, the book was well written. It was an entertaining, quick read. Minimal angst. Classic Stylo characters. Plenty of  witty, playful, and amusing banter. Sexy and flirtatious magnetism. Kinky.  Everything you've come to love from this author. And even though I struggled a bit I would still recommend!

FYI: this book ends on a cliffhanger. If you aren't fond of those you may want to wait until September when the next one releases.

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
