Release Blitz and Review: Lovewrecked: Karina Halle
From New York Times bestselling author Karina Halle comes a sexy new standalone romantic comedy about getting stuck on a deserted island with a man you hate to love and love to hate.
Lovewrecked is LIVE!
Love Wrecked
Daisy Lewis is experiencing a relentless string of bad luck.
Fortunately, Daisy has her sister’s destination wedding coming up. A week of sand, sea, and sun in the South Pacific as the maid-of-honor is exactly what Daisy needs to forget her upturned life and focus on the positive.
That is until Daisy meets the best man.
If you take tall, dark, and handsome, and add a dash of rugged, a pinch of brooding, and a whole lot of sexy, you’ve got Tai Wakefield. Unfortunately he’s also a major grump, total alpha, and seemingly out to antagonize Daisy at every turn.
As if being part of the wedding party with Tai wasn’t bad enough, Daisy’s bad luck soon resurfaces when she ends up on a cramped sailboat with Tai and the newlyweds.
Which then shipwrecks on a deserted island near Fiji.
Okay, so they aren’t completely alone. There’s an oddball research scientist who has been isolated for far too long, they have rundown bungalows as shelter, stores of water and canned food, plus a feral goat named Wilson. It’s Lost…without the smoke monster.
But with rescue weeks away, Tai and Daisy realize the only way they’re going to get through this mess is to stop fighting and start working together.
And with their guards down, they get closer.
A lot closer.
Soon, Daisy realizes that the only thing worse than being stuck on a deserted island, is being stuck on a deserted island with a man she hates to love and loves to hate.
A man that can break her heart.
Daisy Lewis's life seems to be unraveling with a string of bad luck. It is hard for the usually bubbly, positive, glass-is-half-full girl to cope with. She has lost any stability she thought she had and is now traveling alone to New Zealand for her sister's wedding. And the fun continues with various mishaps and family dynamics. She is seen as the flakey one while her sister is a genius, and she has so many trust and family issues that it makes her hide under an easygoing facade...but that will be put to the test.
Tai Wakefield is the best man. But he is broody, cocky, and easily annoyed...especially by her. He has his own set of issues that have kept him locked down and untrusting.
They immediately spark and challenge each other. Their banter is adversarial and they have a low tolerance for one another. but as they unexpectedly end up on a sailing trip to Fiji with the newlyweds, they begin to actually see each other a bit more clearly. But the adventures ahead of them will open them up wide to criticism, understanding, and hope. As two broken hearts begin to open up, be honest, and trust, it is freeing. But what happens when the adventure is over and it is time to return to real life?
I enjoyed this book as the plotline was different and engaging. It's a rom-com but with underlying emotional issues and a survival story. I have to say even though I was invested in their story, it took til over sixty percent of the book until I really liked some of the characters including Tai. Her sister made me want to smack her often. They were pretty mean to Daisy. But it was a stressful time and the relationships all needed to have time to grow and communicate effectively in order to deal with old wounds.
The settings of the boat and island, and survivalist aspects added depth and made it more interesting than the typical romance. I loved the last part of the book and how the experience changed all of them in various ways. I ended up thinking Tai was actually swoon-worthy as he let his guard down. And I loved Daisy's inner strength and determination. They all found something they needed during their journey. It was the perfect escape from the craziness in the world right now and shows how good things can come out of really bad situations.
