New York Times bestselling author Lexi Ryan brings you Every Sweet Regret, a sexy standalone romance about a single dad and the reformed party girl who's loved him all her life.
Her brother's best friend. Her lifelong crush. Her sweetest regret.
For as long as I can remember, Kace Matthews has been my brother's best friend and my not-so-secret crush. But I knew nothing would ever happen between us. The successful single dad doesn't fall for the hot mess party girl. Kace + Stella exists in the doodles in my high school notebooks and in my dreams. Never in real life.
Until he finds me on a hookup app and starts flirting shamelessly.
It turns out high school Stella was not prepared for Kace Matthews. Adult Stella isn't much better, but I manage to break down the walls to show Kace the real me--not just the life-of-the-party exterior, but the vulnerable pieces I hide from the world. Combine that with the combustible chemistry we have in real life, and I'm a goner.
Too bad it takes me so long to realize Kace doesn't know I'm the girl he's been falling for online. Telling him the truth now that he knows my secrets could mean losing everything, and that's one regret that could break me.
Kace is torn between the off-limits woman he wants in his bed and an online woman that listens to all his problems and has good advice. Stella thinks Kace is finally taking her seriously and seeing her as more than a superficial sex object and really digging deeper. But when all is revealed, someone might get hurt.
This is full of angst, mistaken identities, miscommunication, and secrets. I will admit that I got a bit frustrated with Kace and how he was dealing with things. But he was kind of clueless. I actually felt bad for Stella because she just wanted to be seen for who she was now and be taken seriously. There are plenty of opportunities for growth during their journey towards finding self-worth, trust, acceptance, and love.
It brings back all their friends, Brinley, Marston, Savvy, Abbi, Dean, and Smithy. There are still some more shenanigans going in in the background with them too. But they can also offer support when needed. I am looking forward to Abbi's book and I wonder if she will end up with who I think she will.
Stella has always been known as the party girl, up for having a good time, but not someone who takes things seriously. Kace is her brother’s best friend and Stella has harbored a crush on him since high school. But the party girl could never be right for the serious single dad, so she never figured she'd get her way. When he starts flirting with her on a dating app, she flirts back and finds herself opening up to him as she’s never done to anyone else. She thinks things might finally fall in place for her and Kace, until she realizes he doesn’t know the girl on the dating app is her.
Oh these two. Neither is really in a place to start a relationship, but they both want one regardless. Kace hasn’t dated since his wife left him and he is hesitant to try anything, even with the prodding of his friends. Stella wants a shot with Kace, but also knows that she has never wanted more than hookups with anyone.
As their stories twist in the dating app and in real life I couldn’t help feel for Stella. She thinks she found someone who understands her, but in real life she can’t get him to see past her history. There is plenty of miscommunication and a huge case of mistaken identity, but they also both have things to come clean about before they can get their stories straight.
I enjoyed returning to the world of Orchid Valley, with Stella and Kace’s families nearby. I was rooting for these two from the beginning and I enjoyed their journey navigating dating apps, jumping into dating after divorce, and working through a history filled with secrets. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for this group of friends!
She’s giving me one night. I’m betting everything on making it more.
The first time I saw Brinley Knox, she was crying, draped in a ridiculous pink tulle dress for her sweet sixteen, and cursing the boy who’d broken her heart.
I was the hired help, a teenage charity case.
She was the daughter of the wealthiest family in Orchid Valley.
I knew a girl like Brinley was off-limits. That didn’t stop me from kissing her. Or from deciding that if she were ever mine, I’d never let her go.
The last time I saw Brinley, she was sleeping, tangled in the sheets of my Vegas penthouse, my diamond glittering on her finger.
I returned three hours later to an empty bed, the ring on the dresser, and a goodbye note.
We haven’t spoken in the six months since, but I’m not the kind of guy who’d file for a divorce he doesn’t want.
Until I got this damn invitation, it never occurred to me that Brinley didn’t remember our impulsive Vegas nuptials.
It’s time to return to Orchid Valley and remind the bride-to-be that I promised her forever. And I’m a man who keeps his promises.
Stella Jacob and Kace Matthews. These two are kind of a mess. She is his best friend's little sister and she is good friends with his sister. She has been crushing hard on him since she was a teen, but they seem to be opposites.
Stella is known as more of a wild child and a party girl, and has a history of questionable choices and needing to be bailed out. But she is trying to get her life on a new track. Kace is a divorced single dad still dealing with his unresolved feelings and insecurities. He is charming, caring, dependable, and protective. He is attracted to her, but has always tried to resist her. She should be on the forbidden list, but it is getting harder to resist.
Teasing and Flirting. A few interrupted interludes and c**k blocks. Uncontrollable chemistry. Nosy friends, relatives, and Exes. Some online interference. A possible housemate scenario. Secrets. =One complicated situation.

One night in Vegas. One shot at a second chance.
When I fell in love with Brinley Knox, she was the spoiled daughter of the wealthiest family in Orchid Valley. I was the troublemaker orphan, brought to town to find the straight and narrow.
She was the homecoming princess. I was the hired help.
She was the perfect daughter. I was the cautionary tale.
We were young enough to think we could beat the odds. Naïve enough to think the world would make room for true love. Neither of us was prepared for the bitter cold of reality.
I haven’t seen her for ten years. Until tonight.
Face-to-face with a woman who should be a stranger, I recognize the heart of the girl I never stopped loving.
