From New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes a love story about taking chances, and the surprises that come with them.
So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far.
While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father. Her devastatingly handsome, single dad father.
I should have stopped playing fairy godmother then. I should have left well enough alone. But I just couldn’t help myself. I had a connection to this girl. One that had me acting irrationally.

My love story all started with a letter.
Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for.
You see, once a year, my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months.

A letter, a couple of gifts, a bit of stalking, a few little lies, and an unexpected meeting has a domino effect on all of their lives.
Ten-year-old Birdie Maxwell sends an early wish to "Santa" that hits the desk of Sadie Bisset who is a lifestyle and dating columnist. Sadie is smart, spunky, and has a big heart. She just cannot help herself from answering some of the little girl's easier wishes. But she had no idea how things could snowball.
Widower Sebastian Maxwell is grumpy, overworked, overwhelmed, but a good dad. He loves his daughter, Birdie, but is not aware of some of her needs and precocious side activities.
When Sadie just keeps getting more and more invested in the little girl and her hot dad, it takes another unexpected turn. Soon Sadie finds herself fibbing her way into their real lives. And the more she sees the caring, funny, and sexy sides of Sebastian, the more precarious it gets.
Sebastian is not looking for love or a relationship, but Sadie drives him to distraction. There is some good push and pull and sexual tension. Eventually the truth is going to come out...but that is really just the beginning of their full story.
This is a delightful, charming, humorous, and touching love story about fate, family, and second chances. I loved all the little connections and coincidences that led them on the path they ended up on. I adored these characters and their dynamics and banter. Birdie and The Duke are scene-stealers, and I loved their interactions with Seb and Sadie. But Sebastian and Sadie are wonderful together as well.
Is it fate, destiny, kismet? It sure seems like it. But it is definitely magical and heartwarming. There are surprises that had my heart pitter-pattering and made it even more special. This book is just perfect and it filled my heart with happiness and pure joy. And right now that is priceless.

Sadie Bissett writes lifestyle pieces, focusing on modern dating. Testing dating strategies has her a little jaded when it comes to finding someone worth dating long term. Her yearly stint working with the holiday letters to Santa gives her a spark each year. This year, a letter for Santa arrives before they’ve even published the request for letters, and the letter begins a sort of wish granting to a degree Sadie hasn’t been able to be a part of before. The series of letters leads her into the lives of Birdie and her father, and suddenly Sadie finds herself inserted squarely into their story.
Sebastian Maxwell is in over his head. Essentially treading water since his wife passed away, he does his best to balance the restaurant they ran together while also raising their daughter on his own. He finds himself intrigued by the new dog trainer, though her techniques are unique he sees the connection building between the trainer and his daughter.
I loved the sweetness of Birdie’s requests to Santa. The connection Sadie felt though the letters led to some hilarious encounters and near encounters with Birdie and her dad, but it was the relationship Sadie built with Birdie that really drove home the sweetness. I loved that the relationship was as much between Sadie and Birdie as it was between Sadie and Sebastian.
This story was full of heart and had me feeling deeper emotion than I expected at the start. I loved the little touches of destiny that pulled the characters together.
