From New York Times Bestselling author Kristen Proby comes an all new novel in her Big Sky series, Courage. This is the first story in the Heroes of Big Sky, all about men in uniform in Cunningham Falls!

Natasha Mills feels like she’s loved firefighter Sam Waters her entire life. Since she first met him during middle school, she’s harbored a secret crush on her best friend’s big brother. It’s just something she lives with every day—too bad he doesn’t notice her. To Sam, Tash is his little sister’s best friend and that’s it.

Disaster strikes the Waters family, leaving Sam’s sister and her husband dead, and their young children in the hands of Sam and Natasha. Suddenly, these two are navigating the loss of people they loved, while trying to figure out parenthood together. The grief is devastating, and raising twins is harder than either of them bargained for. But in working together, and leaning on each other, Sam and Tash learn that family comes in all different shapes and sizes.

The more time he spends with Natasha though, the more Sam realizes just how sweet and sexy she really is. He finds himself slowly but surely falling for her. But when the time comes for him to let her go—will he be able to walk away from the family he’s helped build?

Sam Waters is a firefighter ready to make a transition to a new town with a promotion. Natasha Mills is his little sister's long-time best friend who has had a crush on him since her teens.

Suddenly these two are thrown into an emotional situation and taking on roles they never expected. They have to do it while also both trying to deal with their own grief, anger, stress, anxiety, and fear of the future.

For the most part, I adored Sam. He could be supportive, caring, charming, and such a good guy. But I will admit there is a portion of the book that frustrated me and I seriously wanted to smack sense into him and it felt like he was making uncharacteristic choices. I admired Natasha so much. She is overwhelmed and constantly on the move and dealing with pop-up crises and she barely has time to grieve all that she lost as well. She manages to take control and deal with what has to be done, but she also has a tender heart and needs as well.

When they are on the same page, they are sweet, hot, and totally compatible despite their ten-year age gap. They have chemistry, history, shared responsibilities, and a lot of feelings. Life is complicated, messy, and every day can be a challenge. Sometimes you barely keep your head above water and other days the smallest joys can inspire you. Kevin and Kelsey add drama, stress, humor, and more love to the situation.

These two just have to figure out priorities, put the pieces together, and figure out what they really need to be fulfilled and happy.

Cunningham Falls always feels a bit like coming home. This brings back other characters from the previous series. I loved seeing a bit more into the future with the original couples and their much more grown-up offspring and also spending more time with the royals. This series is ultimately about family relationships both born and found and it is the core of all of the books. I saw the potential for a couple other romantic stories brewing in this one already.
Natasha Mills has harbored a crush on her best friend’s older brother since they were kids. She is used to him not noticing her and isn’t in a hurry to change things. When disaster strikes, Natasha finds herself raising her best friend's kids, sharing the task with Sam. They work through grief and help the twins cope as best they can, but find that leaning on each other makes the challenges easier. But as they find a new rhythm, Sam’s time in Cunningham Falls nears its end, sending the family into a tailspin once again.

I loved the spark between Sam and Tash. When they are working together they just click. I was all about their relationship as the story hit its midpoint and they were finally finding some solid footing after dealing with grief and parenting challenges. But things shifted in the second half, and it felt like they were not the same people as they had been (particularly Sam), which left me frustrated with how they handled the events in their lives.

Though the emotions were high early on (I was not expecting to be moved to tears quite so early in the story), I felt like these two were strong characters. Tash is all about helping the kids find stability as they process the loss of their parents, and her strength is a sheer force when those kids need something. Sam, too, wants to be available to them as much as possible, pushing off an opportunity he was all set to take prior to the accident. He isn’t always present at the house, but he is always willing to drop everything for the kids or for Tash.

My biggest challenge came with how the characters chose their priorities. I felt like for a time, they both forgot what was important and how to communicate what they needed. Granted, it worked for this plot and the final outcome, but the whole time I couldn’t help but think a few open conversations would have eased a lot of the stressors on their relationship.

I enjoyed this return to Cunningham Falls and look forward to seeing more from those in uniform in the small town. Familiar characters circle in the background, it is a small town after all, but this is a very new group as a whole.

From New York Times Bestselling Author Kristen Proby comes an all-new series of hot men in uniform in her beloved Big Sky Series! HEROES OF BIG SKY!

Nick loves his post as the princess’s security detail. Unfortunately, the bullet that ripped through his shoulder put a stop to pretty much everything in his life for a while, and his bosses have plans for him that don’t include sitting at headquarters with the other guards, drinking beer in his off-hours. They’ve assigned him a medical professional and banished him to the lake house for rehab. Which wouldn’t be so bad, but his new babysitter isn’t at all what he expected. She’s sin and temptation wrapped in the perfect package and infuriates him like no other.

Coming back home to Montana sounded like a dream to Jordan, and her new job is something she could do in her sleep. But then she meets her charge. Nick is stubborn, frustrating, and way too sexy. As a professional, she knows she should keep her distance, but he’s much too irresistible. And maybe it’s the magic of the holiday season, but he grows on her way faster than she ever thought possible.

When forced to imagine what life might be like without the other, Nick and Jordan quickly realize all they need is each other. Because it’s undeniable that they have it all—friendship, trust, loyalty, love. And yes, honor. The rest will fall into place.
