REVIEW: The Truths We Burn (The Hollow Boys, #2) by Monty Jay

Beneath the deepest parts of Ponderosa Springs lied secrets that we never meant to be uncovered.
Blood has soaked the hands of those we trusted most. Decrepit intentions finally come to light.
And now truths are ready to be incinerated in the open for everyone to witness.
I was ready to watch this town that made me the villain, Rot in front of my eyes, but it seems ghosts don’t stay buried here either.
Everyone’s favorite sweetheart has returned to Hollow Heights dragging nothing but unanswered questions and grim memories behind her.
A distraction I can’t afford with the police sniffing around.
A mistake that torched my last piece of humanity.
The dirty little secret that has returned searching for closure surrounding her sister’s mysterious death.
But I know the innocent, lost girl is an act. Underneath it’s just another part of her show.
They all are eating from the palm of her hand, puppets on her string.
But not me.
I see her for what she truly is, I always have.
A fake. A manipulator. A liar.
I won’t let her ruin all we have worked for. I refuse to let her derail our plan of vengeance.
I’ve played your game once before, Sage, now it’s time to play mine.
And you’re not making it out without getting burned.
Trigger warnings: I've said this in other dark themed reviews and it warrants saying it again. If you are seeking something fluffy, something full of rainbows, unicorn, and glitter then this book is not for you! This book is DARK. It is violent, and it goes into descriptive detail. See HERE for warnings, hidden behind a spoiler tag on Goodreads.
The Truths We Burn is my first book by Monty Jay and it most definitely won't be my last!! To think I bought it strictly due to its gorgeous cover.

Rook, Silas, Thatcher, and Alister have become my newest OBSESSION. These four were raw, gritty, and delicious! Absolutely addicting!

Buckle up, Buttercups, because you are about to take the ride of your life! Here's to hoping you don't have motion sickness because the turbulence is about to throw your emotions all over the damn place. I'd say hold on tight, but sometimes the ride is so much better with your hands thrown in the air. And believe me when I say, you'll want those hands up. This book is better experienced going in blind.

The Truths We Burn was pure chaos and fire, literally. These boys reigned terror and they gave not one single fuck. They're cold-blooded, unapologetic, unforgiving, and quite often savage in their actions and words, unless they considered you theirs. Then they're loving, well as loving as one can be when you're deranged and mentally unbalanced, and loyal to a fault. Nature considers them monsters. The antiheroes of the world. But man did I love them.

Rook was so sinister, the devil if you may, and downright filthy. Oh. So. Filthy. That degradation and throat kink...*fans self*. And Sage with her good girl persona gave him a run for his money. The chemistry between these two was off the charts. Lord, MJ had me forgetting myself and the age of these characters on more than one occasion.

And let me just say, when I finished Rook and Sage, I immediately wanted Alister and Blair's story, which I'll be starting tonight.

If your love of merciless, sadistic antiheroes matches mine than I would definitely recommend reading this one! Not only will you find love in this dark, psychotic world you'll also have a bit of suspense to go along with it.
Author of edgy romance about broken heroes and the lovers who help them find their HEA's. Monty Jay likes to describe herself as a punk rock kid, with the soul of a wild child who has a Red Bull addiction.

When she isn’t writing she can be found reading anything Stephen King, getting a tattoo, or spending time with family.

Reach out! She loves hearing from her readers!
