This is an unlikely pairing of a wedding planner and a security company owner mixed up in one big mess of a situation that could take down both of their businesses or cost them their lives.

Quinn Taffet has left a bad relationship and shared business in the city behind and moved back to the Thicket to take over his Aunt's storefront for his event planning business. He is sassy, smart, outspoken, and has given up on the idea of relationships. He just wants to focus on growing his new company so he can move back to Nashville a success. But a one-night stand just will not seem to go away.

Percy Champion is ex-military and owner of Champion Security. He is big, burly, stoic, secretive, and full of morning-after regrets...every time of their extended multiple-night stand. He was also burned by love and does not think he wants a relationship either. He is a bit frazzled and dazzled by Quinn and is determined to get over it. Sex and laughter often lead to regrets and disappointments. 

But when one of Quinn's events has ties to one of Champ's most important and potentially dangerous jobs, he begins inserting himself into Quinn's business and life more and more. Champ is protective, bossy, manipulates situations to his advantage, and likes to rile Quinn up. And Quinn is just going in circles trying to keep up with the changes in plans Champ instigates, repercussions on his business, and the fact he is getting too comfortable having Champ in his life.

Things get convoluted by their fake relationship with lovey-dovey behavior and uncontrollable chemistry tempered by denial and self-protection while also dealing with a wedding/mission and threats and danger. Now they are on the same team and determined to keep each other safe. But there is a lot going on in the Thicket and multiple antagonists. And also those pesky feelings and fear of rejection can be distracting, and figuring out what they both want from each other might be the biggest and scariest mission of all. 

This is a witty, steamy, humorous, sometimes over-the-top, romantic suspense story with plenty of shenanigans and multiple threats. There is a thread of the mission and related issues that are carried through the series but it can be read as a stand alone. It brings back the Champion team including Riggs and his boyfriend, Carter we met in Hijacked, and also the ever battling Hux and Kev. I cannot wait for their book, Hacked. There are some other town cameos too. It is so much fun to visit Licking Thicket.
