Release Blitz: The Holly Dates: Brittainy Cherry
Release Date December 7, 2022
All she wanted for Christmas was a boyfriend for the holidays…
All he wanted was for her to take her crappy first dates elsewhere…
Quirky Holly Jackson was unlucky in love, yet her romantic heart refused to give up her search for companionship—even after her fiancé left her at the altar on Christmas Eve.
Grumpy restaurant owner Kai Kane wanted nothing to do with love. Unfortunately for him, when an eccentric Holly kept entering his restaurant nightly with a different first date, his annoyance grew.
When Kai volunteered to help Holly find a suitor it was for one reason only: to get her out of his restaurant and on to a second date with someone at a different location.
It was all going great until Kai became increasingly jealous of the connection Holly developed with another man. The more Holly fell for Kai’s pick for her, the more overprotective he became.
Kai quickly realized that all wasn’t fair when it came to love and the holidays.
He was going to have to step up his game if he wanted a shot at the ultimate prize—being Holly’s favorite date.
*The Holly Dates is a full-length romantic comedy that will put you right in the holiday spirit.*
Cover design by the amazing Emily Wittig
A "meet-ugly" followed by a restaurant/bar owner watching a desperate woman try to find love with the apps. His bartop is witness to all of her bad first dates and eventually, his antagonism for her starts to turn. He finds himself offering advice with a side of snark, but also starts to help her on her man-quest and they begin to become friends.
Kai is handsome, burly, sardonic, grumpy, closed-off, and thinks his heart is damaged beyond repair. His past romantic life and even childhood have made him cynical, jaded, and emotionally unavailable.
Holly is a romance author who has been hurt so much in the past that she finds it hard to believe she can find true love no matter how many dates she goes on. But she pastes on a smile and continues on her mission. She is lonely, awkward, quirky, smart, emotional, bubbly, scared, and hopeful.
They are a pair of damaged individuals desperately in need of a connection but also terrified to put themselves out there due to self-worth issues and fear of rejection. Their back stories are unique and hurt them. Both are grieving past relationships but he turned darker while she maintained her light. But things start to get a bit messier once Holly starts finding some dating success and Kai finds himself not liking it all.
I totally fell for the broody Kai especially when I got to see his vulnerability and sweet inner core. I loved his relationship with his younger brother, Mano, and how Mano sometimes is the voice of reason with these two having communication issues. Holly just kind of infiltrates their lives with sunshine, but she is a bit oblivious to what is really going on and is very emotional.
Faking it for a holiday should be an easy way to try things out, but if they could just let themselves communicate and be vulnerable, they have the potential for a whole lot more.
This is a sarcastic, witty, enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, faking-it, grumpy-sunshine, holiday romance with humor and heart. This book is a rom-com, but it also has some deeper emotional tones and there are some twists and surprises. I adored these characters and it was a sweet holiday read with so many layers to the story.

Holly just wants a date to take home for Christmas this year. After being left at the alter in front of her entire hometown, she doesn’t think she can face the scrutiny she will face if she goes home single. But finding a date is proving harder than she imagined - she has many first days, but no repeats. She is quirky, independent, and trying to move on after her disastrous last year.
Kai has watched all of Holly’s recent first dates and is getting tired of having her bring her string of dates through his restaurant. He has a list of things she is doing wrong and convinces her that he can coach her into better dates. What he didn’t expect was to start feeling jealous of these dates, especially when his lessons work.
I loved watching the friendship between them develop, especially as Kai surprised himself by catching feelings. They had so many sweet moments between them, and I loved the way Kai supported Holly’s quirks and how they made her unique. This was a case of the fake dating sparking feelings for sure, but neither could imagine what would come next!
This had a lot more emotional depth than I was anticipating from the blurb. These two are each carrying pain from their pasts - both relationship pain and familial pain. As each new hurt from the past is revealed I couldn’t help but love Kai even more. This was a slow burn as Holly tried her hand at dating, Kai coached her in how to find dating success, and they built a friendship between them.
