*Sigh* Echoes of You...
Right before starting this, I remember telling my friend after she wished me luck on my next read, "I'm good. I'm diving into Catherine's new book."
I wasn't wrong.
Cowles brought her A game when she gave us this second chance, childhood best friends to lovers romance. It's the perfect balance of push and pull. The perfect balance of pining and pushing boundaries. The perfect balance of should I or shouldn't I. The perfect balance of want vs need.
As well as, the perfect pairing. Our MCs were straight up book boyfriend/girlfriend material, both individually and as a couple. Nash & Maddie were absolutely everything.
There was lots to love about them but their friendship, loyalty, deep attachment, and chemistry were just a few of my favorite things. Another favorite of mine was the development and pacing of their relationship. Their lives had been entwined in some shape or form since they were around 5 years old and the story reflected the slow burn build. There was no rushing them or us into something that felt unnatural and contrived. Instead, their connection felt as pure and authentic as one could get, which made me root even harder for their happily ever after. Lord knows after everything they'd been through, especially Maddie, they deserved it.
It doesn't take long to realize, just like Holt and Wren, Nash and Maddie were written in the stars.
Add in the trials and tribulations, the small town atmosphere, the intriguing secondary characters, the never ending conflicts/animosity and you have yourself one hell of a captivating, emotionally charged read.
If you haven't yet started this series, what are you waiting for? I highly recommend getting a move on it.
There's a reason Catherine Cowles is an automatic read for me. A top favorite author of mine. Her writing is sublime. Always delivering a story that gets me in all the feels. I know without fail, she'll pull me completely into her worlds, leaving me starry eyed with my newest book couple obsession, while craving the next.
Bring on Grae and Caden!! While I'm a whore for the broody, silent type, I'm a total slut when it comes to brother's best friend trope. That ish is my main jam. And I have a feeling Caden is about to throw our sweet Grae into a tailspin!! I can't wait to have a front row seat!
