Frankie’s story continues in this second book in the Frozen Fate trilogy by Pam Godwin.

Frankie and her ruthless protectors conquered unspeakable evil. But their fight to escape the hills of shivers and shadows is far from over.

Stranded in Alaska, survival becomes paramount against starvation, hypothermia, and the dangerous predators lurking outside their isolated cabin.

Sharing precious body heat with her viciously possessive men presents another challenge. She must navigate not only the brutal arctic tundra but also the intricacies of polyamorous love to ensure they make it out alive.

Tensions rise as the ice thickens, and their only hope rests on a plane they can’t fly.
Unless they unlock the secrets hidden beneath its wings in a cage of ice and echoes.

WTF did I just read?

I was NOT expecting this to go where it did. Actually, that's a lie. I had an inkling BUT I thought there'd be some kind of twist that wouldn't fully take it THERE.

PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNING ON THE AUTHOR"S WEBSITE. Pam Godwin has NO boundaries in this series. None. Zilch. Just when you think it can't get any darker, any more depraved... think again.

One of the triggers in this series is definitely not my cuppa. It's 98% of the time a no go for me. If I'd realized the full extent of where this was going, I would have 100% skipped right over the pretty covers and enticing synopsis. However, I give Godwin her props. She's one hell of a magical writer, even with this being a no no trigger for me, I was hooked. I came off of Hills of Shivers and Shadows NEEDING answers, and I devoured Cage of Ice and Echoes. Way out of comfort trigger and all.

Once again, Kody owned me. There's just something about his character that hit me straight in the soul. For me, he's the most poignant and tangible of the characters. His chemistry with Frankie felt the most real. His voice was the loudest amongst the pages. His love for Frankie and his brothers knew no bounds. Through both books, I've been captivated by everything he does. I couldn't get to his parts fast enough. His brokenness called to me more than the others. Not sure why he captivated me the most, as each character suffered in humane atrocities at the hands of the devil. They were all equally dehumanized. Maybe it was his silent, broodiness. His aloofness. His devil- may-care attitude. I tend to be a sucker for the guys who hold it all in, walls built so high that when they finally meet their soulmate, they come crashing to their knees. And this was the epitome of Kody.

I liked Leo and Frankie. I admired the hell out of them. They were definitely inspirational and engaging. Survival mode in backwoods Alaska was BRUTAL, especially the torture they've gone through. So I'm not taking anything away from either character, individually. But for me, as a couple, their love didn't have the same kind of intensity and depth that Kody's held. Theirs felt more instant, more surface level. More I love you because you were there as I experienced savage trauma and you sated my urges, gave me an outlet amongst the bad. There was no working for it. It just was because we were told it was. Where as, Kody and Frankie felt earned. Like a battle was fought for it. it was shown to us versus told to us.

And then there was Monty.

Monty, Monty, Monty. Phew! That man had me more intrigued than I thought I would be. I didn't give two thoughts to his character in book one. But here--he owned his pages. I loved the added angle that his POV offered. It showed us a man with remorse, possession, loyalty, and the ability to go against his nature and compromise. And those twists regarding him. Fuck. I can't wait to see where Godwin takes his storyline. I have a feeling the role he plays in the final book is going to shake the hell out of what we think we know, tossing it all out the window.

I did miss Wolf. I really need Godwin to take a page from soap operas and bring him back from the dead. His lack of presence was definitely felt, and not in a good way.

That ending left us with even more questions. And an even longer wait for them. I am absolutely ready for August and the finale of the Frozen Fate series.

New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author, Pam Godwin, lives in the Midwest with her husband, cats, retired greyhounds, and an old, foul-mouthed parrot. She traveled the world for seven years, attended three universities, married the vocalist of her favorite rock band, and retired from her quantitative analyst career in 2014 to write full-time.

Her interests veer toward the unconventional: bourbon, full-body tattoos, and tragic villains. Equally peculiar are her aversions to sleeping, eating meat, and dolls with blinking eyes.
