When Foster McInnis’ ex-wife flakes and he finds himself with full custody of his daughter, the nanny he hires brings a new complication—an attraction he can’t ignore, no matter how hard he tries.

I love being on the ice and am grateful for my hockey career, but the off season is my favorite time of the year because it brings me my one true love—my daughter, Bowie Jane. Between my job and my ex-wife living across the country, the time I get to spend face-to-face with my kiddo is limited, though we make up for it with summers full of fun adventures. We’re thick as thieves and take full advantage of our time together, but the distance away from her is killing me.

My fortunes change when my ex walks away and I find myself with full custody. But with the hockey season looming, I know I’m going to need help taking care of Bowie Jane. Enter Mary Elizabeth Archer—otherwise known as Mazzy. Highly recommended to me through the Titans’ network, Mazzy crashes into our life like a hurricane. She’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met and to say I’m intrigued is an understatement. But no matter how attractive she is, no matter how I crave to know everything about her, I can’t go there. It’s inappropriate. Just wrong, wrong, wrong, even though she might be the most right thing I’ve ever known.

Being the indescribable force she is, there is soon no corner of our lives that Mazzy hasn’t impacted in a positive way. And my desire for more with her becomes far stronger than my misguided idea that I could ever resist this woman. Our attraction burns hot and keeping our eyes, hands and mouths off one another gets harder by the minute. It doesn’t take long for me to know that I’m all in with Mazzy. She’s my end game and, lucky for me, winning is my specialty.

Foster McInnis is a newer player for the Pittsburgh Titans and his trade took him across the country from his ten-year-old daughter, Bowie Jane. He was able to spend the summer with her, but now it is time for her to return to her mother. But his ex is acting more flighty and making plans that could impact him seeing his daughter. So he is ready to fight for her to stay with him. But being a pro hockey player and single dad means he would also need a lot of support. Luckily for him, the Titans are a tight-knit group.

Mazzy Archer came highly recommended as a nanny and Foster is determined to get her to take the job and help him. She is smart, sunny, responsible, nurturing, genuine, and talented. And she is a bright light in their lives.

But she is also beautiful and captivating and he finds himself having those forbidden feelings he knows he should not be having. And she might just be too. But what will that mean for their employer and employee relationship and for Bowie Jane?

I loved the precocious Bowie Jane. She is ten going on thirty and added such joy and life to the story. And there is just enough drama to make it interesting but it is not too angsty.

This is a heartwarming, sexy, sweet, hockey player and nanny story about family, security, and love. It brings back old friends and made me more intrigued about new ones especially Penn and King.
Foster McInnis’s focus, when he isn’t on the ice, is his 10 year old daughter. He only has the off season and a few short visits when he is playing on the West Coast to see her. The time he has with her is scarce, so he cherishes every minute. When his ex announces she is moving out of the country and wants to take Bowie Jane with her, Foster jumps into action to make sure he doesn’t lose his daughter. Quick action means he has to have a nanny lined up before he goes before the judge, and Mazzy comes highly recommended from within the Titans organization.

Mazzy loves everything about being a nanny and though she is sad to see her previous employers moving away, she is excited for new opportunities. She doesn’t know much about hockey before she starts working for him, but quickly finds her rhythm in the household and in the stands at games. She also finds herself attracted to her employer in a way she’s never felt before, both Bowie Jane and her father.

This was an easy, cozy read with only a few bumps along the way for Mazzy and Foster. If you’ve followed this series, you likely have an idea of some of the threats that face this newly formed family unit, but even knowing what was coming, the story built in a comfortable, non-angsty way. I loved watching Mazzy and Foster explore their attraction while supporting and encouraging Bowie Jane. The little family unit they form is full of open communication, clear boundaries, and lots of heart.

There is plenty of time with the team, but mostly in the background. There are a few new team members this season and I’m looking forward to getting some more back story on a couple of them.
