Brody’s got enough on his plate.

Recovering from a knee injury he hopes won’t keep him off the ice. His team, the Portland University Evergreens, have a brand new coach, and he’s hoping to impress the legendary leader. Plus, he's got to make a decision once and for all about playing professional hockey or using his love of science to go a totally different direction.

The last thing he needs is a sexual awakening at the large, calloused hands of his football player roommate.

Dean is big and brawny and taciturn, but he doesn’t need words to woo Brody. He wants Dean, and his brilliant "experiment" to test his attraction gives Brody all the scientific results he needs to know he's not straight.

Now, they're proving his theory with new pleasures every night, while pretending during the day that they’re just roommates.

Except the heat burns so hot between them, it doesn’t just melt all the ice on Brody’s rink, it melts all his beliefs about who he is and what he wants.

But even more, it destroys the lie that he can’t fall hard for a guy. Because Brody is falling hard. The only question is will Dean catch him?
This is the first in a new college sports series by Beth Bolden and the first book I have read by her. This features Brody Faulkner a hockey player and Dean Scott a football player at Portland University. They end up as roommates and seem to have similar work ethic and are focused on their school work and planning for their futures. So they end up as a pretty good roommate match but there begins to be an underlying attraction that they eventually decide to test with an experiment with a kiss. And the experiment blows up in their faces, making them question everything they thought about themselves and each other. They think they can keep things casual and just be friends-with-benefits and keep things compartmentalized. But hot times lead to confusion and crushes and hidden feelings. They are not sure what the other thinks or feels or what their choices could mean for their futures. This is a journey of self-discovery for both and a double bi-awakening. They come from different backgrounds and have different pressures about the future. Dean has only one plan to change his life. Brody is trying to figure out what he wants his future to look like. And they never expected that this year was going to change everything. I really liked this couple and they were both just so likable, sweet, determined, and caring. And they had such intense chemistry, even if they were a bit mixed up with all the messy feelings. There are some interesting guys on the hockey team and coaches that seem to have stories brewing for the next books in the series. There are cameos from other books. It was a sweet and spicy start to this new series.
