And she has been away and married to a famous actor in California. But now her life just totally imploded. So she came back to the only place that ever felt like home to her, Ember Falls.
Their connection is still strong despite the distance, years, and hurt. Being around each other starts to get more comfortable and enticing. Neither feel they are in any place to be in a relationship, and she has not made a long-term commitment about staying, but the temptation is real. Their chemistry and passion are unmatched. They think maybe they can get it out of their system as a one-night-only, but it is easier to just promise one more tomorrow.
Feelings keep coming back. But things are about to get even more complicated for both of them.
I absolutely adored Everett. He hid his vulnerability under a sarcastic and witty facade. But deep down, he had been hurt by their past and never gave his heart to anyone else. He is smart, funny, thoughtful, caring, and protective. He is the ultimate good guy and book boyfriend. I loved seeing how he took care of his mom as well as Violet. And Violet had self-worth issues stemming from her past that had shaped her decisions. She never really felt like anyone's first priority. And she does not want to be the cause of Everett getting hurt again, but some things seem out of her control. There are twists and turns, drama, and lots of feelings.
This is a first love, second chance, small town romance with a shared group of friends and some challenges that are not easy to navigate. I loved these two together so much! They were just so meant-to-be, but their circumstances kept changing and making things more complicated. I enjoyed seeing cameos from the other couples and how tight their friend group is. I cannot wait to see Killian and their other friend, Hazel to find their own true loves.
